I bet I do. My library is measured in terabytes and my games alone number in the thousands*. The synergy is underrated as far as I'm concerned. I've used plenty of other systems and none have been so damned slick and convenient.

*Actually, that's bollocks. I have thousands of apps and more than a thousand are games, but not thousands of games. You get the idea though, BIG library.

Podcasts*, audiobooks*, music*, photostreams, cloud syncing. All stuff I want on my phone. I could probably cobble something similar together using 15 different programs but it simply wouldn't be as simple, convenient or user-friendly. My setup is just seamless and it always works.

Can we do this over PM though, if we must? This is a Nokia topic so I'm probably on extremely thin ice!

Everybody knows that the P in PHI stands for proof. And in esperanto Phi means water. Combine those hints together and we're 99% sure

Meh. I suppose that the Phi would be pretty useful in Louisiana right now, but not really something I care for.

Actually it stands for a robotic paperclip that wants to help you compose a text each time you start typing.

I would, too.

I don't want a phone anymore, I want a portable internet device. I rarely use voice, so screen size and utility are much more important to me than how it looks up against my face or whether it will fit in someone's skinny jeans. I don't want a 10" tablet though, but something much more mobile. Even the rumored 8" iPad seems like it would be too bulky because of its aspect ratio.

The Note 2 looks really compelling to me at the moment. I am by no means a fan of android and even looking at the videos of the device in action makes me shudder, but I absolutely love the pen and form factor. Right now I am thinking that I would be willing to slog through that mess of an interface for those qualities. I have been telling my wife for some months that I would love a tablet roughly the size of a Kindle with pen input and the Note 2 is the closest manifestation of that I have seen.

If Nokia doesn't bring out a smaller tablet (I am not expecting one at this event), they better bring it strong with the camera if I am going to go with a Phi over a Note 2 this fall.

Did you switch to Windows Phone?

Kind of sad they got rid of the blank right side. WP7 looked really good and now the home screen looks like a huge mess of randomly sized squares.

To be honest, thouh, I'm perfectly happy with my Lumia 900, if only because it does as advertised and is freaking reliable. I can't say the same with Android devices...

Only as randomly sized as desired by the end user. You can choose from three different sizes for each tile.

I think it makes more sense to have smaller tiles toward the bottom and larger tiles toward the top for easier one handed operation, but if people want to go all Mondrian on their phone, have at it.

Some more new Windows Phone news

Windows Phone 8 to include Kid's Corner, a separate Start screen for parental control

http://mobile.theverge.com/2012/8/30...ls-screenshots

Quote:
Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 operating system will include a Kid's Corner option that provides a unique parental control feature to the company's mobile handsets. Kid's Corner will be a separate Start screen environment designed for children to access apps, videos, games, and music that is shared by a parent. Windows Phone owners will be able to setup a Start screen with the specially controlled apps on, and a child will access the feature by swiping from the left on the lock screen.

Added to OP.

Just curious, but does anyone know how "hackable" Windows RT seems to be? Has there been any noise on that?

no one has had access to Windows RT, so who knows. I assume there will be a hacking scene just like iOS though.

It will be interesting to see what Nokia has on offer.

I've been looking to shed some costs, so with that in mind I'm seriously considering a move to T-Mobile to get the Samsung ATIV.

If Nokia shows something really great though, I'll probably stick around on AT&T. Needs to be more than just a pretty face though. Something like PureView or other tech differentiation.

It's Pentile, though at 720p ... I question how obvious it would be.

I'm not sure what to think of that. Maybe if it weren't a crappy render that looks like it's front the early 2000s, I'd have a better idea.

I'll just this, all phones look crappy until we seen some press shots.

Indeed, it's quite peculiar.

But I like that Nokia does it, and they should exploit it as one of their identifying characteristics, as long as it lasts.

1. Where? That sounds like utter bullshit. All I read were stories of how it was better than iOS and Android HTML5 (I found a source but can't currently post it)
2. and 3. Windows Phone 8. There are limited details about Windows Phone 8, but don't be so quick to judge before you hear anything.

One thing I do know is that Opera Mobile, Android Browser and Google Chrome will thrash on desktop pages and/or with more than 4 tabs open given the same hardware as a Windows Phone while IE9 just cruises along. Benchmarks are not end-all - despite almost always lagging behind in synthetic benchmarks, I've noticed that my phone handles pages just as well as new, high-end Android phones. (Really, the most important part is how smoothly the browser handles zooming in and out, as well as scrolling, which usually means that the GPU plays a big part in. I've never gotten 60 FPS scrolling on my old phone.)
