ZombiU - Tower of London Official Walkthrough Video #1

New Trailer / Walkthrough video for ZombieU's Tower of London.

Quote:
Anyone who's ever visited the Tower of London will know that it would be a fantastic place to defend from zombies.

It's close to the water, with high walls and a resplendent collection of axes and halberds - and aside from the thousands of tourists massed permanently inside, it's pretty much perfect.

So it is wonderful news that in Ubisoft's upcoming Wii U flagship game, Zombie U, you'll be able to explore the Tower and fight zombies within its walls.

The latest gameplay video shows one adventurer doing exactly that - and from what we've seen it's gory, dark and a lot of fun. Sort of like the real zombie apocalypse. (Except for the fun).

The game will also allow you to explore other London landmarks, including Buckingham Palace and the Tube system, using its innovative twin-screen control system.
Game is looking fantastic, and I have to stop watching these as Im spoiling the game for myself,, but for some reason I CAN'T RESIST!!

Looks middling as usual, but the lens effects are really slick. I seem to remember the early Resistance 3 shots having stuff like that, I think it made it in for cutscenes, but I don't believe they did it in-game.

I shouldn't have spoiled myself, for some reason I thought it was going for much less of an action game feel.

Looks fun in its own right though, definitely worth picking up at launch.

Looks good.

I like 1:50 where he shoots the zombie in the head up close and blood goes all over his gun.

For a start I like this takes place in London, actually I think I would buy it if for no other reason that I would watch Tower bridge, tube stations and all London's landmarks.

Also, beefeaters turning into flesheaters, lol.

Just noticed that. You know I had a feeling this was going to be a more slower paced game, but now it looks to have some more hectic portions of the game.

Shit. Best trailer yet. Voice work seems... surprisingly solid.

Frame rate seems like it was chugalugging in the scene at 1:55, though.

This is more of an "actiony" sequence, but considering we have 4-5 trailers that look like pretty solid survival horror and one that looks more action slanted, I think we can assume a solid mix in the worst case scenario. I'm hoping for much much more survival horror though.

Why don't you post this in the dedicated thread called "Zombi U pics and footage"? Sounds like a good fit, no?

Ontopic though, it looks rather rough and unwieldy in spots but great in others. Still not convinced.

It looks like their really balancing the 'slow' and 'OH FUCK SHIT FUCK' - just so you enjoy the slow and feel very tense during those moments as 'OH FUCK SHIT FUCK' could just be round the corner or be caused by your own incompetence.

Yeah the lighting stuff is really effective; textures/models aren't too special but the visuals go beyond that - everything has a real depth and physicality to it - I've not see many games get all the elements working together as we see here.

Developers deserve a lot of credit so far as things are looking really good on what is obviously not a big budget game. Looking good.

Because it's a new trailer for an upcoming game, showing new areas and new gameplay, and like every other new trailer for new games it deserves a new thread.

Wasn't it supposed to have objects lit by flashlights etc cast shadows? I think that's not there in most of the trailer but I only skimmed.

I have a bad feeling that this game is pretty short and/or doesn't have a ton of different areas, so I could see ZombiU getting a bit of backlash because most of the game was spoiled through these new trailers and developer diaries.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but I'm staying away from all these trailers just to air on the safe side.

It's there. Camera is very close to the light position so it's not too noticable a lot of the time.

The jail cell bars, zombies, and environment do, it's very similar to how HL2 does it.

Also you can see the arm models cut off.

I liked the lens effect, but I could see it getting really bothersome in gameplay if it's overutilized.

I don't think you'll notice it all that much, it'll just become atmosphere stuff, it only stands out because it's a short trailer.

Oh come on, Zombie U does look better than Condemned but not by much, look at games like Dishonored and Bioshock, they have better graphics, it might be a good game but in terms Of graphics its looks dated.

I suspect there going for full on 'screen display' stuff - mud/blood/water/lighting; its all pretty much like having music in the background to build the atmosphere.

Some of those lens effects are evidently to create a 'blinding' effect that any sharp light in a dark space would have; end of the trailer shows that idea nicely.

Did you even watch that video? I think you need to be unjuniored and given a tag 'blind'
Also Bioshock is flat as hell, very tired/dated now but perfectly servicable.

Dishonoured? Not the prettiest game in the world but some powerful stuff behind it all; looks good and seems to run well (not played it, just going off what I've seen for it). Its difficult to compare - if ZombiU holds up to the outdoor sections we saw in the Ubisoft video, I think its pipping it (slightly) overall, but still the models are behind.

No one is saying ZombiU is the most graphically accomplished game ever made; its just how it looks, buildings looked defined and lived in, actually 3D, not some back drop. Objects in room have real depth.

Strip away at lot of the atmosphere stuff and put the lighting up and ZombiU is not a pretty game. But thats not the game thats being sold.

No guy, Bioshock does't have better graphics in the least. Dishonored is another different art style so it's also hard to compare.

Yeah its hard to tell. The models are certainly better; everything else? Well we'll see when ZombiU is released but they both look very serviceable to me.

According to the devs, ZombiU was recently upgraded from a 12 hour single-player experince to a 16-20 hour experience, but no telling exactly what that added length consists of. Maybe it's brand new areas, or maybe it's a Windwaker-like collection fest. Who knows.
