Oh God, there is your problem. You are missing so much. Shit gets wild.Got mine about a month ago. It'll take about an hour to do the system update, to set up your Mii (you can easily just transfer over the one you have on 3DS so they're the same), to set up your eshop, to get netflix and youtube updates, etc. W101 has a small update as well.
It'll be the last time you have to worry about it really. It can download all of them in sleep mode when you aren't even using it. Just set it up to download today, and then go get some food. When you come back it'll be done.
And yeah, NSMB U is so much better than I expected. If you liked Super Mario World on SNES at all, you have to own it. Super Luigi U is hard as fuck too, so if you want more challenge to go with it (you will) it's totally a worthy purchase as well.
I'd recommend getting more than W101 honestly. It has a steep learning curve. People on here like to pretend its perfect, but I got it too, and I haven't gone back to it after that first hour. You'll either love it or hate it. I fully intend to go back to it later, but I'm just saying, you'll probably want something else to play along with it. Getting the Mario bundle would have probably been a better value, and then getting NintendoLand used (I got it for $15). Either way is fine though.
I very highly recommend Zelda WW HD (I got this bundle). It makes smart use of the gamepad, and it's drop dead gorgeous, and you will get sucked into the MiiVerse very quickly.
As far as transferring games over, I haven't done it yet. I need to. Once you transfer your games and saves, they won't be on the Wii anymore though. It'll basically be a slim Gamecube and backup Wii at that point.
Yeah, this needs to be priority #1 for their updates. Imagine Xenoblade on the gamepad, off TV play.
I picked up the mario+luigi bundle at my wal-mart, it was literally the last one there, I was actually wanting the nintendoland bundle but Im happy with this bundleSooner the better on those. When I got mine it was the last one at the store. The Mario bundle is just as good though. Great value there.
Thanks dude. I also found this!Originally Posted by foxuzamaki

Super helpful.
Read the details on a bunch of the available ones. I see on the last page there's a grade 7 wii u.. which pretty much means it's in perfect condition but it' missing a couple side accessories. With the deal Cowboom 10, you can get this for about $200 even after shipping. I bought a grade 6 last week and it should be here on monday night. Mine didn't come with the game, nor the gamepad stand but I bought one on amazon for $7 and I don't really care for nintendo land.
I own it, and I fully intend to dive into it when I have the time. But now with school and work, I don't. Going to run through it over winter break.Oh God, there is your problem. You are missing so much. Shit gets wild.
It's great to play NSMB U off TV, or sail around in WW HD a bit. Very relaxing, and you can enjoy it in short sessions.
I'm not saying W101 is a bad game, because I haven't beaten it yet or fully learned everything. But, I can definitely see someone turning on their new Wii U, only having that game, hitting the learning curve, and then having nothing to really play for a while. Feeling comfortable with the controls can be hit and miss, especially near the beginning.
It won't be easy. They only did one or two shipments and they're basically gone.
That's what I was afraid of. I just kinda want it because I have the SS Wii Remote AND its Club Nintendo nunchuck as well as the black and gold OoT 3DS, and it would be cool to stay consistent. As it stands today, all the major retailers still have it online.Sooner the better on those. When I got mine it was the last one at the store. The Mario bundle is just as good though. Great value there.
NSMBU + Luigi for £219.99 at number 53 in the Amazon UK gaming bestselling 100

It seemed that most places didn't order too many. WalMarts had one or two, GameStop had none in store. Only Best Buy had more than five when I looked.Originally Posted by Chie Satonaka

I ended up getting the bundle at WalMart w/ WWHD.
NSMBU/NSLU are great games but I get you. You can always leave those for some droughts later. I have to pick up W101, Pikmin 3, Deus Ex, Batman AC and NFSMWU myself. The latter two are pretty cheap.
And welcome aboard, everyone counts, lol.
OP, be aware that if your Wii U is set to output at 1080p and your TV is set to 1:1 pixel mapping, you'll see some thick borders around most Wii games. This is actually a good thing, the image is scaling better so it's less blurry than it would be otherwise. The other thing the Wii U now does (since the last update I think) is automatically display 4:3 games in 4:3 so you don't have to change your TV settings, which is really nice. It displays properly if you clone the image onto the pad, too.
Ah man, you are missing out. It's one of the absolute best 2D Marios ever. You could have just played it sometime later! And I usually feel the same as you -- when a new game in a series is coming out soon, I avoid playing earlier entries in the series to avoid burnout. But I think NSMBU feels pretty different from 3D Land style Mario. Before anyone asks, I didn't pick up the Mario/Luigi U bundle because I didn't want a Mario overdose before next Friday.
Anyways, definitely pick it up sometime!

