I don't mean to be a downer. It's a fun game to play casually with friends.
they said it was a glitch but this is the first glitch I've seen that made me want to play this game so badly

you guys are lucky to be playing this on PC
waiting for the PS4 version
I bet the chat after that .gif was taken looked something like: "OMG FUCKING NOOB RAMMER LEARN HOW TO PLAY"
At least that's what happens whenever I run into someone.
I can't hide anywhere now ;P
Hnngggghhhh every time I see the game in action I get excited for the PS4 version... I just want to see the game not running on my crappy laptop. And tanks.Originally Posted by TheRealTalker

Bwahahaha. It's a legitimate strategy =DImagine if people did that in WW2. Just ramming the shit out of their enemies.

That's what 25 post per day gets you...I was playing the other day and someone randomly went "Amir0x? Amir0x from NeoGAF?"

I reallllllly want War Thunder tanks. I'm thinking it has "killer app" potential. Actually... all the F2P games do.
waiting on tanks so I can quit WoT....
No infantry planned but some missions do have AI infantry that you can strafe. :DThis is my most anticipated game for ps4 in the launch window. I love my WWII games. Anyone know if you can be infantry?
Planes, tanks, and ships plus all of them in one mode called "World War" eventually which has been hinted at for so long but sounds like it's going to be pretty epic from what little we know.
I just can't wait to use an attacker aircraft to strafe a few human players in a tank fight.
Got about 2,000,000 lions saved up for tanks now. I'm high enough in all nations' tiers for aircraft (just before jets) so now it's time to save for my tanks!
I think I must of put in 20 hours + into this at the weekend.
Love it. love the interface, love how realistic it is. The controls are surprisingly good for a controller.
Bloody brilliant.
Please add me. My gamertag is kworned if you have the PS4 version.
but the stick controls make it incredibly difficult for me. roll and yaw are switched in a way that i pretty much crash the plane regularly and there´s no option to change it.
I was struggling with the controls as well. The left analog stick is basically a mouse pointer, I guess? You just point it somewhere and the plane follows? An the right stick is throttle control AND yaw, so if you yaw but put the stick a bit too much down you also throttle down. I don't know, it feels extremely counter-intuitive and I was having the hardest time just making a simple 180.i tried it on ps4 and think i´d really like it.

The game looks stunning, but I'm not sure I'll ever get accustomed to those weird controls.
Are you using the default simplified controls? A bit point where you want to go and it goes there? There are definitely options to change that to more standard flight sim controls.i tried it on ps4 and think i´d really like it.

that could be the issue. iirc i´m on simple controls option, and the only things you can change are sensitivity and invert axis stuff. Are you using the default simplified controls? gonna try the advanced controls tonight, thanks!
Looking for some, I stumbled upon the Youtube-channel of The Mighty Jingles - not really what I was looking for. But I love this guys videos. He narrates his gameplay very calm, relaxed and positive. He is very informative and really gives me an idea on how to play the game, how to interpret and approach different situations.
War Thuder seems to be very tactical, a bit like the battlefield-series in a way. It requires me to "read the flow of combat" and it often gives me enough time to think before acting. I really games like those and would love to grasp WT soon. Any help is very much appreciated.
I go into first person mode to get around this. A ssometimes the camera can just get a little mad at times.i tried it on ps4 and think i´d really like it.

It takes a little getting used to.
I also changed to inverted, which helped a lot.
You can use the touchpad as a mouse but the left control stick is not a substitute.I was struggling with the controls as well. The left analog stick is basically a mouse pointer, I guess? I find it very good, but you may need to adjust the sensitivity.
Does it matter? :PAny news on when NA PS4 gets this?
How to Play WarThunder on the PS4 (US):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDjMSAi9yEA
As I click into the game is asks me to register / sign up for the beta and won't let me go any further without doing so. Is this right?
I thought if I dl from my ps4 it would sort out this automatically - it did on Warframe.
If they're trying to make me sign up just to play it they can kiss my arse!
Gutted but .... Deleted!
Jingles or Krebs are the best for WT coverage. Jingles also does WoT coverage in spades, and some random other games at times. He's not the best at the game, but his reviews are done well, updates nearly daily at least, and he's got that voice.I just booted it up on PS4 and felt a bit overwhelmed by the interface, currencys, mechanics and overall complexity. Can you recommend any good overview/tutorial-videos?

