Undecided about whether I want to try to get tickets for the Paralympics; all the trips I made to London for the Olympics took their toll on me as they added up. I'm certainly really looking forward to this weekend when I won't be spending five hours on a bus!
Cannily, Cadbury's are doing a promotion where you win money if certain British paralympians get medals, so I've at least got quite a few to root for! Benjamin Jesson (Shooting, Mixed R6-50m Rifle Prone, SH1) Benjamin Jesson (Shooting, Mixed R3-10m Air Rifle Prone, SH1) Di Coates (Shooting, Mixed R3-10m Air Rifle Prone, SH1) Jacob Thomas (Boccia, Mixed Individual, BC3) Sharon Vennard (Archery, Women's Ind. Recurve, Standing) Charlotte Henshaw (Swimming, Women's 100m Freestyle, S8) Josef Craig (Swimming, Men's 50m Butterfly, S7) Josef Craig (Swimming, Men's 100m Breaststroke, SB7) Already I've got my 'sports to follow' outlined for me! Delightful. I'm very interested to see how C4's coverage goes. It's not to the BBC's scale - understandably - but it's a huge undertaking in terms of their budget and resources. I hope they pull it off! They have at least roped in Clare Balding, which is one heck of a good sign.

Just to add a few OP style bits of info:
Tickets are still sometimes available... If you want to track a specific event, go to http://2012ticketchecker.com/. If you want to see when there are new releases of tickets, follow https://twitter.com/2012TicketAlert and https://twitter.com/2012TicketAler2 on Twitter. It's a bit of work and can be frustrating thanks to endless refreshing and caching. But it can be done! Channel 4's amazing ad Here we go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuAPPeRg3Nw |

Their goal is to be the first ever Paralympics that sells out (previous ones have had to give away a significant number of tickets close to the deadline). It genuinely looks like they might pull it off.

They'll probably mostly sell out, with the ridiculous price ceremony ones (the £300/500+ ones) left.
Like the Olympics, there'll probably be releases of tickets every day as they become available during the games themselves as they figure out which partners are there or not. So excited that I'm going. I'm like a child going to Disneyland. |

What is the likelihood I'll be able to get a park ticket? Since I really want to look around the park, but I don't think I'll get the chance to. |

Park tickets for just the park have gone I believe.
However - many of the events, for most of the sessions, include a 'day pass'. So for the £15 or whatever ticket you get in to one session but can also wander round and maybe first come first serve seating in some others. The popular stuff like medal matches tend not to be day pass ones. It'll say exactly what you get on the website when looking at tickets. If you follow the Twitter accounts, you can get a feel for when there's a big release - and then be a bit more picky if you want.

I'm off to see the Paralympic Flame at Stoke Mandeville tomorrow - it's the big celebration that kicks off the 24 hour relay to the games. That'll be quite fun to see the event... at the place where the games first began.
I'm also hoping to fulfill my goal of holding a torch. Fucked it up for the Olympic torch relay and never got my hands on one, but will see if there's any chance with the Paralympics... it's shiny and silvery! Unfortunately, Joe McEldery is performing as part of it but I'm bringing earplugs. Don't suppose there's any Aylesbury Gaffers? No? Thought not. |

Much respect to those who have disabilities, paralysis, etc. and go on to compete in things like this. I can't even imagine having the willpower to overcome a certain condition and then keeping that determination going long enough to become top-tier in a certain athletic event.
