I'm so glad you made this thread as I wasn't exactly sure where to talk about the new iPhone.

4S owner: nope. if i had spare cash coming in i'd consider it, going to wait for 5s - by then most aps should be supporting the new screen resolution and i think 2 year upgrades is more sensible.

This. It'd cost roughly $150 to do so if I sold my 4S to use toward the 5. I don't really see any compelling reason to do so. I might try to convince my mom let me use her upgrade since she has no interest in getting a new phone any time soon.

4 owner, a little miffed about the lack of turn by turn but other than that I see no major incentive to upgrade. This phone still flies, hasn't lagged at all since I've had it and is even more responsive with iOS 6.
As long as it can run current apps at a decent speed and remains reliable, I see no need to upgrade. |

4S owner. Yes. Maybe you haven't seen the FUCKING BLACK METAL STRIP THINGY ON THE BLACK ONE. You think I'd be able to sleep at night knowing that hot ass piece of technology wasn't sitting bedside in a dock I have to buy a $30 adapter to use it with? GTFO.
I'm serious. Hold me |

I don't need to have the latest and greatest every year. I skipped out on the 4S. Still been using my iPhone 4. Has served me much more faithfully than my 3G did at this point in its lifecycle. Still smooth.
My dude: ....dat LTE. ....dat HSPA+ ....dat Screen ....dat CPU ....dat GPU ....dat RAM It's enough of an upgrade over the iPhone 4 to justify going balls deep on day one. |

I am making the switch to iphone, so I was open ears during the conference. I was ready to choose the 5 just because it's the newer model but then I saw the price drop on the 4s. I'll be picking up a 4s when Verizon drops the price because I don't see much argument for the 5

I'm sure Apple will think of something though. Just, you know, not this year. |

Its a very lackluster upgrade; especially when the 4S is highly competent. I do wish it was wider and bigger (screen) instead of just longer. disabled siri here.

I'm on a 4 and I'm feeling not much of an urge to upgrade with their announcement. It doesn't feel long in the tooth to me at all and still fairly snappy. None of the announcements are giving me a compelling reason to. LTE would be a factor if it wasn't for the stupid caps.
I'm going to wait till reviews of the Lumia 920 and new Nexus phones are announced to access the situation and decide to upgrade to one of those, cave to a 5, or simply wait this year out and wait for the next generation of phones. |

LTE is less exciting when the speed will mean you could hit the cap pretty quick. Caps really hurt the interest here.

...dat more apps staying open due to more ram. ...dat more updated apps to take advantage of the device. ...dat camera opening fast (lol even I admit I'm stretching here, LMAO) ...dat better battery life. The main thing that the iPhone 5 lacks is UI innovation w/ iOS 6. I mean damn...add some widgets in notification center...at least. But I stopped gaming on my iphone 4 as the games I wanted were getting too slow/chugging on the device. So yea, I didn't even think but.....dat games. Granted the GPU is mainly for gaming but there's PLENTY of benefit for non gamers for a device with faster CPU/RAM |
