GAF! Help me decide if I should get this rare deadly african scorpion!!!
#1
I have a friend who knows someone who wants to get rid of it. It comes with a tank and setup kit, all for the low low price of $0. The only problem is if I get stung by it, I can die....which has it's drawbacks. I know how you guys love pics, so here's a decent one:

What do you need to feed it?
I guess the answer is based on how quickly you think the novelty will wear off. It's certainly something that would be awesome to show off and admire, but you obviously can't play with it. |

How long does it take the venom to paralyze someone?
Is it enough time to type up a "Just got stung by a rare deadly African scorpion... help me GAF!" thread? |

I'll have to get feeding info from the current owner. I would expect I could just throw in some crickets like I already do for my evil spider. heh.

Hmm....
I like to weigh positives and negatives in these cases... Drawbacks ------------- You have to feed it You have to clean it's tank It's not a very friendly pet It can kill you Won't clean up all the food you dropr from the table, saving you the work It can kill you Will require care to make sure it stays in it's cage IT CAN KILL YOU Positives ---------- ....its...rare? |

I would take it, just be very very careful with it, don't put the tank anywhere where it can fall and break or anywhere it can tip over and let the scorpion out. Even if you don't wanna keep it, take and then sell it for big $$$

"Under no circumstances should this species be kept by other than scientists or professional keepers. This is a very dangerous species!"
I guess you would cause major freakage if it somehow escaped. |

Poor scorpion, if it was sent to Olimario it would die of starvation because he was too busy playing Kirby's Air Ride.

Can you develope a tolerance to it's venom like you can Iocane powder??
If so, go for it. Totally cool pet. Just be careful! |

I don't see the appeal of having a lethal pet. Then again, I hate insects and anything that resembles them (not sure which category a scorpion falls under).

I would say no. There are plenty of cool-looking arachnids and insects that are safe to keep, if that's your thing. I'd try to find a zoo or university zoology department or something for your friend to give it to. Maybe when you find a qualified home for the scorpion you can keep the tank and use it for a less lethal pet.

I would take it in a hearbeat. I'm not at all afraid of lethal animals, i'm more afraid of my neighbors and random people i run into in Hollywood.
I say take it. If fear starts to grip you just donate it to a local college or zoo.... |

You should make a little paper cutout mask of The Rock for him, and set up a "living diorama" with a bunch of Mummy Returns action figures.

Thanks for your replies. I kind of figured some comedy would come of this, which is why I posted. Anyway, I think I'm gonna go for it. As long as I'm not a fool I'll be fine. I can always get rid of it later if it gets all scary and stuff...I'm sure I'll have no problem finding a loving home for a deadly african scorpion.
Anyway, deadly animals need love too. <3 p.s.- how should I break this to my GF?? ![]() |
