which gif? From what I saw the gifs are exactly what I played in the Demo.

Doesnt even have to be an alternate universe. Both games have their own strengths and weaknesses.

I ended up preferring Forza 4 because of its consistent quality, crazy strong audio work, car selection, more exciting racing (due to the varied AI and new tire model) and rivals challenges. But GT5 has a fuckton on offer as well, including day/night transitions, snow, dirt, better IQ and the best damn Nurburgring out there.

Nowadays its hard for me to go back to GT5 because of the high pitched audio alone (Forza 4 seriously spoiled me). That and the AI cars are on rails so the single player races aren't really exciting. Its you against the track, and the other cars are just kind of there.

I'm not sure what AA is being used in see these games though. Forza 5 looks the cleanest from the offscreen vids.

Can someone clarify why 1280x1080 is being used on 16:9 TV's? That just seems wrong.

To be fair in therms of AI on consoles.

Forza 3 > GT5 > Forza 4 * GT5 Spec II is close to Forza 3

When it renders like that I believe the image is squished, then when stretched out for 16:9 it would look normal.

I wouldnt put GT5 above Forza 4's AI for excitement, but would for skill (which is easier to model I'd think). Forza AI has a nice mix of super aggressive, super conservative, idiotic and some decent in-between drivers. Makes the grid feel more dynamic and keeps you on your toes to take advantage of how things play out moment to moment.

Whenever I race AI in GT5 I'm either ahead of the pack or behind them, but I don't feel like there are personalities at work on the track. I can get into one-on-one battles but its more about speed and the line, with the car in front filling in as proxy rather than reacting to my pressure.

I'm hoping for AI improvements to both Forza and GT. Doesnt GT have all that B-Spec data they could use? And Forza 5's Drivatar sounds incredible, if its not just pure marketing make-believe.

Has Evolution mentioned anything about Driveclub's A.I.? I've thrown myself into so many pointless graphical debates I haven't really caught wind of much else.

How do you even begin to compare AI between racing games? The AI has been horrible in every racing game I've ever played.
AI drivers don't drive realistically at all, have no awareness of the player, and they're painfully slow even on the highest difficulty.

Forza 5 car being rolled and shows that front/rear downforce can be damaged. I wonder if GT6 will have the same with the new aero model.

I'm guessing this is in response to the Forza thread.

At least my argument that GT5 looks competitive against next gen racers is kinda validated.

The biggest problem Forza and DC have, in images at least is that GT6 is a goddam beast.

Both the latter lack art design. Forza especially still looks like a game and a HD Forza 4.

1080p and 60fps is hardly an achievement if the game looks lacklustre.

Ridge Racer 7 was 1080p and 60fps at PS3 launch and still looks an arcade beast today:

All's quiet on the DriveClub front. We've seen very little footage with other cars on track as it is. So yeah, I have no idea what to expect from the AI in that game. I figure it's going to involve a lot of rubber-banding like in all the Motorstorms, or is that maybe an unfair assumption?

Forza is the only game where I've learned other drivers by name and seek to destroy them. So I guess that's a plus ;P

But you're right, its a tough nut to crack, so I judge them by how much dynamism they add to a race, and I don't mean how much they try to ram me off the road. But do the drivers just stick to the line or battle each other? Do they make reasonable mistakes? Respond to pressure? Go on the attack after being overtaken? Do they feel like they have a style and personality?

GT5 - Spa, the lighting alone maaaan. Imagine that on the PS4. smh

That track looks a lot more sterile and flat and unimpressive in clear weather. Its amazing how much the overcast weather can help the visuals.

EU release is day and date with the PS4. Unsure about US.

I think I'm a Sadist or something, but I actually like Rubber Band A.I. Puts me on the edge like no other lol. I do with they could implement a way to scale it down on the last lap maybe, but for arcade style racers it's almost mandatory lol.

GT is the daddy, can't hate it but I can be very disappointed in it.

I really wish Forza was more ambitious and stopped trying to please the casuals whilst driving away (very nicely as it happens) everyone who took it a little more seriously, pains me a little to think what it could have become.

DC doesn't register at all, just another arcade game sadly.

This is what I was trying to explain about in the DC thread.

It's overcast, realistically lit but you can still see all the detail.

Truth be told, I don't really know enough about Driveclub to walk away with an impression. I like the lighting, and I like Evolution's previous work. That's all I really have to go by. One thing GT and Forza have are lineage, we know what to expect, and we know what's good.

This is how I see it:

GT6 will have:
- More tracks
- More cars
- Weather
- Day and Night cycles
- Dirt
- Course Creator
- Good physics
- Endurance races with pit stops

Driveclub:
- Next gen graphics
- Online club thing
- Day and Night cycles

Forza 5:
- Next gen graphics
- Livery Editor
- Endurance races with pit stops (????)
- Good physics

GT6 just seems like a better package. If you strip away the fact that the next gen racers look so good, what else is there that excites you so much? For me its nothing.

Different car, and still not as accurate. Check above. And definitely not something that would turn the other one into "shit". You got plenty of other cars to choose from that fit that description.

It figures the one I think looks the best is the one I won't own a system for; Forza 5.

The others are fine, and I'll likely play them all (except that PC game) but GT 6 looks dated to me and DriveClub is probably going to end up being my favorite but right now it's a bit unexciting. I mean GT6 is fine, I played the demo, but it's still a last gen game. Looks amazing in replays, still good while behind the wheel, but let's be honest - graphically it's almost toe to toe with GT5.

Truth be told, of the systems I own or am going to own, Need For Speed Rivals looks the most interesting. Though that's another beast entirely.

That's a good discussion BTW.

First I think the sound in GT games weak... they need to get better... so I'm not defending GT here.

So my opinion... the sound in others racing games seem a bit (and sometimes) a lot "overboosted"... I mean they seems more strong and powerful than real-life... that's good for most people ans seems better. But for me it not works... I prefer a sound close to real-life coming from the cars... and GT at least tried that.

There are some car example in GT5 that sound holy close to real-life if you a good surround sound system (Gallardo is a good example).

While I want to see a better and accurate sound in GT games (they need to deliver it) I really don't want a Forza "boosted" sound in my sim racing life.

forza 4 does distort sounds a bit much but without it it would sound sterile like forza 3, gt5 is even worse than forza 3 imo they really need to improve its beyond a joke now, i swear some of the sounds are still in use from the gran turismo 3 days

I think they are... old cars are not remade for PS3 (that means assets and sound)... the sound recorded for previous GTs are used to new GTs... only the new cars and new recorded sound cars looks better.

I like more Forza 3 sound than Forza 4 sound... Forza 4 is too artificial IMO.

PS. Another think that I like more in GT than Forza... the realistic color pallete and lighting... Forza looks like toy to me.
