So should I cut holes in the wall for cabling, get a cable hiding system, or paint a PVC pipe and mount it to the wall? Tv is in a corner, both being outside walls.

I disagree. Girls like having interesting and unique things to look at, especially with a great story behind it; makes for great conversation. (and no I don't mean nerdy action figures or anime posters). Cozy and warm makes them more comfortable. A place can look classy and clean without having to be cold and sterile.

My basement is a combination home theater/game room. Not the fanciest/schmanciest thing, most of the equipment is entry-level quality a/v stuff, but when calibrated well, it looks alright.

Entrance to the basement

Couch view of the screen (96" diagonal)

Couch and consoles (games are just out of view)

View from the back of the room. Yes, those are laserdiscs. On the walls, too.

Nothing special, just my humble PC gaming setup.

TV mounted above, for whenever I want to switch and lie back for 'comfy couch' gaming.

Not much has changed with my setup. Everything is still in a tiny room in the basement.

All console gaming and music listening happens here.

Samsung 42 inch LCD TV. Old but still fine for gaming.
XBox 360
PS3
Hauppauge HDPVR Gaming Edition for the times I want to record my matches.
Street Fighter 4 Round 2 TE. Got 4 of them...2 for XBox, 2 for PS3.
The rest of the stuff is my audio gear.

This is the newest addition which isn't pictured above.
Hori LCD Monitor 3 HDMI version for the PS3. I have no idea why I bought this but it's cool to have.

Immediately to the right of the console setup is my gaming PC. I used to have it as a racing setup but have converted it to a fighting game setup. The pedals are still on the floor if I want to hookup the wheel and stick.

Here's a pic of the fighting game setup on the PC.

Sony Duo 11 Windows 8 ultrabook/tablet, MacBook Air 13 inch for surfacing the web and headphone listening, MacBook Air 11 inch for downloads.
Not pictured are the handhelds which are behind the Air. There's a Sony PSVita and a Nintendo 3DS XL.

Headphone setup.
Sennheiser HD800 headphones
Headroom Amp/DAC
Headroom powersupply

Finally, to the left of the console system are the hard drives. In the picture are 26 drives. There are 2 others below the MacBook Air. Currently have 54.5 TB of space. I really need to do something to make this a cleaner setup. The drives are getting out of control.

How is the new version of the Hori screen with HDMI....was thinking if getting it?

What are you storing on all those external drives?! Not sure how you'd go about cleaning something like that up. That's about $2500-4000 worth of storage space right there depending on the drives.

The Hori LCD Monitor 3 is actually quite nice. Screen quality is good and the speakers are quite loud...actually that is an understatement. The speakers can go LOUD. It makes it really easy for me to put the ps3 somewhere I don't have a TV to do some casual gaming. Aside from that, I do all my gaming on the xbox. I play Street Fighter 4 almost exclusively so that's why I use the xbox (there's a 1 frame delay on the ps3 which I still haven't adapted to).

Those drives have anything and everything on them. I don't delete anything. I could possibly be on that show Hoarders if it didn't look so clean.

A lot of those drives are 2 or 3 TB drives. Going to start getting 4 TB drives once the price is right. I was looking at the Drobo but given the cost already incurred with those drives, it would seem like such a waste. One thing I was contemplating though is a PC just for storage. I'm just not sure where I would put that damn PC...

In about a month I'll finally move out of my current city and my parents' house, since my University was only 5 minute walk away from their home it never made sense to move out, so I'll be posting my new setup once I move out and settle down. I'll be living alone, so I can't wait to set the place up entirely to my liking!

I should of got a better picture of the whole room to capture the rear speakers as well. The dual subs really come alive when sitting down for a blu-ray. To demonstrate the setup I plug in Quantum of Solace for the first four minutes (car chase).

OMG! I'd like to know how far away your seat is too. I have a 100 inches projector setup for my daughter and the sitting position is 12 feet away. Even at 12 feet which is optimal distance for 100 inches seems huge to me.

Thanks and correct. I have the 685s and an HTM62 all in the front - love them. I have 2 Polks in the rear with a DefTech Supercube sub. I added more pics below.

Better pic to show the front setup (this has my older plasma though):

Let's see: The Optoma has a throw distance between 0.5 to 5m (~20 inches to ~197 inches) with a picture size between 80cm and ~8m (~31.5 inches to ~315 inches). He says 176" so he sits about... 3m (~118 inches) away?

Edit: Okay, that is probably where the projector is sitting, he might of course sit further away xD

The black levels you're seeing are probably more a function of the camera's exposure settings than the projector.

Bedroom, never use this TV, it's not even plugged in. I have no cable to it, since my wonderful apartment has only one outlet for cable and it's in the living room.

Never watch or use this TV, it's not even plugged in. If anyone in the Boston area wants it I'll be getting rid of it in 6 months (keeping it for decoration), when I move.
Living room:

Why are there cables every where? Well, as mentioned before there's only 1 cable outlet/internet also there 2 outlets that are directly behind this display are tied to the light switch and 1 flick of that and I lose all power. When did an apartment do this then put the switch on the opposite wall? I dunno. Everything feeds off of 2 multi circuit breakers, wired together. Fire hazard? You bet cha.

PC:

Way too weak to play games on, minus the small indie game, like Hotline Miami. I watch movies on it though.

Heres where I keep my games:

in a closet, in boxes
So I got curious and wondered how many I actually have now.

185 360 games
50 PS3 games
20 Wii games

Thats not including downloaded games, which I know I have over 50 on XBL, around 15 on Wii/PS3 each. I also have a pretty extensive GBA/PSP/DS collection but I didn't feel like counting them, gonna say around 40-50 on each handheld. When I moved to MA, I left all of my retro (PS2-NES) at my parents house, I know I had around 150 game son PS2/XB, but I only brought the games I thought I'd play the most.

Heres what they look like spill all over the floor:

I have a couple of rooms that I game in.

Here is my main gaming room.

This is the view from over my chair. I have my PC hooked up to my TV and mostly use a 360 controller to navigate windows with the help of Xpadder. I do use a keyboard and mouse when needed.

I just got this setup. Here is my new arcade rig.

And lastly my Racing/Rockband room.

I have an 1100 sq. ft. basement that I will be moving all of this into once I get the funds to fix it up.

Cable is split between internet and cable box, if I wanted to split it into my room, I'd have to run it all the way around a wall and down the other wall, plus buy another cable box,
