I was expecting like 20k. It's a port of the iOS/Android version, which itself is a port of the DS version. Those devices aren't exactly uncommon in Japan.

LBP on Vita was an expected fail, but as we often see the third party relationship as a problem for (home?) Nintendo consoles, we have to admit that first party products are the weakness of Sony consoles (in Japan at least).
In a situation where third parties are equally interested in PS3 and 3DS, letting Vita struggling, it's clear how the absence of significant first party titles is a problem.
Also because LBP is an internal IP on which Sony invested a lot, imho, compared to other first party brands..

GT used to be big in Japan too, plus once upon a time SCEI had a slew of strong second tier sellers (Parappa, Arc the Lad, Xai, etc). Japan Studio really has gone downhill since each gen imo.

Nintendo will be glad NSMB is showing its legs. 3DS hardware sales too are great, theres demand for the smaller 3DS - Nintendo should get a 3DS Lite to replace the original early next year.

Anyone doubting Brain Age would have legs appears to be wrong too.

LBP is a western IP (however meaningful that is at this point) which makes it undesirable to the East, but it is also on Vita, which makes it undesirable to the West.

Its a sack thats in a portable game, its just not had the same push by SEJ as in the west; the series is decent but not amazing, it needed someone to push it; even if this game is good.

Being on Vita just makes it three times as hard.

Figures aren't surprising. Does show how stupid the Vita strategy is though; the one other game thats coming is made by the studio behind LBP...


Vita should hit 1 million in the next few weeks - I think we should have a Media Create Party.

Pokemon BW2 could hit 3M soon enough. How did BW/Pt sell?

Launch aligned, BW had sold 4.744.211 by this point, Platinum had sold 2,066,300 and HGSS had sold 3.339.872, although all three launched later and were benefiting from holiday sales by this point.

Almost smack-bang in between Platinum and HGSS, although the launch aligned comparisons may be more favourable when BW2 hits its first holiday season.

The damning thing is that sales for the Vita went down when FFIII is compatible with PSP games. Sony should have rethought the whole no UMD policy in Japan. It's pretty clear that users aren't migrating.
