ABOUT THE SHOW | PREMIERES OCT 9TH
After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, Oliver desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of "Arrow", a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory.
Please be aware that from here on, any information presented here will assume prior knowledge of Season One events and characters (Season 1 OT). If you haven't seen the first season, then it's advisable that you see it first and avoid the paragraphs below. Don't forget to use spoiler tag if you want to discuss plot point that has not been shown as part of the episode yet. Especially if it's related to the character's story from the comic books.
CAST AND CHARACTERS
Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen/The Arrow)
Amell plays Oliver Queen, the son of a billionaire Robert Queen. Oliver lived the life of an unencumbered rich playboy until tragedy struck in the South China Sea. Losing his father after their yatch capsized in a brutal storm, Oliver found himself stranded for 5 years on a harsh, barren and brutally dangerous island. Upon his rescue, he emerged form the harrowing ordeal a different man. When he returns to his family and friends in Starling City, Oliver continues to assume his rich playboy personality while keeping secret of his war against crime as The Arrow.
Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak)
Richards plays Felicity Smoak, an M.I.T graduate and self-described uber-hacker with a mysterious past. Felicity is the most recent addition to The Arrow's team and just as determined as Oliver and Diggle to save Starling City from those who seek to destroy it. Optimistic and disarmingly charming, Felicity is sweetly naive enough to see the good in everyone. But her hopefulness could lead to heartbreak when her long-standing crush on Oliver threatens to complicate their relationship as well as her beloved job as The Arrow's resident computer genius.
David Ramsey (John Diggle)
David Ramsey is John Diggle, a former Army Ranger who now works for elite private security. Diggle is hired by Moira Queen to be Oliver's chauffeur and protector. The stoic Diggle soon finds himself trapped in a battle of wits, however, as Oliver not only refuses, but repeatedly eludes his vigilance and protection. Diggle's primary conflict is one of loyalty - whether to serve his employer and protect her son or allow Oliver the freedom to wage his one-man war as The Arrow against the city's underworld.
Manu Bennett (Slade Wilson)
Manu Bennett plays Slade Wilson, a soldier who came to Lian Yu on a mission but ended up abandoned on the island. Despite the brutal conditions on the island, Slade manages to survive until a naive Oliver stumbles into his life. Initially dismissive of the wealthy castaway, Slade soon realizes that Oliver could be his ticket off Lian Yu and starts to train him to be a warrior. As the two men battle evil elements on the island, Slade develops a paternal bond with Oliver.
Katie Cassidy (Dinah Laurel Lance)
Cassidy is Laurel, an attorney at Starling City and Oliver's onetime girlfriend who got heartbroken when Oliver not only seduced her younger sister, Sara, but also took her on a doomed yacht trip where she tragically perished. When Oliver seemingly returns from the dead to make amends, she's coldly disdainful towards him, unwilling to forgive the once-foolish, squandering rich brat whose irresponsibility led to her sister's death. At the same time, she suddenly finds she has a mysterious protector looking after her in fighting her battles against the corrupt mobs of Starling City.
Colton Haynes (Roy Harper)
Haynes plays Roy Harper, a bad boy who grew up on the streets of The Glades and has committed various minor criminal acts. It isn't until he has a deadly run-in with a lunatic killer in season 1 and is unexpectedly saved by The Arrow that Roy has a true change of heart. Indebted to The Arrow for saving his life, Roy becomes a secret one-man army, fighting crime at night and hanging out with Thea by day. But when Thea finds out how he's been spending his nights, she demands that he give up his mission, forcing Roy to decide what he wants more: a life with her or the lonely life of a hero.
Summer Glau (Isabel Rochev)
Glau is Isabel Rochev, the vice president of acquisitions at Stellmoor International, with a goal of acquiring Queen Consolidated. She is on "The List" for an unspecified reason. It's unclear at the moment if he'd be an ally or adversary to Oliver and The Arrow.
Paul Blackthorn (Detective Quentin Lance)
Paul Blackthorn returns as Laurel's father, Quentin Lance, a gruff yet determined Starling City detective who believes that true justice an only stem from law and order. This instantly causes him to clash with the individual known as "The Arrow". Currently charged with bringing the vigilante to justice, he also coincidentally harbors a longstanding grudge against Oliver Queen for the death of his youngest daughter, Sara. What he doesn't realize yet is that the two men he hates the most in the world are one and the same.
Willa Holland (Thea Queen)
Holland stars as Thea Queen, who was only 12 years old when both her father and brother, Oliver, disappeared on their fateful yachting voyage. She has since learned to mask the pain of that loss with life as celebutante, testing the boundaries of acceptable behavior. When Oliver returns with a new set of personalities, she finds herself unprepared to accept Oliver, who was once a party boy himself, to step in as the family's paternal character, restricting her access to the high life she's so readily indulged in.
EPISODIC PROMOSSusana Thompson (Moira Queen)
Thompson plays Moira Queen, a wealthy and powerful woman remarried to Queen's Consolidated's current chief executive Walter Steele, during the 5 years that her former husband, Robert, and her son, Oliver were both presumed dead. As a result, Moira has had free reign over the Queen empire and fortune and while she is grateful her son is alive, she's now the keeper of the Queen family's darkest secrets. Secrets that will undoubtedly conflicts with The Arrow's agenda.
Celina Jade (Shado)
Shado is a former prisoner of Edward Fyers on Lian Yu, and a Chinese lawyer. She is also the daughter of the late Yao Fei, and one of the former mentors and friends of Oliver Queen. She was used as leverage by Edward towards Yao Fei, in order to make him join Edward's cause, until Oliver and Slade Wilson rescued her. She is possibly the one who taught Oliver Mandarin Chinese, given that Yao Fei died before being able to teach him much.
Grant Gustin (Barry Allen)
Grant Gustin will portray Barry Allen, a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who arrives in Starling City to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed with The Arrow, unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante.
