I can't vouch for the quality of the script as it's being kept locked down (even the casting people weren't given a copy apparently) but given that it's going to be WB's big July release next summer I think it's safe to say that it's not going to be lacking in the action/spectacle department. It's a good time to be a sci-fi fan. But regardless of what we know of the plot, do we know if the script is good? And if there are some great set-pieces?
I don't think, in terms of action, the last 40 minutes of The Matrix has been topped yet.
Haven't seen any script reviews so far, but they properly have some batshit insane set-pieces planned. I hope so anyway. It's a good time to be a sci-fi fan. But regardless of what we know of the plot, do we know if the script is good? And if there are some great set-pieces?

Here's hoping that Jupiter is more profitable than Mars.

MILA KUNIS was charging about the Natural History Museum until the early hours.
The actress was at the London attraction yesterday with CHANNING TATUM, shooting scenes for film Jupiter Ascending.
A source said: “They’re using it to film pivotal action scenes.
“A skate ramp has been built over the top of the huge dinosaur in the foyer for a climax chase scene.”
It takes a brave soul to whizz around a skeleton of a diplodocus at speed.

Off at dawn tomorrow to pretend to be an actor in the new Wachowski's film, Jupiter Ascending. It's a small but vital part (or so I'm told).

Stupid costumes and they're ripping off action sequences from Batman and Robin
James is working with Cloud Atlas directors Lana and Andy Wachowski again on their new sci-fi film Jupiter Ascending.
He said: "They're the best. They're just amazing human beings. I adore them. I would do anything for them. I don't have a very big part in Jupiter but I am beyond excited to be asked to come back and work with them again. They're two of the most brilliant and lovely human beings I've ever met."
THAT is pretty damn cool.Originally Posted by angular graphics

- Finally what is next for all of you?
Ed: I am filming with Andy and Lana Wachowski on Jupiter Ascending at the moment and that finishes in a couple of weeks. Then I am unemployed again and looking for my next project. I am auditioning around at the moment and seeing what is happening.

2-Jun-13 – Downtown Chicago will have some role in a science fiction film being produced and we do not mean Transformers 4. A helicopter, presumably for filming, will not only fly over downtown but pending permission from the Chicago city council, take off and land in one of the nation’s most dense urban centers.
Alderman Brendan Reilly, whose 42nd Ward includes much of the Loop and neighborhoods to the north, introduced a city council ordinance last month to allow Warner Bros. Pictures to “conduct landings and takeoffs of rotary-wing aircraft in such portions of downtown Chicago.”
Through its affiliate, Rozar Pictures, LLC, the studio is planning to use parts of downtown for Jupiter Ascending, a film set in the distant future that will be written, produced, and directed by Chicago natives Andrew and Lana Wachowski, who created The Matrix and two sequels.
Mila Kunis stars in the film as Jupiter Jones, a young woman destined to rule the universe but who must first dodge an assassin, played by Channing Tatum, sent by the current queen. The film is currently shooting in the United Kingdom through June and will then move to Chicago for four to six weeks. It will be released on July 25, 2014.
Ordinance O2013-3394 was introduced on May 8 and assigned to the Committee on Transportation and Public Way, which has recommended it be approved by the full city council.
Meanwhile, local location scouts have been hired by Paramount Pictures to find locales for Transformers 4, still set to shoot in Chicago in August and September – possibly as early as July and as late as October. Production staff should start arriving later this month.
Specific locations are still not known. Al Cohn, the film’s location manager, has politely and patiently declined comment since late April.

No. It says right in that article that they're filming in the UK through June.Originally Posted by angular graphics

Things are only looking up for young British actress Charlotte Beaumont.
Next she’s off to the US to play Sean Bean’s daughter in forthcoming sci-fi movie Jupiter Ascending, directed by the Wachowski siblings.
‘It’s a small part but it’s great because people tell you: “America will never call you back.” And it’s got some amazing people in it – Eddie Redmayne, Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum. I’ll let you know if I get star-struck…’

Filming hasn't finished yet and the Wachowskis liked Tykwer's way of first recording the score and playing it back on the set for the actors and they even said that's how they are going to do it from now on, so I wonder if this is why Giacchino is scoring it before it has finished.Ludwig Wicki Conducting the score for "Jupiter Ascending" here at Abbey Road in London. http://instagram.com/p/aYEnpMFdkX/

----Nikki Amuka-Bird (Luther) has been cast in Cinemax drama pilot Quarry. Based on Max Allan Collins’ novels and directed by John Hillcoat, Quarry is set in the 1970s and centers on Marine sniper Quarry (Logan Marshall-Green) who, upon his return home from Vietnam in 1973, finds himself shunned by those he loves and demonized by the public. Amuka-Bird, repped by Greene & Assoc., NB Management & Hamilton Hodell, will play Ruth, the wife of Quarry’s friend, fellow former Marine Artie. She will be seen next in the Wachowski’s Jupiter Ascending.
Today is Lana's birthday (48).

