Retro City Rampage will be a PS3/Vita Cross Buy title #1

Not sure if this was already known, but Retro City Rampage will be part of the Cross Buy promotion:

Quote:
Retro City Rampage, the brilliant-looking, GTA-inspired love letter to 8-bit gaming is set to become the fourth game in Sony's Cross Buy program for PS Vita and PS3.

"If you haven't heard, Retro City Rampage will be Cross Buy on PS3/Vita. Buy one, get the other for free" reads the RCR twitter account.

Cross Buy was announced at gamescom, with confirmed titles PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.

Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida recently confirmed that the program is headed to North America but is TBC for Japan, adding that you'll need to buy the PS3 game to get the Vita version free - not the other way around.

Yeah, that's old news. I didn't know they were calling all these thing 'cross buy', that implies they announced this concept after they'd actually released cross buy games.

Nice.
For the future of the system I see the majority of cross buy being for PSN titles.

Since even though Sony supports its later console when the newest one is out, I don't see that lasting very long where it is supporting retail PS3 and PSV games.

So the cross buy games now:

Motorstorm RC
Wipeout DLC
MLB The Show (I think? Not sure)
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
Ratchet and Clank: Q Force
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
Retro City Rampage

Any missing from that list? Hopefully we see plenty more in the future.

Well, acording to jstevenson ( http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost...&postcount=373 ) this will most likely be a new OS implemented feature, and likely have it's own section on the PSN store, so it's possible that's what this announcement is about.

Before it would have just been like the previous games, buy 1, get a second 2 download button for the other system.

It's not going to be Cross Buy. I'm fairly certain the reason the Vita version is launching a month later is for SEGA to avoid that question.

Sources? I know all three are PS3/Vita games (well, Machinarium apparently hadn't been approved by Sony as of last month but it should be) but I haven't heard a thing about them actually being cross buy.

And technically, Zen Pinball 2 isn't really a cross buy game. It's a free to play game on both systems and the DLC is cross buy.

In the EU it is definitely cross-buy. The bundle is the same as each game is separately on the Store.

You realise this is completely out of their hands, right? Microsoft's the one holding it up and they've been doing so since June.

I was on the fence about this one, but this has convinced me to drop the cash. I don't have a Vita yet (I'm still waiting for games on it) but the fact that they are willing to do the right thing for the customer at the possible loss of sales is enough for me to give them the benefit of the doubt on it.

Disney bought Ignition and likely dropped it. Atlus picked it up, and it's still in development. It won't be $30 for each version however.

I'm not buying it out of principle for what Vanillaware did to XSEED.

I know all about that. I'm more frustrated at that situation than anything else but also want a little more disclosure or at least some "we promise in less than 2 months, everyone will be playing it" type of response from him.

I randomly decided to go on the RCR site a few days back and they have a decent amount of soundtrack samples. Many of them were posted on January of 2011. I know this is basically a solo op but it also sank in on how frustrating it is waiting for this to come out.

Atlus picked it up and had to delay it to next year because a lot of the stuff that was promised (mainly by Ignition) was "ambitious and unfounded". Atlus has some of their own devs working on it now.

But for what now? Summer of Arcade is concluded. Is it back to this age old "slot" problem on XBLA, the most patently absurd thing of this entire generation.

If this game isn't out by early September, the creators should just release the PSN, Wii, and Steam versions and call Microsoft's bluff. Make it disgustingly fucking public, and see if they dont come crawling anyway.

Yep, whatever there is behind the scenes is not worth hurting your property. We could have been playing this on PSN or PC a month or 2 ago, at least.

Like I said in my last post, some kind of generic "soon" response would help.
