My favorite phone ever was a Nokia phone. We are talking old school snake days, 12 buttons, not much else going on there. Just simple make a phone call.
Now 10 plus years later they are using Windows which is an underdog as crazy as that may seem. And I do not like Apple. I was always a PC user at home, and then both in high school and college I was forced to use Apple products and was not happy about it. Then Blackberry came along, that was nice for typing and emails but still not as easy to use as my old Nokia. Then IPod which I loved, but not a smart phone. Then IPhone which reminded me so much of the high school and college years where the ability to do things outside the lines was constricted by a very simplistic and intelligent interface that still felt very controlled and incapable of being manipulated. Then we had Android, which was completely open, but lacked real vision and an overall gameplan. This app worked on this phone, this phone was to slow for that app, and it was just wild west. MS brought together IMO the best of both worlds, and then when my favorite phone maker embraced them, I was on board. So yeah, Nokia and MS all the way. I have been typing for so long that I do not remember the topic. I hope it at least involved phones. |

Problem Microsoft has is they don't know how to develop a product from a minority share standpoint. You have to be a lot more open and more innovative when you're not the top dog. |

The other problem Microsoft has going forward is just brand reputation in general. Google and Samsung did well in part to their brand reputation also, Samsung for taking over Sony as the current defacto screen provider, and Google with their mindshare.
Microsoft has a "boring and dated" brand reputation. |

Better to be "boring and dated" than to be cheap and "uncool" to the kids. Rightly or wrongly, phones are a sort of status-symbol right now and nobody wants the cheap phone!

Going to be my next phone, replacing a slightly worn but well used Omnia 7.
Honestly couldn't imagine having to settle for Android; don't know why anyone would think Android is an advantage for a phone rather than something to be begrudgingly tolerated. |

Jesus. Phone threads bring out more stupid than WiiU threads. That is a bold statement, but I stand by it.

Strange. You might not have picked up an Android phone lately but for the last year or so it's made iOS look well dated. Android is just pure sexy these days. And extremely easy to use.

I think iOS is old but beautiful. And Win Phone is beautiful. Android confuses me. I don't think it looks good at all. I have a Nexus 7 sitting right next to me. |