The film will star Tatum Channing and Mila Kunis. Filming begins June 24.
“We are breaking ground on—I mean it’s a tough shoot. We’re doing stuff that’s never been done, inside the camera, in the CG world, and the physical stuff. There’s very little, if not no, digital stuntmen in the movie. All the stuff is really real and it’s been hard figuring it out because they don’t like doing anything that’s been done before. So we’re definitely doing some new stuff, so hopefully everybody likes it. And it’s fun, it’s got some cheek to it. It’s a cheeky movie a little bit.”
“I’m a splice, splices are essentially built in a test tube. I’m a hybrid wolf and human. And half albino, so I’m a little defective.”
The Snow White-like "Jupiter Ascending," directed by the Beverly-raised Wachowski siblings ("The Matrix"), is scheduled to film in Chicago July 12 to Aug. 27 and revolves around a janitor (played by Mila Kunis) destined to become the queen of the universe, and the bounty hunter (Tatum) sent to Earth by the current queen to kill her. Most of the filming in Chicago will be exterior scenes, said Moskal, and will include helicopters in some capacity.
(The city gave Warner Bros. permission "to conduct landings and takeoffs of rotary-wing aircraft in … portions of downtown Chicago," according to an ordinance passed earlier this month.)
Atmosphere Casting is currently seeking an actress that similarly meets Mila Kunis look, size and acting ability to work as her stand-in.
MILA KUNIS:
Height: 5'4''
Measurements: 34B - 28 - 32
Shoe: 8-9
Please note her SKIN TONE and the shape of her face...these are important. They want a very close physical match in all aspects for Ms Kunis.
I'd like to know what you are smoking so I can specifically avoid that strain.Originally Posted by TrumanBurbank

That Jim Broadbent section in Atlas with him escaping the nursing home is one of the worst sequences in film.
Cloud Atlas was a phenomenal movie with an outstanding score. Though Sonmi-451 and Robert Frobisher were highlights for me, Timothy Cavendish was hilarious.
I'll still be watching Jupiter Ascending, though. I got some weird Avatar vibe from that synopsis, military coming in saying you need to go to space.
"It's crazy — it's a tough movie," Tatum told MTV News' Josh Horowitz. "We're trying to do stuff that's never been done before, in three different aspects. We're trying to do stuff that's never been done in CG before, we're doing stuff with cameras that's never been done before, and we're trying to do stuff with stunts — like, actual, real stuff so we don't have to use a bunch of CGI stuff."
"We just did a shot yesterday that was unreal. It's a trailer shot," Tatum revealed. "It's something exciting and something kind of scary at the same time, when everybody's sitting around scratching their head going, 'I don't know how we're going to do this shot.' You're just trying things to figure out how to make the shot work."
Tatum said that the Wachowskis are putting him through his paces, but he's optimistic that the end result will be nothing short of phenomenal. "You have a pre-vis that has already been cartooned out to the way they want it to look, and I'm trying to match that in physicality," he explained. "It's crushing, but when you do get it, it's amazing. I just hope we finish the movie — because it's killing me."
Not a big fan of the cast or the story premise but I'm really interested to see how the action scenes pan out in here

Pretty sure that's how JGL felt when shooting Inception's lobby scene. It's not part of actor's job. There's enough experts on set to take care of it.Originally Posted by angular graphics

Nevertheless sounds interesting.

I hope that logo which we've seen a couple of times already is not the official one (it's lame!).The notice advises crews will be hanging lights for the movie under the el structure beginning on July 1. It also states they will be working on Lake Street from Franklin to LaSalle from July 1 to July 3 and on Wells from Randolph to Wacker from July 5 to July 7. Though the notice doesn’t specify which days they will actually be filming, we assume some filming will take place during this period (not just set up).
Originally, the movie was expected to begin on June 24 but the Chicago start date was pushed to July, presumably because the movie’s star, Channing Tatum, has been busy doing press for his current film, White House Down. The cast and crew has already spent more than 2 months filming at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK, too.
