Nintendo's 30-30-30 deals are (not) rentals
#1
I've seen a lot of people excited that games are coming to the eShop at 30c and 30p, i just feel that this needs some clarification.
You aren't buying the games at that price, it's a 30 day rental. Iwata stated this in the Nintendo Direct and it's on nintendo.com. What is strange though, I didn't notice any mention of it on the eShop... unless it's mentioned just prior to purchase. (I have no interest in Balloon Fight.) I just don't want people thinking that they have these games for good only to have them vanish, people like to melt-down over such things. Personally, I think 30c is a great price for NES games and anything over is robbery at this point. I don't understand the logic concerning nintendo's pricing of 20 year old games... Sorry I can't link to the exact quotes, I'm at work. |

WRONG
It's a 30 day sale price If you buy them for 30 cents, you keep them. http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu/downloads/virtual-console/ After specified promotional period, each game will be made available in the Nintendo eShop at regular price. Wii U owners who have purchased the game(s) during the promotional period will not need to purchase the game(s) again at the regular price. Games purchased during this promotional period are eligible for 2 points in the Deluxe Digital Program. Point value subject to change. |

I thought it was cleared up that its trial pricing and that you do indeed keep the games?
And I think VC pricing is ridiculous but your assertion that they should cost no more than 30¢ is even dumber. EDIT: Thread backfire confirmed. |

It's not a rental. It's a sale. Did none of you guys read the fine print on the Wii U VC website?

They were very unclear on the Nintendo Direct, but on the site and eShop I can't see anything of a rental. I assume it's a permabuy, because it states that the promoprice is only for 30 days.

Anything over 30¢ is robbery?
Robbery? Have people become THAT entitled? |

How do people get that from the info we got?
Like how the hell can you miss the whole fact that it's a sale and not rental when it was clearly said as much? |

You think this because the promotion is called "Trial" right? That just refers to the VC, which hasn't officially launched.

The way Iwata phrased it, gave me the impression it's simply a 30 day trial.
However, there's nothing on the e-shop saying it'll expire after 30 days. So looks like you get to keep it. |

Huh. I didn't watch it but glad you clarified. I think people wee legitimately confused.
Actually seems stupid now. It's like a free game trial, which PSN gives away free regularly. |

Nintendo couldn't have made this more confusing. I also initially thought it was a rental.
I'm happy it's not. |

So these games will be taken down from the eShop after the 30 day period is over until the full Virtual console app/store is out right?
