By your logic, the best selling system (or the weakest system) gets all the games, right? Yet things like Call of Duty, FIFA, Madden, et al. sold the best on the other systems. You see how your logic falls apart? The Wii couldn't handle simple ports of those games, so developers stopped bothering with Wii-tailored versions of the games that would look inferior, and wouldn't work on Nintendo's poor online infrastructure. Oh look, multiple factors. |

I'm not hyped at all. Nintendo's proven that their hardware gimmicks aren't driven by organic gameplay needs; they're just throwing shit at the wall and hoping it sticks. On top of that, the only first-party team I enjoy at this point is EAD Tokyo. Almost everything else from Nintendo is just tired rehashes.

I'm not really hyped, and that's weird because I have been hyped for every Nintendo consoles before. Maybe it's because there aren't games that interest me, aside from maybe Zombie U all the other games are ports.
Hopefully next year at E3 when they show new games from Nintendo franchises I will get hyped. |

I followed the hardware news/rumors.
I paid attention to the E3 presentations. I tried to get into the Wii U. I can't. Nintendo fucked up every time. The hardware is unimpressive. The third party situation seems to be marginally better to the Wii situation, which isn't a flattering statement by any means. Will wait for PS4. Sticking to PC gaming for the long haul. |

I'm not a big fan of most the nintendo 1st party games anymore, so given nintendo's horrific track record with 3rd party developers, I'm completely indifferent to the wii U. Its going to be like the wii where, if you want the true next gen experience you would have to get the wii u, and then the xbox or playstation, and thats not worth the price to me.

Less interested than I was for the Wii launch, but more interested than I was in the Wii post-launch, and more hyped than I was a year ago.
The Wii U's launch lineup looks better than I expected, but I'm still skeptical about Nintendo's ability to keep the momentum going post-launch and court the ongoing third-party support it needs. I'm also kind of unconvinced by the controller -- it seems more like a last-ditch response to the iPad than a genuine attempt at innovation driven by gameplay needs. At this point, third parties are doing more interesting things with the controller than Nintendo is. I think the system has a lot of potential to support the kind of games I'd like to play, but after the Wii, I have a hard time getting excited over mere potential. My plan is to wait it out until we have a better idea of the long-term software situation. |

Hype is minimal to zero.
Also, people claiming that before this generation and the Wii noticeable technological advancement has been the driver of new console uptake - nonsense. And even in this generation, the 360's success has been predicated upon it's discernible visual and physical improvement over the 6th generation.
I'd just go with the first part - at it's core a generation is essentially a cohort that emerges in a similar period of time. |

Eh, I'm in the, "wait to see the games" camp. Look man, I'm getting older. The excited gamer isn't there anymore. I've learned to reserve judgement until I see that shit. Know what I'm sayin'?

Pretty sure the Wii U is going to trade off the back of gaming. |

I see the point but being too rational isn't always good either. It's a fun hobby, let your inner kid get on the hype train every once in a while.

I honestly have to wonder how much Nintendo's going to play up the multimedia bullshit. They made mention of some of it at E3... but I hope they keep it to a minimum, because actually focusing on games could be what makes them the best uh... well, games platform this gen.

I'm excited for the new console, but not dead set on getting one at launch. I know I will want some Nintendo published and developed titles and I've never had a Nintendo console break on me, so if I have the money I'd buy one at launch. If I don't, I'll just lurk in the launch threads :p

I'm sure there will be a game Nintendo shows off that'll get me squealing like a schoolgirl, but until I see something, zero hype. ZERO.

I'm so far only interested in seeing whether or not the online sucks (does it still use friend codes?) and whether or not there are achievements. This doesn't mean that if it has these things, I'm going to want it. I just want to know more about the Wii U, 'cause I feel like there's still so much we don't know about it.
Also, I want to see some games. I need to see more games that I'm interested in that I can't already play on my 360. |

I'm a huge Nintendo fan, I think they make the best software in the world. I was really hyped for the Wii when it launched and was really happy with the system.
The Wii U? Not hyped at all. The system just seems so boring and mediocre. I love Pikmin, but I'm going to just wait until a new Mario, Zelda, and or Smash Bros comes out till I shell out the dough. |

AND to the guy who said it's hype because it's a Nintendo platform, that may have worked in the past but Nintendo being Nintendo does not garner a free pass as it once did. I see no reason to not have at least one of the next gen systems and a PC coming up. Nintendo is not on top of the must buys like it once was. It alongside Sony and MSFT have to earn my dollars so it's not some Nintendo thing. Nintendo just happens to be lower on the food chain for me. |

It depends. Is there some sort of formula or calculation that will take my proposed actions and transform them into a score, i.e. something measurable?
I've always been a "Nintendo guy", so I plan to preorder a Wii U whenever retailers start taking said preorders, and will probably buy a handful of games to go with it. Assuming that none of Nintendo's offerings make it for launch day - which would be bullshit - then all of my games will be Ubisoft's; Rabbids Land, Rayman Legends and ZombiU all look awesome. If I wasn't already planning to get AC3 on 360, I'd have thought about snagging it on Wii U. |

If the Wii U came out four or five years ago then hell yeah I'd have bought it. But I'm not hyped for a system with such old hardware when PS4/Durango are just around the corner. I'm sure Wii U owners will have some great first party games, but it will be awful for third party games unless they're reeeeaaaaally creative with that controller.

I'm not likely to buy one at launch, but I'll admit that I'm anxious to try one out.
New hardware, especially something with a new hook, always gets me feeling like a kid around Christmas when I first get my hands on it. I know Nintendo will have that one game that shows what fun we could have with the Wii-U, and that's what has me excited. |
