Seems the torrent works fine. Direct Downloads don't, however. At least from my experience. :/

i assume after installing the exe from the torrent. it won't update since servers are down? the updater would pop up and then disappears.
I just get a "this webpage is not available" error for all of the links.

the success of this will depend on
a) do people still remember RO?
b) can any crappy laptop/pc run it?
c) can people get over the so-so graphics. 2d cutesy moe korean animation had its appeal.

Just watched the Gamespot video. Art style seems pretty good but looks lifeless/empty, probably due to the lack of players in closed beta.

From what I researched, they cancelled the first Ragnarok Online 2. This is the second one.
i was expecting way more out of this after the cool Ragnarok Odyssey footage. i want to dismiss it as another cheap WoW clone but 'll probably give it a try to check it out. hopefully it has some interesting parts.
i am starting to run out of old school MMO remakes to look forward though. Ultimate Online? EQ3?

Pretty sure I wont ever play RO2, as I realized that having a thousand library long Backlogerry and playing MMO is not good.
Tried replaying RO1 for nostalgia sake a few months back. It changed. Too much for my taste.
Still one of the best OST in video games.

Square does, and they do it right. If you cant make a good, scene setting battle or boss battle theme, just leave it alone
I dunno. The battle music in SE MMOs is good but it's old after a couple of hours. I honestly prefer field music to continue through battles. Especially if there are only a handful of battle themes in the game (or worse, in DQ10's case, only one). Incidentally, this is also one of my major gripes with Xenoblade.

Umm FF14 is god awful.
Aside from the point, Battle Music simply takes you out of the environment. For a game like RO, a mob could take less than a second to kill. Having a battle music go in and out for a moment is simply jarring.
It just sort of works for FF14 because the battle system is terrible, boring, and dragged out, so that the music might be the only highlight of playing that stupid game.
Boss battle works, but even WoW does that.

Any details on specs required to play this? My wife and I have been wanting to get into an MMO together tho we only have one high powered PC and one low-tier laptop.

I'm not sure if I'll enjoy it but I'll definitely give it a chance. RO1 is free to play though... so there's nothing stopping you from doing that!

The only problem I have with RO1 now is that the lag really destroys me. It's server side lag.
RO is filled with shit that one shots you, especially since I was playing a priest. It really blows to lose XP because of tremendous lag.
Also, the controls are definitely finicky now. Hope Project R1 implements some keyboard movement controls.
