Powergirl WAS written good when Jimmy Palmiotti was writing. She's complaining about Catwoman of all people. A character that has been sexualized heavily since Julie Newmar played her. Women like her need to get new non sexualized female characters in comics, not censor characters that a lot of people hold dear. Also to assume that everyone looks on female heroines as sex objects is a bit insulting. I didn't look at her the same way I do a porn star or a stripper.

Alright, first of all, the problem with female characters is rarely the notion that they're sexy. It's that they have no character beyond that. That's why (at least among female comic fans that I know) Power Girl and She-Hulk are so respected. Some people (you, for example) look at the image and decide what it is - that doesn't work out very well.

I agree, but it's impractical to convey. If everyone bought everything just because the PR said that there is more to it than what it glaringly obvious from the cover, then marketing would be the easiest job in the world. People see PG and how her tits are being used as the central marketing tool and don't give it thought beyond that because as far as they know, it's no different from the thousands of boob comics that don't bother giving the women any personality and are just there for porn.

By covering up the boob window, they're not taking away the fanservice, because it still exists in the comics, but they are de-emphasizing her breasts in marketing to get people to buy PG for her personality and plot rather than 'Hey guys! Tits!". If nothing else, it is a step in the right direction for how PR should work.

Also, I'm not sure why you think I decide anything on power girl. I don't read her comics and it's not because I think it's juvenile porn. I'm just not interested in the character. What I'm writing here about how people view PG is from the publics point of view and how DC is taking measures to change that for the better by emphasizing her character over her tits in the public consciousness. Whatever happens in the actual comic is another matter entirely and it has nothing to do with what I personally think of PG at all.

IIRC, these folks had been engaging in some, let's say, transdimensional tourism, and had been crossing over into the main universe to do stuff with the powers of their counterparts. The "She-Hulk" who slept with Juggernaut was apparently the Jennifer Walters of this alternate universe.
