Not endorsing the sentiment; just what that cover image reminded me of. I do kind of dislike how how bubbly Mario's aesthetics have become. Do the turtles really have to pan to the screen fucking dance? Ugh.

I want a return of the acid trip that was Mario 2.

I wasn't thinking about sales when I said that but ok. There's also no guarantee of it doing as well since it's a new system and we just saw the new 3DS game come out to mediocre reception in the NPDs.

Game Informer is going to take a cover for a major Nintendo property any time that they can get it. It's pretty rare for it to happen.

For a long time I criticized people who argued that Nintendo's games aren't for "mature" gamers. But that shit looks like it really is for babies. Mario has become ridiculious at how much it panders. Well when I really think about it now I believe most of the big fall games already had GI covers. Dishonored, Xcom, AC3, Borderlands 2, Halo. Only ones I'm not sure about are Far Cry and Hitman, and COD never gets on the cover surprisingly.

NSMB2 sold almost exactly the same as NSMB in its launch month, but with less days..... so not sure how that is classified as mediocre. The series has always been one built on long legs and strong sells through the holidays. NSMBU is a guaranteed to do well just as much as AC3, BO2, etc. is.

And somehow NSMBU won't be a quality title? It just seemed like a silly remark, that's all.
