That and the quirkiness of a lot of Japanese games leads to instant humour that even non gaming enthusiasts understand.
GamesWipe was probably like the first thing in a while to acknowledge there are games outside of Call of Duty and Mario. Baby steps. Also needs to make more mention of Japan this time. GameSwipe was pretty western orientated which is odd when you consider two of the three console manufacturers are Japanese.

I saw him in my local Sainsburys a few months back (I work there). Looked like a hobo :lol
Was with his wife and child.
Terra and Cele's are like "The fuck!?"video games’ first credible female character, digital cover girl and tawdry teenage boy fantasy – Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft
This is great. Thanks!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QtS-7woh7g
You should definitely watch this then. It's a games episode that Brooker has already done. It's hysterical as well as insightful and takes a good stance.
That and the fact that Lara Croft is British so of course she was the big name putting us back on the videogaming map.As wrong as the statement might me, you need to remember FFVI never released is the UK. Besides Lara Croft is probably more well known than every female FF character put together. Heck any female character except possibly Peach
I think the he did a guardian column about his love for japanese arcades IIRCAlso needs to make more mention of Japan this time. GameSwipe was pretty western orientated which is odd when you consider two of the three console manufacturers are Japanese.

https://twitter.com/charltonbrooker/...49988936028162So I'm fronting a one-off 2-hour doc called How Videogames Changed the World on C4 in late Nov. Everything from Pong to Papers, Please...
If you excuse the British-ness, that's jolly well good and a bloody brilliant idea, lad.
Hah! I don't have THAT much of an impact on things, sadly. ;)Originally Posted by Hot Coldman

Ergo, this is probably going to be wonderfully daft.
It will still very much be a TV documentary about videogames, so don't expect anything massively mental - I've just done my best to ensure that it isn't the usual "SPACE INVADERS LOL" tripe that we've seen in the past. My main role was fleshing out the structure and discussion points within the show, and helping to choose the games the show is going to talk about.
And hell, if he happens to use one of my jokes along the way? I'll die a happy man. :)
This was my biggest worry. Thank you good sir. The only bit of your work I've encountered were the abridged videos. I was in tears.Originally Posted by Jam_Sponge

Yes!
This is going to be GREAT!!!
Well, that's great to hear. Gameswipe kinda did the whole "here's what video games are if you somehow tuned in by accident" so I'm glad that it's not going to be a re-do of that.Originally Posted by Jam_Sponge

Nice to hear that Cara Ellison is involved too! Another very funny, very smart writer.

Edit/ and then they are showing Indie Game: The Movie afterwards, seems to be all of the video games night.
Sounds good, the show also features Jonathan Ross and Dara O'Briain who are both big gamers. It's on Saturday 30th at 9PM according to the channel 4 website http://www.channel4.com/programmes/c...nged-the-world

Hopefully Graham Linehan is involved too, I preferred him over Dara O'Briain on Gameswipe. His stories were the best.
Where did I leave that Banderas gif?
I think it's the fact that he's married to Konnie Huq and yet he's still a miserable bemoaning sod. /salt
Brooker fans, watch A Touch of Cloth. Found it bloody hilarious.
Ahh man I've already seen that, but still sounds like a good night's viewing! It's on Saturday 30th at 9PM according to the channel 4 website http://www.channel4.com/programmes/c...nged-the-world

I just Wiki'd that and thanks for bringing it into my existence. I'm a fan of Brooker's TV critiques but I totally missed this!Have you watched Black Mirror?!
Link to said confession?Yeah, I'm talking more about his confession about toning down his attacks on celeb culture, t'was a sad read.
To be fair, it's harder to attack the "celeb culture" when a) you're part of it and thus b) you're going to meet lots of people in the "celeb culture", some of which may express a disagreement with your "attacks" by having a impromptu meeting between their fist and your nads.Yeah, I'm talking more about his confession about toning down his attacks on celeb culture, t'was a sad read.
