Loved Barbrady's bit in the dmv. Actually laughed out loud.
Overall though, nothing special.
Everything else was very boring.
Cartman stuff just sucked though.
Make the animation simple again, kill kenny again, be less story focused and more silly again.
Agreed.I honestly wish Matt n Trey would just say fuck it for one season and take the show back to basics. I always thought it was really weird for a show with deliberately crappy animation to decide that it would all of a sudden have super awesome detailed animation, yet still have everyone move in the same construction paper silly style.

Also, I miss the innocence of the kids. They're too smart sometimes.
Humancentipad, Royal Pudding, City Sushi, to name a few.
If any show deserves to have a 17 season run it's south park. But there's only so many cartman centric episodes I can tolerate and it's reaching the breaking point. I don't find the character interesting anymore, for whatever reason.
It is funny what people see in an episode. It also mocked government and Obama worship and "hero" whistleblowers. It actually made the episode a mess by trying to do to many things. They were going in on an audience (absurdly privacy-obsessed libertarians) who are usually big fans of the show, so I'm not expecting a warm reception for this episode. Wasn't all that funny, but definitely made its point.
The best parts were the Alec Baldwin stuff and Butters confessions. I also thought using santa as the ultimate spy tool was clever.
His voice and personality have changed over the years. He used to be over-reactive and stupid, immature and intolerant but all with a flair of naivety and innocence... now he's stupid for the sake of being stupid, intolerant for the sake of being intolerant. I love Cartman but the spirit of the character has changed significantly since about season 12.I didn't like the episode a whole lot, but it was still watchable. The alec baldwin stuff just kept coming and I didn't think any of it was funny. Butters was the highlight of the show like always

Right. This is true for the whole show though. His voice and personality have changed over the years. Yes, it almost reminds me of Homer from the Simpsons. I remember when he used to be a good father that just happened to get into bad situations every now and then because he had bad luck. Now he is just a mean person trying to do bad things. His voice and personality have changed over the years. Maybe a few of the episodes will be stinkers cause most of the creative muscle is working/worked on the Stick of Truth game.
The characters this most applies to(in my opinion) are Cartman, Kyle, Randy, and sometimes Butters. Their current personality traits are just parodies of their old selves. Stan and Kenny remain mostly untouched, as do the rest of the students and school staff.Originally Posted by Spieler Eins
Okay episode (after a terrible start). Butters was kinda weak.
Right. This is true for the whole show though.
They tried to make fun of both sides as usual, but they didn't really do it well. It was confusing to understand what they were getting at, and I just didn't think it was very funny.
but how long did they have to drag that joke out?The beginning was pretty funny. I can't stand people who talk on their phones like that.
The characters you list are pretty much the main cast now, though. Very little variation left. The concept of touching the latest news/trends also feels way forced nowadays compared to pre-12.The characters this most applies to(in my opinion) are Cartman, Kyle, Randy, and sometimes Butters. 100% disagree.I honestly wish Matt n Trey would just say fuck it for one season and take the show back to basics. Make the animation simple again, kill kenny again, be less story focused and more silly again.
The first few seasons of the show featuring super basic juvenile humor had nothing provocative to say at all. South Park of 2013 may be less universal in the type of topics that it tries to address than South Park of 1997; but it sure as heck is more interesting to watch.
I for one heavily disagree... the first 4~5 seasons are pretty lame when compared to the amazing social satire on display in seasons 6~10. What made South Park great isn't that it was silly, but how pinpoint accurate the guys where on so many issues.I honestly wish Matt n Trey would just say fuck it for one season and take the show back to basics. The intro was quite rough, it did not look polished at all, don't like
nah 4 and especially 5 are great. 1 is the only unwatchable season really.I for one heavily disagree... the first 4~5 seasons are pretty lame when compared to the amazing social satire on display in seasons 6~10. I wouldn't say any of it is unwatchable... but the first 3 seasons have the lamest humor, yeah. 4 and 5 are great, as they clearly demonstrate a growing tendency towards whistleblowing... but not 6~10 levels, though. :POriginally Posted by Real Hero

The episode seemed to really drag on. The voices of some of the characters also seemed really weird. I felt like Butters sounded like more of a wimp, Cartman sounded kinda off, and Cartman's mom sounded like a whole different character.
Did anyone else notice anything weird about the voices? Am I crazy?
I love both kinds of South Park. The early seasons had humor that was more quirky and whimsical, which made for a lot of constant, unexpected laughs.I for one heavily disagree... the first 4~5 seasons are pretty lame when compared to the amazing social satire on display in seasons 6~10. it was an ok episode