however, could it be that the simulation setting also tweaks the flight model? the plane really feels "wobbly" and unstable whenever i try to make a turn. otoh, might be that i´m just completely dumbed down by all the arcade flight games i´ve played before this.
Yeah... he has "the voice"!Jingles or Krebs are the best for WT coverage. Jingles also does WoT coverage in spades, and some random other games at times. He's not the best at the game, but his reviews are done well, updates nearly daily at least, and he's got that voice.
Anyways... reading that you have watched your share of WT on YouTube, can you maybe point me to a good tutorial-video as a starting point? I enjoy the way Jingles teaches me tactics, strenghts and weaknesses of certain planes and situational awareness, but mostly the whole UI, the research, the crew-feature and the different currencys are quite overwhelming. I am not shure what I am doing there, I am not sure what to prioritize or how to read the scoreboard in games. I need the basics! And I found that tutorial-videos are working best for me - far better than reading stuff up on gaming-WIKIs and such.
Brutal. Is everyone already like super powered up or something as they seem more maneuverable than me?
They're probably using mouse aiming (arcade)l much quicker and easier to track targets, plus the lead marker helps. After starting really good with my logitech controller on PC.. I now suck awful. I don't know what happened, but I was getting kills regularly and now I can't do shit, regularly scoring zero kills every round. :(

Can you choose to play against simulation players? I much prefer the feel of 'proper' flight controls but not if I'm going to get slaughtered
They improve a lot on the basic E1. They start to get really good with the F/4 line where you can mount two extra 20mm cannons with gun pods. The FW190 line are mostly disappointing where they aren't really fitting one specific role well. They tend to be pretty average in everything which makes them poor dogfighters.Originally Posted by Fruitster
Can anyone recommend a good Luftwaffe fighter that is obtainable fairly early? I'm using the Messerschmitt 109 E1, but it's firepower seems very weak compared to the early Spitfire and Hurricane. I've had a great deal more success with the 110 as it seems to pack far more of a punch firepower wise. Do later 109 models improve in terms of firepower or is the Focke Wulf 190 a better bet? I'm considering shelling out for the 190 D13 pack. Such a great game, i'm happy to throw some money into it.
Thanks for the info :). I'll stick with the 109 tree then and work for the later models. Pity about the 190's though. They improve a lot on the basic E1. It's funny, because I tried to use Mouse/Keyboard input and I found my Logitech F310 a lot easier and more natural to use..They're probably using mouse aiming (arcade)l much quicker and easier to track targets, plus the lead marker helps.

I haven't found a simulation mode yet.
Anyway to make the planes behave like the planes from BF 1943? Those were perfect.
You guys should check out Phontomen's Youtube page. It's filled with crap like that Zero GIF, and it's one of my favorite channels at the moment.
You need to up the controls to at least 'realistic' to be able to do sharp turns. Anyway, I already think I'm done with this game. Wallet 'pay' clans are invading every server and they're way more advanced than I'll every be going with the stingey route. I went over 10 rounds in a row without scoring a kill.. and I felt like I was piloting pretty well.I just can't get used to the controls, just feels awkward. How do I make sharp turns?

That's because they're boom-and-zoomers, not dogfighters. Dive on an unsuspecting plane from on high and it'll already be dead by the time you fly back up, and going too fast for its allies to try to chase you.The FW190 line are mostly disappointing where they aren't really fitting one specific role well. They tend to be pretty average in everything which makes them poor dogfighters.
BTW, once you have customizable 20mm cannon ammo for the BF109s and FW190s, air target is the best option. Minengeschoss will devastate enemy planes.
Enjoying the game on the gameplay front though on PS4. Not sure how to unlock custom games and the sim modes, some things blocked off on the menu.
