First time 3ds owner and first Fe game ever for me. Question. Am I doing myself a disservice by skipping all the cut scenes and just waiting to fight? I sometimes like to watch the animation because I think it's very well done, but the story side of the game I have no interest in. I'm still early in the game, ch 5 or so. Should I start paying attention to the story?

By cutscenes do you mean the actual dialogue text too? I think you should probably skim it so you at least know what's going on. There are a few events you may want to keep an eye out for. Imo I don't blame you for skipping them because they can be tedious to read but it's worth paying attention to understand why certain events have occured.

If it gets too boring then ehh you don't have to pay close attention to it.

What weapon rank is Lissa at for Staffs? Physic is C ranked, so Lissa needs to be at least C ranked.

You would normally choose it to use, but her staff level might be too low. She needs a level C in staves before being able to use it.

I got the game yesterday and on chapter 3. Hard/Classic. Some of my units are lagging behind in levels because I don't want to send them out to get demolished. Any tips? Any particular characters I should be focusing on the most? And should I do any forging yet?

You really need to pay attention to the text, you may miss some characters because you decided to skip the chat and never got the hint.

1) That's normal, there is not enough game in the main campaing to train everyone without going out of your way to grind random battles. Pick the ones you like the most and ignore the rest. If you do decide to replay the game, pick a different set of units to train.

2)If playing on normal/hard: DO NOT USE FREDERICK. He is a overleveld underpowered unit. His actual level is = current level + 20, so he looks good but his stats are shit for his actual level, and since he is really over level 20 he gets little exp per kill compared to other units, so he will just eat exp and not grow at all. Imagine a random RPG, the dev gives you a +30 level unit along your main party. This level 30 unit is strong compared to the others but his stats are like a level 15-16 of the same class. He, being at such a high level will barely get exp per fight/kill. That's Frederick.

On the other hand, Donny is a beast, babysit him till level 10 (or 15 if you want to go for his second skill) and turn him into a Merceneary, he will proced to destroy everything and everyone. From that point he can solo the entire game, final boss included.

3) I would not bother with foging (unless it's to get a stronger lance for donnel)

Any idea when exactly that's supposed to arrive? I know it's this month but I don't recall a more precise timeframe.

OK thanks. I'm finding it a little hard to ignore Fredrick at the moment because if I don't use him the enemies will just crush everyone. Also I'm trying not to lose any units so it's tough. Right now I'm building up MU + Chrom because they can take some hits and are reasonably powerful and Kellam due to his strong armor.

Exactly why I'm worried; HLJ stopped orders maybe a day or so ago and put a notice of release around the 31st, but that's gotta be a placeholder still. Is it normal for figures to reveal the date so late?

At least, make it so he doesnt get the finishing blow, give him a really weak weapon, or unequip his weapon so he cant fight back. Spam heal with one of your healers.

Very random but the cyber-punk thread go me thinking, would a more modern Fire Emblem with guns and ammunition work? I think it would be an awesome spin-off if done right. The weapon system would have to be more complex since you will probably have to deal with pistols, automatic rifle, snipers, shot guns, etc.Classes could range from commanders, assassins, tech and bomb specialist, medics. Areas could include urban areas, jungles, buildings, etc. I'd play it. lol

SMT X Fire Emblem might bring a modern element to the game.

Very true. I have not yet played SMT but I wonder how they will make it work with FE. Hell, anything mixed with Fire Emblem should be interesting.

Still that game was THE game of the 3ds launch. And it is still on my top 10 3ds games. (I dont have a top 10. but if I had GH:SW would be 10th no matter what)

I hardly knew ye. As of late, Nintendo has been very selective about what franchises they want to develope for. Who knows, maybe with the success of this game IS will have a chance to make another one after SMT x FE.

But yea Shadow Wars seems to have the basic idea down even with some elements from FE. It looks decent, but I think IS could make it less generic in design and with better animation. lol. Good example though, I never would've guessed Shadow Wars was out there. The Shadow Wars in the title reminds me too much of Fire Emblem so I thought it was fake. >.>

heh. Oh it was a launch title. Either way it's a great concept.

Killer edge and Astra is so far and by far the best attack animation I've seen in this game, I saw like 3 conseq crits , after it's during it's flurry of slash, first time it happens your like whoa since it doesn't seem to waste as much time calling out your crits so it's just a massacre.

The mainstoryline is bad and entirely ignorable. The support conversations are different matter though.

OK Gaf I need some clarification on something. The seals that you use to transform a class into an advanced class can only be used right at the moment that char is level 10!?

For example Donnel is level 15 now, and I can change him now until level 30? Or better yet I have an archer, mage, and my 2 healers all at level 10 now but I have not hit the story point where the seals become available to purchase...so what I just have to not use them if i planned to advance them!?

This seems super janky, or am I not understanding how the system works. To be clear this is my first fire emblem game.

For Donnel, you need Socond Seals to reclass him to other class since Villager is one of the special class that can't promote, but have 30 levels caps instead of 20. But if you use Second Seals on Donnel or other characters with special class, they can be reclassed to second tier class like Wyvern Lord, Hero, etc. But that isn't exactly recommended since second class tier require higher EXP to level up, thus resulting in less total stats.

This is why I want to advised you against promoting your unit early. It is recommended for every unit to went through reclass once to toher unpromoted unit to get their stat high and not having difficulties in later chapter.
