04/Feb/2013

February kicks off with developer Level 5 and publisher Namco Bandai’s new release ‘Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch’ taking the No1 spot.

The new RPG which incorporates the animation of the world renowned Studio Ghibli team sees last week’s No1 ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ (-5%) pushed down to No3. It’s an impressive feat for the title which releases both its Standard and Wizard’s Edition exclusively for PS3. EA are above Activision at No2 with ‘FIFA 13’ (-5%) ensuring it hasn’t slipped below 2nd spot since the turn of the year. Ubisoft’s ‘Far Cry 3’ (+17%) is down a place to No4. Agent 47 makes two appearances in our Top 10 this week with the release of ‘Hitman: HD Trilogy’ new at No5 - developer IO Interactive’s past incarnations ‘Hitman 2: Silent Assassin’, ‘Hitman: Contracts’ & ‘Hitman: Blood Money’ remastered on one disc for PS3 & Xbox360. Agent 47’s latest outing ‘Hitman Absolution’ (+26%) is further down but climbs a spot to No9.

Ubisoft are well represented with ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ (+16%) and ‘Just Dance 4’ (+19%) also in the Top 10 each slipping a place to No6 and No8 respectively. Sandwiched in between them is EA’s ‘Need for Speed Most Wanted’ (-2%) at No7. Bethesda take the No10 spot with ‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ (-6%) just ahead of Capcom’s ‘DMC’ which sits at No11 (38%) separated by less than fifty sales.

Kind of surprising 3D Land is still selling as steadily as it was all last year.
Really hope we get 3D Land 2 this holiday, or if Universe is taking that spot - early 2014.

Anyway;
Great for Ni No Kuni. A game called Ni No Kuni is number 1. Its called Ni No Kuni; points to Level 5 for that. Anyway; add to my PS3 envy why don't you.

8 HITMAN: HD TRILOGY (XBOX 360)
Thats...not too bad. Not going to be big numbers but if it can keep in the charts with the price dropping over the next few weeks then its a decent result.

Very surprised at the lack of BOMBA pricing for DMC atm; Far Cry and the like were at £25/29 around this time after release am sure. DMC still sitting at £35 on amazon.

So realistically when is the next time a Wii U and/or a Vita game make the top 40?

Don't know if Scribblenauts will do much to be honest. Has previous iterations of the game done well in the UK?

I'm surprised Far Cry 3 is still up there. I didn't expect it to be a flop or anything, but to still be that high up the charts this far after release was something I didn't anticipate.

Good for them, the games great.

Is the top of UK charts always that low in sales? I assume when the big games come out the numbers are at least triple or more of what we're seeing now.

I'm inclined to believe that Ni No Kuni was heavily undershipped, at least assuming if the numbers are anywhere similar to DmC when it peaked. I haven't seen a store that has it in stock here.

Also it baffles me sometimes how my country can keep prepaid WoW cards as top sellers for over months.

Yup, the WE completely sold out and the standard edition is mostly sold out for the next few weeks by the looks of it. It couldn't have done any better in terms of sales figures it seems.

I still remember how people were predicting that keeping the "Ni No Kuni" name was a bad decision and would limit the titles' sales potential in the west. I guess it could have sold even better as "Another World", but I seriously doubt it.

France week 4:

1 - COD : Blacks Ops 2 PS3 - Activision Blizzard
2 - FIFA 13 PS3 - Electronic Arts
3 - Far Cry 3 PS3 - Ubisoft
4 - COD : Blacks Ops 2 XBox 360 - Activision Blizzard
5 - Halo 4 XBox 360 - Microsoft

OP it should be noted, at least for Italy and France, that it's week 4 and not 5. We're always 1 week behind. Next week we should know if Ni no Kuni charted at number 1 in Fance. I'm expecting it will be the case knowing how popular japanese stuff and Ghibli are here, as well as the PS3.

To be fair over here at Finland I haven't seen the game anywhere on stores. I ordered it online myself. I dunno if retailers or Namco is to blame, there was a delay after all because of shipping problems.

In the week 4 Pal thread. But it was probably supply constrained. It will do well in France, in germany it was for weeks in the preorder charts. But it's the slowest season of the year.
Think it's gonna come back, when more units arrive.

JRPGs killed themselves through stupidity of their developers.

Taking microsoft exclusivity bait and then releasing one year delayed ports killed any chances for coordinated marketing efforts.

I wouldnt be surprised if its up there again this week, if they can get the fucker back into stores. None of the shops that sell games had it in stock at all when i phoned up, and all said they had been getting calls all day asking the same thing.

Think it's gonna come back, when more units arrive.

It's number one in Germany's chart. And number 6.

They don't sell it in germany. You can get it as uk import via amazon, but it's also not on steam. Has probably something to do with licensing. Assumed that it is a uk only title.

Looks like you're right about Germany, but the game was out in France, Italy and the others.

That's probably why LFP Manager (the EA game) charted well in germany while we never saw it in the other countries. Wonder why Sega can't release the game in this country, which is the biggest for PC and seems to be the biggest for football games too.

And it's the better manager game.
Checked it - EA has some exclusive licences and prohibits the sale of Segas Football Manager.