I welcome a change of pace and some challenge in a genre Ive never really been an ace at. I think I'll be okay. If Im getting my ass handed to me Ill always consult the OT.I'm not saying W101 is a bad game, because I haven't beaten it yet or fully learned everything. I think Nintendoland will be a good even-outer until next Friday. I also wanted to finally get my hands on Earthbound because even though i grew up with it I never got a chance to experience it.
I understand why you didn't pick up NSMBU, but later down the line, I'd still recommend it if you are at all a fan of the older 2D Marios. Mechanically, it's really one of the best.
Yep. I honestly didn't like the NSMB series much, but this game convinced me. It's basically the spiritual successor to Mario World on SNES. The air spin move just adds so much finesse to platforming. It's subtle, but I really love it.Ah man, you are missing out. It's one of the absolute best 2D Marios ever. Picking up NSMB 2 on 3DS soon because I enjoyed U so much.

It has better games than the other 2 next gen consoles.
Buy Mario 3D World once it's out.
I still play my Wii games on my Wii. I guess I can compare myself, but just curious in the context of this thread (also not at home right now).
So far NSMBU is not matching Super Mario World on SNES at all. Not even close.Yep. I honestly didn't like the NSMB series much, but this game convinced me. Does NSMBU have unlockable levels in the world map? Genuine question.
I haven't found any secret ones yet, no. I haven't beaten it yet by the way.So far NSMBU is not matching Super Mario World on SNES at all. Not even close.

But considering Luigi U adds 82 new levels, I guess they just set it up differently. If they had all that ready right away, they might have made those unlockable.
Some levels have secret exits (red flag pole) that will unlock hidden levels, or give you a shortcut to a new world. Similar to SMW with the keys, but without actual keys.So far NSMBU is not matching Super Mario World on SNES at all. Not even close.

Huh? Maybe I'm misunderstanding something here, but NSMBU has one secret level in each world. Many act as nice shortcuts in fact.I haven't found any secret ones yet, no. I haven't beaten it yet by the way.

Awe shit. I changed my mind. It's close to SMW then. Some levels have secret exits (red flag pole) that will unlock hidden levels, or give you a shortcut to a new world. Similar to SMW with the keys, but without actual keys.
How have I not found any yet... i've three starred the first two worlds....
Edit: Just one hidden level per world? :(
Maybe I'm not counting those as secrets? Or maybe I missed a shitload of levels? lolOriginally Posted by RobFox64tm

I don't know, I'd have to double check when I get home. I'm on soda jungle, so I probably would have found them by now. But I haven't gone back to max out star coins just yet.
I guess I need to go back and start cleaning up for 100%.
Yes, it's got at least one unlockable level in the first seven worlds via secret exits, if that's what you mean...and several shortcuts via secret exits.Does NSMBU have unlockable levels in the world map? Genuine question.
EDIT: There are 94 flagpoles (including fortresses, airships and castles). This applies to both NSMBU and NSLU.
I think Soda Jungle has a secret levels that also serves as a shortcut to the second castle, and also has another secret exit that leads to a shortcut to the next world (but no secret level I guess if the 1 per map thing is true, I can't recall atm).Maybe I'm not counting those as secrets? Or maybe I missed a shitload of levels? lol

ZombieU is the only true survival horror game to be released in the last 6 years or so (OK there was SH:Downpour). That may be enough to sell me on a WiiU, but for some reason I just can't pull the trigger yet.
Oh yeah, this is my first post so please ban kthanxbye
They actually aren't that obvious. If you aren't actively looking for them, you could very well miss them easilly.Maybe I'm not counting those as secrets? Or maybe I missed a shitload of levels? lol

Splinter Cell Blacklist, Deus Ex HR: DC, and Sonic Racing Transformed are good too. Deus Ex in particular.Originally Posted by Linkhero1
