It would take like 300 hrs to beat sotn if you progressed as slowly as it looks here.

sounds like you haven't played order of ecclesia...

I wish they'd have followed the path layed down by that game. I really liked the direction it was heading.

And also I really hope capcom will get their shit together with this one, if not I'll buy judgement instead! at least that got an awesome soundtrack and quick fighting, not that "epic", bland movie-like score bullshit.

lol wonder how long the game actually is if the time it takes to take down an enemy was brought back down to acceptable levels.

Hopefully the delay will result in some positive changes

I agree people overrate the difficulty of OOE. Though the game's still not bad. The boss fights are the highlights of this game.

I think it visually looks fine, but it's ridiculous how many hits it takes to kill enemies. Is it possible this is still a very early version of the game and it's just a test, or that it's very early in the game and powerups have yet to be acquired that drastically cuts down on the number of hits needed to kill anything? If it's the latter I hope those powerups are like, right at the start of the game or close to it.

If this is the game, as it will be when it is released, then I'm out and my newegg preorder will be canceled.

I'm not saying Ecclesia is a breeze, just... well, I shamefully cannot beat Castlevania 1 or 3 to save my life, but got through Ecclesia in a couple of days.

You'll also notice that in the SotN video you linked, there's very clear impact feedback, and you can definitely see and "feel" damage taking place when you get hit or when you hit an enemy. In MoF the whip just flies all over the screen and it feels like you're chipping enemies with no real feedback at all. Kinda lame. :(

There needs to be more minor enemies that are quicker to kill. And, as much as I hate the flying Medusa heads, there needs to be something to pester the player to stay alert and keep the platforming/exploration interesting.

Relatively minor tweaks, other than that I liked what I saw.

Even a 15 year old can see why having a whip that crosses the whole screen that does no damage while the enemies just stare at you for 10 minutes is a bad idea.

It's embarrasing really.

Although, from what I saw, the dude was only using weak attacks and not using strong attacks that are the X button correct?

This is probably one of the biggest issues with putting the LoS combat system in a side scroller with a decently close up camera. Trevor's whip literally can stretch across the entire screen.

I really hope this is the same as the E3 build.

When playing the game, I didn't know whether or not I actually damaged the boss you see at the beginning of the demo. It died when I pressed R (you can grab struggling enemies with R or something, not sure anymore) and I'm still not sure if he didn't die before because you need to "finish" him with that attack or if he's just a guy with much staying power.

Besides that, the guy playing in that video... how do I put it? he's doing it wrong. That boss takes me 2 minutes tops using normal equipment and level at that point in the game. Also I can sword slash twice as fast (it depends on the sword equipped, though.)

2:50 + 6:53 + Last boss fight. Feedback depends on weapon. And standard whip looks perfectly in proportion to player size.

So OMG they changed overall dimensions and # of hits needed to kill an enemy. Heretics!!!

In mof enemies partially turn red, the effect is not as evident as an entire red sprite but it's present.

What kind of shit example is this? That's an optional boss, notorious for his shitload of HP. Fail.

And the game looks weak. Doesn't feel like the classicvanias or the metroidvanias. 250 hits to off a skeleton is zzzz....and the music is again lackluster, a crime in CV. Not impressed or excited, which kills me since Castlevania is one of my favorite franchises.

Konami, give the franchise to someone else for the love of god!

So yeah, went on to read impressions and the X button is the heavy attack while Y is the weak attack, and I guess the previewer forgot to use those. Because sub weapons had good weight attached to them.

I'm still not fond of separating the attack in 2 different strengths for a side scroller, because the weak attack feels completely redundant, but I'd love to see a better preview.
