I have to give props to FFVIII, even to this day it impresses me at what they got out of Playstation, just do a summon and you know what I mean. I still pop it in from time to time and when I summoned Diablos for the first time in ages I thought, "WTF? That's PS1?!"

N64 graphics

looking back, I think there are lot of unique looking games for that system. sometimes the blurry textures really add to the game, in my opinion (Hybrid Heaven, i loved that game). sort of how the gritty 32 bit textures of playstation add to Metal Gear Solid or Silent Hill's enviornments.
Tobal 2 on PSX still looks great, as does the original game. Star Fox 64 still looks good to me also |

Well over 100 posts and only 1 mention of
and no shots of !!! And I don't see any mention of Sure it's a bit plain looking now (even a bit rough around the edges) but still good looking (and the soundtrack ... oh the soundtrack). Add 2d game to the list ![]() And also Raystorm, RayCrisis and Galactic Attack (all Layer Section games) to the list for games that don't look too bad now. |

Because characters are made of seperate limbs that rotate for their animation? Something else? I don't see it. The characters are clearly sprite based despite prerendered. Does that also mean the Donkey Kong Country games are also not 2d games? |

Mischief Makers looks like a 3d game with 2d gameplay to me...it's like saying that the side scroller levels on Ratchet and Clank 3 are 2d simply because it's a side scroller platformer. Or Yoshi Story. Or Klonoa. It's called 2.5D.

When Ratchet and Clank are mainly 3d platforming? Regardless, if that's what you believe, I can't change your mind. And I never liked the '2.5D' term to begin with so I won't start with that.

I was question more of how can a few levels/minigame can make catagorise the rest of Ratchet and Clank as a 2d platformer when the base of the game is 3d. That's like saying the scant few instances of 2d ball rolling makes Metroid a 2d game, or even worse the switch from 3rd person ball mode back to Samus' helmet makes Prime a 3rd person adventure.
But *shrugs* And both versions of Mario 64 look great. Arguement over. :p |

I definitely agree with Kirby 64. Badass little game. And still beautiful.
