I'm absolutely devastated I let the wrong spelling of colour side into that title :(

I'll be honest, I think that mod ruins the visuals. It almost makes the game look as if it is being viewed through an editor. I don't like it one bit.
That said, it should be an available option for people if they choose without worrying about their accounts. |

Though I'll almost always side for a full, proper colour palette versus muting all the prettiness with filters, the quality of the original texturing work is dependant on how the art director handled the texturing team.
Because it's quite probable the filtering was kept in mind right from the very start, and textures were painted unnaturally bright to grant stronger contrast once the filters were colour grading filters were over layed. If so, removing the filters does not make for a more natural looking game, but an unnaturally over bright/saturated look. In this case I don't really know. Some shots I've seen from this look better (Caspian Border says hi), others not so much. |

Game companies don't want their games looking cheerful at all. Seriously, I'd play like that if I played battlefield games just because I think I could actually SMILE while playing instead of feeling like I had to be super serious.
I think that's the problem with FPS in general... they take themselves WAY to seriously... artstyle plays into that heavily. |

The post-processing makes it look like a movie. Removing it should make it look like a place, but I'm not sure this mod achieves that. Looks unnatural in some instances.
Picture in the OP looks fine, though. I'm puzzled as to why Dice would take measures against something like this? You, sir, disgust me.

I remember learning to make skins for the desert combat mod. I wish BF3 would allow an enthusiast SDK or at least let Mods have a controlled environment to replace vehicle models with your own models. Its not about player advantage but love of the game and wanting to play with it. Some of those people end up working in the industry (including me).
Also, color is good. |

I imagine the concern with mods that change effects like this is you could remove smoke or highlight enemies into obvious colors, which would actually effect balance.

It's a stupid reason to ban, yes, but I can understand their line of reasoning of "too broken" in a sense. Edit: Beaten by Nirolak, but yeah. |

While some things look "too colorful" I think a significant toning down of that color grading would be appreciated.
I'm with Carmack when he says "whats the point in having the artists go through the time and effort into making something beautiful and then throw a bunch of piss filters on it." Paraphrasing of course... EDIT: Also, that "I have dust on my eyeballs" thing needs to go, it's fucking ugly. |

A lot of the shots look better with the color mod but I do notice an increased aliasing and some of the textures starting to look washed out. |
