I played more Sega Racing Transformed with the kids today, 3 players, one on the gamepad is great as the TV is just split by two. Great and very very crazy tracks, specially the last ones. Thanks so much for all the info and help guys I really appreciate it!
I'm headin home from work in a little while but Ill absolutely be sure to update the thread with my VC transfer success and what I think of the system tonight. Really looking forward to it!
Yeah, I just tried Mario Galaxy last night for the hell of it and I was pretty stunned at how good it looked thanks to HDMI and the Wii U's upscaling.Originally Posted by cyberheater

It still looks jagged to shit, but it didn't even look leagues away worse from the ps3/360 like it did on the Wii over component.
Man this is some hi tech shit right here. I was giddy as fuck when the pad hooked up to my television controls. The pad is a bit bigger than I expected but its really, really comfortable.
The system itself is just beautiful. Simple, sleek and sexy.
It's really one of those things that seems like it would be ugly and uncomfortable when you see it in pictures.Im downloading the update now.

Yep, another satisfied user, glad to hear. Enjoy!!Im downloading the update now.

WW is WW and looks gorgeous.
Wonderful 101 is deceptively difficult. Went in expecting it to be fairly simple, at least in the first few levels and ramp up, but no, got my arse handed to me multiple times on Normal. The game has a cliff face as a difficulty curve. But I'm loving the cheesiness and humour in the game.
ZombiU I'm rather suprised at. I went in expecting an alright, but fairly "launch title" game, and, while I've only played an hour or so, it seems quite deep and interesting, it really shows off the hardware features.
From the e-manual, it sounds like you can use the sewers to fast travel to the same area as your now-zombified previous character. Not sure if thats what you meant.I have a ZombiU question - each time you die, do you always start from the original spot and have to work your way through to where you were with the next character? Are there shortcuts to get to where you were quicker?
I enjoyed the demo, but could see it getting frustrating restarting from the bunker every time and walking through a bunch of places you've already been.
EDIT: OH! And I checked out the Rayman Legends demo. Castle Rock has made me want to rush out and buy the game. Now. But everywhere is closed :(

why buy one this close to BF for full price ?
Im sure rayman is on eshop tooOriginally Posted by Angel Abaddon

Its possibly just a matter of getting use to it after using a 360 pad for the past 8 years, but I find it slightly uncomfortable to hold with the buttons swapped with the right stick and index fingers on the ZR/ZL buttons for Zelda. I'm also not the only one, as a friend said he's had the same issue. Again, may just need some adjustment period, its not caused issue with me playing it, just find myself adjusting my hand position more than I'd like. It's really one of those things that seems like it would be ugly and uncomfortable when you see it in pictures.

It is, but until Nintendo introduce an account linked system rather than hardware linked, I'm going to hold of digital copies where I can, unless it's a really good deal. Also, its fairly expensive in the UK (I think its Ģ40, whereas most shops have the retail copy for Ģ30ish and Uplay shop has it for Ģ20 atm).Originally Posted by SporeCrawler

It's a fantastic little console with fantastic games.
Glad you made this thread, I'm right behind U (pun intended).Well I bit the bullet and went ahead and picked up the Nintendoland Deluxe on my break along with The Wonderful 101. Kamiya's lovechild and Mario 3D World sent me over the edge, plus I havent seen many deals (Black Friday or otherwise) so I said fuck it.
Before anyone asks, I didn't pick up the Mario/Luigi U bundle because I didn't want a Mario overdose before next Friday. Plus, I look forward to getting used to the gamepad via Nintendoland (which you all said was pretty cool anyway).
I already have a wiimote+, chuk and original pro controller at home. But I do have a couple of questions before I dive in:
- Should I expect a 45 minute - 60 minute update as soon as I turn it on?
- Is there a noticeable visual difference with OG Wii games since they're running through an HDMI? I have a decent library of great titles that'd I'd love to see cleaned up a bit (Twilight Princess comes to mind)
- How does transferring my Wii VC games to the Wii U work? How does that $1.50 charge occur? I have Super Metroid and Super Castlevania 4 on my Wii. Will the U know that I purchased them already or something? I'm guessing I'm not going to be able to transfer over titles like Chrono, DKC or FFIII?
Quoting myself. ;)Couldnt find any upcoming BF deals, I could afford it and I recently cleaned out my PS3 backlog so I needed somethin FRESH.

-Time will vary depending on your internet connection, but it should be alot shorter than back when the system got launched.- Should I expect a 45 minute - 60 minute update as soon as I turn it on?

