Media Create Sales: Week 13, 2013 (Mar 25 - Mar 31)

It seems Animal Crossing: New Leaf has found a new baseline (60.000) after two consecutive drops where it went from selling 76.000 units to 60.000.

The gap between these two games will start widening, especially with Golden Week being so close.

Now the question is if its sales will be affected by the release of Tomodachi Collection: Shin Seikatsu.

I am sure Sony is very happy with the recent Vita numbers. Definitely a sign of life for the platform and it could be an incentive for developers to look at it again.

I'm surprised Game & Wario didn't do worse.

It looks like the most boring, pointless and overpriced mini game collection ever released and completely lacks what made the WarioWare series special. This should have been pre-installed or a series of very cheap downloadable games, but not a retail title.

Wait WTF, can somebody explain the DQX numbers. Surely this is the franchise that has a law right?

Also Vita settling in nicely, cant wait for it to become the new PSP!

Alright, this was just the appetizer from Nintendo. Wario?!? pfff. DQX port? old news.

Let's take a look at what the geniuses in Kyoto have lined up for lucky Wii U owners in Japan the next 2-3 months shall we?

....

....

...

Pokemon Rumble on April 24th

....

...

RE:Revelations on May 23rd!!

..

Then in June the big guns hit

Injustice and Rabbidsland June 6th.

F1 All Star Racing June 27th.

And that's it folks!

Is Pokemon Rumble getting a retail release in Japan btw, or is this a title we can't see sales for?

I'm mainly curious since 2 months is kind of a long time to get without seeing anything.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Now I'm definitely curious how Final Fantasy X and X-2 will sell on PS3 and Vita. Wasn't FFX Famitsu's #1 game according to pollers?

Good hold for Vita. I'm disappointed :( 2 more weeks left?
Slight Wii U increase. Doesn't deserve more at the moment.

I hope the Nintendo moneyhat for the DQX port was worth it. 33K for a mainline DQ is pathetic even if it's a port. Probably the worst number ever for a mainline DQ. SE better be careful to not let DQ go the same path of decline of FF.

Nah, they just released a DQVII remake that did fine. There are just not enough incentives for the WiiU DQX port. Even if it exceeded most of GAF's expectations i.e. opened at say >100k, that would still be low raw numbers compared to even remakes, and spinoff DQ games.

Nope, download only with download cards sold at retail.

Its also the NFC game with Pokemon toys being sold, but I think those are just being sold at Pokemon Center's.

Frankly, I'm sure its a shit game but if Nintendo pushed the game and the toys at retail I bet it could do ok.

But they aren't.

It's getting download cards, so theoretically Famitsu should track it.

Might be an interesting situation, actually.

We'll see results next year then. What happens for the end of the year has been determined, so Sony needs to start announcing games or this will be a sideshow for when it is back below 10k.

Last Game Boy family game to appear in the Famitsu Top 30:

2002-11-11 27 [NGB] Pokémon Crystal Version (Nintendo) {2000-12-14} - 4,349 / 1,825,148

4953 days or 13 years, 6 months, 22 days. But I'm not sure it counts since Pokémon Crystal is a Game Boy Color exclusive game, and that's only 4 years and 22 days after that system was released.

The last release compatible with the original Game Boy to appear in the top 30:

2002-08-19 29 [NGB] One Piece: Maboroshi no Grand Line Boukenki! (Banpresto) {2002-06-28} - 5,437 / 150,481

4869 days or 13 years, 3 months, 30 days.

Which beats:

2013-03-25 15 [PS2] Final Fantasy XI: Seekers of Adoulin (Square Enix) {2013-03-27} - 11,531 / 11,531

4770 days or 13 years, 22 days.

I'm kind of surprised Wii U hardware bumped that much given the bad software sales. Probably all because of the DQX bundle.

Considering the DQ relationship with Nintendo recently, DQ8 would probably be a 3DS or Wii U release.

Please no 3DS. I'll take Wii U though. DQVII aesthetically looks a step back from VIII. I don't see VIII being improved much at all on 3DS. Put it on Wii U or PS3/4

Encouraging Vita numbers, especially software wise. Muramasa did well for a port of a niche game and Soul Sacrifice didn't drop much. Hope this shows the 3rd Party that it is a viable platform. It just needs something big to keep the momentum and for the next weeks it seemingly has nothing.
Sony needs to push harder and we all know they only have one true system seller IP (Gran Turismo). If they won't announce it at this years trade shows I don't know what went wrong.

Amazing legs by Luigi

Nice sales by Muramasa ^_^

DQX is OK, apart from those sales there's the half price promotion which isn't counted here.

Glad to see Game & Wario bombing.

people already bought it for the Wii.
Low install base.

People who already own the Wii version are also able to buy the Wii U version digitally for half the price. I'd assume that quite a lot of old players who wanted to upgrade did just that -- even if you prefer to own a game physically, what's the point when you already have the case and disc of the old version that's barely half a year old?

Game and Wario seems like a a rush job and lacking content.
Has low user ratings online too. Cant blame anyone for not buying it.

For people wondering about vita

April's entire lineup

Then there is not a single game for over a month. This is not the way to sustain a platform although it could be worse *looks at wiiu*

Oh wow, totally forgot about Photokano Kiss. I was looking forward to that game once upon a time :)

Eh? DQIX is the highest selling game in the series ever, and at one point was the highest selling third party game in Japan ever. They've already released 3 DQ games for the 3DS. There's no way that DQXI is going to be on anything other than the 3DS.

I think Nintendo is making a big mistake if they keep Iwata for one more fiscal year. To me, it's a sign that they have no plan to change the fate of Wii U if Iwata sticks around until march 2014.

They must get rid of Iwata now or Wii U will struggle all generation.

This wasn't a Wario Ware game. The distinctive microgames were stripped out and replaced by 16 Nintendoland-style minigames.

It's a bomb, but a deserved one. Nintendo's going to have to do better than that.
There is a microgame mode in Game & Wario as well. I'm not sure how many microgames there are, but i saw a Youtube video (here) and i counted about 20 different games, and 4-5 variants.

Good hold for Vita. I'm disappointed :( 2 more weeks left?
