His head smashed in and his heart cut out and his liver removed and his bowels unplugged and his nostrils raped and his bottom burned off and his penis...

*Actually, that's bollocks. I have thousands of apps and more than a thousand are games, but not thousands of games. You get the idea though, BIG library.
*As in, content taken from my centralised media server. Can we do this over PM though, if we must? This is a Nokia topic so I'm probably on extremely thin ice!

I would, too.
I don't want a phone anymore, I want a portable internet device. I rarely use voice, so screen size and utility are much more important to me than how it looks up against my face or whether it will fit in someone's skinny jeans. I don't want a 10" tablet though, but something much more mobile. Even the rumored 8" iPad seems like it would be too bulky because of its aspect ratio. The Note 2 looks really compelling to me at the moment. I am by no means a fan of android and even looking at the videos of the device in action makes me shudder, but I absolutely love the pen and form factor. Right now I am thinking that I would be willing to slog through that mess of an interface for those qualities. I have been telling my wife for some months that I would love a tablet roughly the size of a Kindle with pen input and the Note 2 is the closest manifestation of that I have seen. If Nokia doesn't bring out a smaller tablet (I am not expecting one at this event), they better bring it strong with the camera if I am going to go with a Phi over a Note 2 this fall. |

Kind of sad they got rid of the blank right side. WP7 looked really good and now the home screen looks like a huge mess of randomly sized squares. |

I think it makes more sense to have smaller tiles toward the bottom and larger tiles toward the top for easier one handed operation, but if people want to go all Mondrian on their phone, have at it. |

Added to OP. Just curious, but does anyone know how "hackable" Windows RT seems to be? Has there been any noise on that?

It will be interesting to see what Nokia has on offer.
I've been looking to shed some costs, so with that in mind I'm seriously considering a move to T-Mobile to get the Samsung ATIV. If Nokia shows something really great though, I'll probably stick around on AT&T. Needs to be more than just a pretty face though. Something like PureView or other tech differentiation. It's Pentile, though at 720p ... I question how obvious it would be.

I'll give Nokia a pass on the 800 and 900 because they were manufactured by Compal, I would hope this generation of phones isn't. |

2. and 3. Windows Phone 8. There are limited details about Windows Phone 8, but don't be so quick to judge before you hear anything. Also, why are you turning this Nokia Event based thread into "lol windows fone sucks xD" |

I'm with you. Probably gonna wait for an HTC One X cyanogenmod jelly bean build to try before I jump to WP8. I'm jealous of my wife's Lumia 900, although I wouldnt want one myself due to a few annoyances I hope are worked out in WP8

One thing I do know is that Opera Mobile, Android Browser and Google Chrome will thrash on desktop pages and/or with more than 4 tabs open given the same hardware as a Windows Phone while IE9 just cruises along. Benchmarks are not end-all - despite almost always lagging behind in synthetic benchmarks, I've noticed that my phone handles pages just as well as new, high-end Android phones. (Really, the most important part is how smoothly the browser handles zooming in and out, as well as scrolling, which usually means that the GPU plays a big part in. I've never gotten 60 FPS scrolling on my old phone.)
