Awful. Awful. Awful picks every god damn time.
I'm already addicted.
PM if you so desire, with money offers JK before I get banned, no money just a promise you'll play it
I agree, but I'm not including snide remarks for no reason. I'm including snide remarks because reading one sentence of a post, stopping reading, posting "I stopped reading here," and then posting exactly the same thing the original poster did, but doing so in attempted disagreement because you didn't actually read the post, is not conducive to constructive conversation.Originally Posted by Mobius and pet octopus

I think you're right about this as well. From my perspective, I spent a little to get started, but now I don't envision myself ever needing to spend money again, the gold payouts are just so generous for a casual player who plays 5-10 games a day (which I still think is a fair amount).I think they're in a pickle atm. There's no huge incentive for people to spend lots of cash on this game. Even the whales of f2p can get all the cards and stop spending cash. Extra cards can stimulate some spending, but it's not that easy to bring out a whole set, especially if you don't plan on having blocks.
Now that I play arena only every once in a while, I have no reason to ever spend any cash - great for me, but bad for blizz. Comparing it to other f2p games, like Mobas - in those, even if you play very casually, you still have incentive to buy a skin or similar.
Meanwhile, people are complaining they don't give out enough gold, which I really don't understand, well because I don't play hours and hours of the game a day I guess. If they do ever increase the gold payout by a substantial amount, I hope they add more gold sinks, because otherwise in enough time my reserves will probably hit 5 or 6 figures.
I think the current model is pretty good. The more you play the more you'll want additional gold, the more likely you are willing to spend (considering they already spend so much time with the game anyway).I think you're right about this as well. On the other end of the spectrum, they don't get much monetary value out of occasional players like you and me but at least we're giving out positive word of mouth, both about the game itself and its (for us) fair business model.
I don't mean to be rude, but I think you are rather the exception than the norm. What's your average arena record like? It's easy not to spend real money if you are constantly going 9-0 or 9-1 in arena games.I think you're right about this as well. Do you save up dailies and do them all every 2-3 days?
I'm in a similar boat, though I haven't spent any money. I'd actually be willing to pay some money to support the game, but there just doesn't seem to be any reason to. The gold rewards from dailies and Arenas are more than generous enough to build a decent collection without spending too much time.I think you're right about this as well. Of course, some people seem to be approaching the game with an MMO mentality. They want to grind countless hours every day to complete their card collection ASAP, and get frustrated because this tactic isn't effective. The thing is, Blizzard doesn't want players grinding this way. They get no money from these players, it puts additional load of their servers, and once the players complete their collections they'll most likely just complain about having nothing to do before quitting the game. The current payout structure is designed to discourage grinding, not encourage it.
That's three days worth of dailies and if that person decides to spend that gold for arena and gets a shit draft then it's all down the tube. I would hardly say it's "easy" or "quick" to build a fast collection. For the person who spent no money who is a "casual" player that seems like real quick progression.
If your not doing dailies and just want to grind wins for arena well that's 3 wins for 10g so that's 45 games a person has to win a day if they want to participate in arena if they have no gold or money and are out of dailies.
I play ~2 battles in the arena a day, and 3-5 constructed matches on average. So the 150g arena fee is usually made up solely by the daily rewards over the course of a single arena run, and then any gold I get from arena is a bonus. While in the beta and perhaps on forums I may be more the exception, in the big picture of all their users when the game is released, I do expect a player averaging around 40-80 games a week like myself to be somewhere around the average, and I think the structure they chose for the arena supports this as well. They could have just as easily made the arena be something you sit through in a single session, or that expires in 12-24 hours after your entry fee is processed, but they instead allow you to split your arena games over the course of years if you desire, drafting a single card a day.Originally Posted by TheSadRanger

Perhaps what makes me different from other people with similar amounts of games per week is the breakdown of play vs arena. Mine is like 25% arena, 75% constructed, where it may be more common to see the reverse.