-Yes, if your HDTV had a bad scaller, chances are they would look crisper on the Wii U. Xenoblade, Pandora's Tower, and Mario Galaxy are good ways to really compare between the quality of component vs HDMI.
-Depends on the number of titles on your VC/WiiWare. Once you have an eShop/MiiVerse/NNID account it will also link it to your Wii account and thus know if you already have purchased those titles. The option to upgrade them to WiiU's VC is up to you.
Titles you've already purchased that have been discontinued from the Wii Shopping Channel will still transfer. However, there are some titles/apps like Lost Winds/Netflix that won't transfer. There are very few and far between.
Going on an hour. Holy shit.
Beer me.
Mine was taking ages too when I got it. If you set the IP address up manually it seems to work better, the DHCP is screwed for some reason so try that if you haven't already :DUpdate # 2

You couldn't do THIS in Super Mario World ;) - blown away every time. Super Mario World is my joint 3rd favourite Mario game after Yoshi's Island and this.So far NSMBU is not matching Super Mario World on SNES at all. Not even close.
Does NSMBU have unlockable levels in the world map? Genuine question.
Also, I'm not sure where the 'hour updates' are coming from - Mine was about 37 minutes.
Haha, NSMBU is pretty good but that video to me doesn't make it seem like GOAT. I think the core gameplay of SMW will always resonate with me the most. It's a bit simpler, but there's nothing wrong with that.Originally Posted by Angel Whispers

What? You're never too old for a Lego game. Especially not for Lego City Undercover. There are many funny popular culture references which are clearly targeted at older gamers (Matrix, Schwarzenegger movies, Indiana Jones etc.). I doubt children get half of the gags found in LCU. Children enjoy it because it's Lego and because of the slapstick, older gamers enjoy it because of the gags and references (and slapstick of course).[...] and my age is telling me Im too old for City Undercover =/
Honestly, I feel adults will get more enjoyment out of the writing in LCU than kids will. They might like the gameplay (which is also great) but the writing is top notch. Best of any Lego game.Originally Posted by Gangxxter

I used the components for my Wii so Im curious to see if there's a difference with the HDMI. It's also gonna depend on games too Im sure. Im not expecting Twilight Princess to be clear of all jaggies believe me.
But for something like Muramasa, Im expecting something a bit more crisp and clear. Hopefully Im right.
Undercover sounds cool. Like Simpsons Road Rage type cartoony GTA clone fun.
Only Nintendo man, only Nintendo.
Diving in to Super Castlevania IV via the Virtual Console. Playing it on the gamepad is heavenly! :) Oh and Super Metroid, Final Fights, Pilot Wings, etc, etc....
I've got Zelda: TWW, Resident Evil: Revelations, Nintendoland, Pikmin 3 and New Super Mario Bros U.
I just played the Sonic Lost Worlds demo. Gotta play it again and wrap my head around it. I'm 50/50 on it at this point.
What deal did you got? Sams Club?I got one yesterday. The Mario bundle since I already have the GC Wind Waker and I'm not interested in Nintendoland. I live in Mexico and this weekend we're having some kind of Black Friday equivalent, so I got close to US$150 in store credit as part of the deal. I used some of it to get Wonderful 101 and I'm saving the rest for 3D World or maybe Pikmin, I'm still not sure.
The update in my case took around 1 hour, but mexican internet is fucking slow so it was actually less than I expected. I really like the Gamepad, Miiverse and the OS, simple and intuitive.
I tried the first levels of New Mario U but I didn't like it that much, hopefully it gets better in the next worlds. I guess I will try Wonderful 101 tonight or tomorrow but I'm confident I'll like it, since I have enjoyed every Platinum game so far, even Madworld which had mixed reviews.
It's a nice console but the eshop looks kinda empty right now, as I'm used to the 3DS version. I'm satisfied with my purchase since there's a decent amount of interesting games right now. I can totally recommend this, maybe not as your primary console if you play more than 3-4 games a month, but definitely worth the price, in my opinion.
And they did a great job. I havent even played anything yet and Ive been pleasantly entertained in a weird way.Originally Posted by Shaanyboi

This system shouldve just been called Wii2. Thats what it is. A simple, but awesome evolution of Wii.
I live in crazy South Florida like a half hour from Miami and my connection is usually spot on awesome. This just took a loooong time.Originally Posted by foxuzamaki

It was probably sitting in the back of GameStop for eight months or more. Haha. The model has lots to catch up on.
Yep, LCU contains so many movie references that would completely fly over kids' heads.Honestly, I feel adults will get more enjoyment out of the writing in LCU than kids will. They might like the gameplay (which is also great) but the writing is top notch. Best of any Lego game.
Sadly, the service that Nintendo uses for their updates is a crap shoot. It all depends on which server you're connected to. Some of them are blazing fast. Some are dirt slow. For sure, It isn't the greatest of all; I did write that Yoshi's Island is MY favourite ;). I also agree that there's nothing wrong with simplicity, and hope you didn't think I was knocking Super Mario World. But I find that there are more ways of playing levels in NSMBU, and while the levels are a lot of fun to play alone, I feel that they really shine in the local multi-player mode, whether you want to troll each other or co-operate - I wonder how many times those players in that clip played together, and how well they knew each other's game to achieve that level of tightness.Haha, NSMBU is pretty good but that video to me doesn't make it seem like GOAT. It doesnt really bother me. Nintendo always nails this peaceful joy that the company has always realized since the 80s of what to severely tap into.Sadly, the service that Nintendo uses for their updates is a crap shoot. This whole loading up process has been a blast. No one else has a setup like this. They kindly ask you for you preferences, awesome Squaresofty Nintendo music plays when youre doing it. It's already like "Holy shit, am I 12 again?"
And holy shit I can tell a difference with the HDMIs. Colors stand out more. More smoothness.
It's magic.
