I'd never even heard of this game before, and man it looks really bad. But I kind of want to see the rest of that really low budget music video.
Watching the Dark Souls review was painful, basically admitting they couldn't get the first mini-boss of the game & they hate it.
Their racing reviews are also kinda amateur. Like the Burnout Paradise review, he mentions he doesn't like Arcade style racers & never played any of the Burnout games before & tried making comparisons with Forza.
That's all CGRUndertow stuff, though. Watch Mark's reviews of both those games on the main CGR channel. Waaaaaaaaay better. Mark seems to have loved Dark Souls, and his Burnout Paradise review was so long it had to be split into two parts.Originally Posted by See You Next Wednesday

Basically, CGRUndertow =/= CGR.
Let's not even try to be nice here: Undertow plain sucks, only the main CGR channel is worth a damn... And it's worth millions of damns.CGRUndertow is... well, I don't even think it should have CGR in its name.
It's weird because we've seen Mark try out some things over the years, like CGR News with the female host (forgot her name) and more recently CGR reviews with a co-host, and every time he gives it the axe very quickly if it's not successful enough, but for some reason CGRUndertow keeps going. I assume it's because some people on Undertow are his friends and he desperately needs more people to cover the games he himself doesn't have time to review.
I donated a game to the show a few days ago and I pray to God the one to review it will be Mark, otherwise I'll feel my donation has been for nothing.

The co-host on CGR was TJ or JT whatever, he usually reviews JRPGs on Undertow and he's fine.
You're right that he's a huge Sega fan, but everything he says about Panzer Dragoon in that review is 100% true... it is that good.Originally Posted by SolidSnakex

In Classic Game Room, I'm like "FUCK YEAH NEW EPISODE!," then turn on episode, it turns out to be shit young guy, not cool old guy. Immediately turn off.
Angry Video Game Nerd new video?! Fuck yeah! Oh shit, what? Mike Matei? Fuck that lame asshole, immediately turn off.
I wish they'd separate the damn reviews so I don't get side swiped everytime by the shitty people on their channels.
I have no idea how this is happening to you. CGRUndertow stuff doesn't show up in my YouTube subscription feed or my Facebook feed. Just Mark's stuff. Just subscribe to the main channel (InecomComapny).Originally Posted by The Mana Legend

Yeah, Mark's stuff and the Undertow guys' stuff come from completely different channels. There's no way that they could be mixed like you describe.Originally Posted by The Mana Legend

The Truxtun review is pretty great too:

Very nice to see him review H.E.R.O. - It brings back a lot of memories because I'm pretty sure it was the first video game I ever played. I played it on the Apple II but remember having the same control issues
Yeah and at the expense of the fans who really enjoy certain games and spend money on them. As a Nintendo fan I've had to deal with so much bullshit from game sites and forums. I love Classic Game Room for not being cynical and being honest.This. A million times this.
I cant stand 90% of any videogame related show, podcast or quicklook because everyone loves acting like a fucking jaded asshole.
Attempts at being funny usually revolve around shit-talking or making fun of something.
"It's probably not the mainstream product that Nintendo was hoping for, but it may be the game console that Nintendo fans have been dreaming about."
And then goes on to say that it wasn't released in the US? Because it was. Just under a different name. So what the hell?
I'm subscribed, but I don't know.. comparing the Wii-U to a Vectrex? Why is he even bothering with that comparison, it just comes off as him trying to show off his collection.
Also, the Wii-U is the new Dreamcast? Really? Dreamcast had crazy third party support and launch titles. At least in the US.
I believe that his main point is that the DC was a console that mainly appealed to Sega fans. That's not to say that others didn't enjoy it, but Sega fans were its biggest backers.Originally Posted by Ingueferroque

The reason why this should be done is obvious, I think. :)
Most people probably haven't heard of the Japanese name for the game, at least...Originally Posted by Ingueferroque

That one was a kind of weird comment, but he said that it got a US release as Dynamite Cop later in the video. And then goes on to say that it wasn't released in the US? Because it was. Just under a different name. So what the hell?
He compares almost everything to the Vectrex! You don't watch CGR very often, do you. If you do, you'll come to know more about how much Mark likes the Vectrex, Truxton, and (not mentioned as often now) Cosmic Carnage. :)I'm subscribed, but I don't know.. comparing the Wii-U to a Vectrex? Why is he even bothering with that comparison, it just comes off as him trying to show off his collection.
I agree with the above reply that he meant that it's a system mostly for people who like Nintendo's games, which he, of course, has never been; remember that he's an Atari/Vectrex/Sega fan, not a Nintendo fan. And yeah, I could tell that again for sure, watching this video. He's never loved Nintendo's style of games... like, the original (arcade) Mario Brothers is his favorite Mario game, I believe. Also, the Wii-U is the new Dreamcast? Really? Dreamcast had crazy third party support and launch titles. At least in the US.

A cure for the corporate review indeed
Derek is one of best on Undertow. I like his charismatic voice, unlike the rest who just sound very monotonous. Except for TJ, he's not too bad.Originally Posted by Like the hat?

Wii u video was great
Mark is the king tought. Got love is Game.com reviews! LOL
That was 13 years ago, but yes, they did. And I'd venture a guess that if Mark went back and re-reviewed it, he'd probably have a slightly better opinion of it.This is the same one where they reviewed Virtual On:OT for the Dreamcast and said how it sucked and was unplayable? The one where it was pretty obvious they had no idea how to play the game? (I'm terrible at the game and even I know about jump cancelling which if I remember right was in the demos.) Yeah, I think I'll skip it and watch unplayedathing
It's just plain fun to watch his reviews even if you don't actually care about the game itself.
Sounds like they gave the game a pretty accurate review, then... maybe it's playable with a twinstick, but with the DC controller, forget it.This is the same one where they reviewed Virtual On:OT for the Dreamcast and said how it sucked and was unplayable? But also, that was 13 years ago, and you're still mad at him for one review? Oh come on. He's done plenty of reviews I disagree with, but overall it's a fantastic show.
Really makes me wanna play this after missing it on Dreamcast. Plenty of good launch window games and passed me by.
Probably something to do with the title.
With Bomberman it looked cute but with bombs it was cool.
But that game was only 4 player madness until someone died and then you are watching. This look fun even when losing because you can sabotage someone.
It's almost as if CGR is made up of humans capable of making mistakes, having differing opinions, not approaching things in the right manner, etc. This is the same one where they reviewed Virtual On:OT for the Dreamcast and said how it sucked and was unplayable? His food reviews are the best! I love how he doesn't take himself seriously. I think that's what make his show so great.Originally Posted by Seraphis Cain

It's kind of perplexing, right? Especially considering how well produced his videos are.I'm completely baffled on how he doesn't have more subscribers and viewers for each video. I've only started to actually subscribe and treat YouTube like a actual channel now and this show is easily my favorite YouTube channel.
Is it just me or are the enemies moving much slower? Does the game slow things down when you play with a pad to make it manageable or something?
