Framerate is solid. Animation has a kinda stop-motion feel to it, which might be what you're seeing?Great OP (I particularly like the cart)
I will almost certainaily be picking this up.
One thing about all videos I've seen of this is the slightly choppy looking framerate / animation. Anyone else noticed that or is it just me?
Like a REAL platformer. Not a Knackformer or whatever.
Going to be a great day with Mario, Zelda, and this!!!
I've seen plenty of pure platforming gameplay, so yeah I'd say it's a real platformer. So is this an actual platformer or are the Super Mario 64 comparisons just to get my hopes up?

By the way I personally don't consider Mario 64 much of a platformer. I see it as more of an exploration game or a mini adventure game with platforming elements. Honestly Mario 64 seemed more about exploring the open 3D stages than actual platforming. I see Tearaway being more worthy of being called a platformer than Mario 64.
I'm going to prioritise this over zelda (both are out at the same time). Only partly because I'm still replaying WWHD

okay
so much of the game is designed around the vita handheld. the only way i think it would work on vita tv is if the vita could function as a controller.yeah Tearaway is like the prime 'nope' candidate on Vita TV. Everyone will ask for it, everyone will be disappointed :P
sure felt real from the time i spent with it. there were some small segments of helping out little dudes with stuff, or throwing a ball into a hole, but most of the time if there was an area to get to, there was some actual platforming involved. if there was an extra area to get to, there was also some skill involved. it wasn't a third-person brawler like knack was.So is this an actual platformer or are the Super Mario 64 comparisons just to get my hopes up?

Yeah because the entire game is like that. I could post a gif of something similar in a God of War game. I didn't say it has zero platforming. I said it has a bigger focus on exploration. It was a game made to sell the idea of open 3D exploration. There was platforming there but it wasn't the priority of the game the way it is in more linear focused platformers.Originally Posted by XANDER CAGE

Yeah I'm a bit surprised they didn't think it would be good from the get go. Guess it's nice to keep things simple and they did have customisation, but it's not the same encouragement when you have to change it from a male character to female through props.Originally Posted by billsmugs
I think the fact that you can customise both Iota and Atoi to quite a large degree means that it doesn't make much difference really. The addition of Atoi was due to pressure from Siobhan Reddy at Media Molecule:

I don't really like Atoi's design, but I think it's good to have a male/female character choice, especially in a family-friendly game like Tearaway which will hopefully appeal to younger kids as well as the more hardcore audience.
I knew games were a bit cheaper in the US but I didn't realise how much. I thought most new releases were $60? (Or is that just next gen pricing?)

and yah I caught the mario earlier on too :)
Oh totally missed that you already posted that, ok let me find some other ones (I'm checking on twitter with the hashtag someone kindly mentioned) #tearawayphoto - some guy just took photos of all the interesting things in the game as opposed to selfies so I'm backing away to not spoil it.
I hope I can make Iota into knack.Yeah I'm a bit surprised they didn't think it would be good from the get go. Guess it's nice to keep things simple and they did have customisation, but it's not the same when you have to change it from a male character to female through props.

Moderately because while I like LittleBigPlanet, its platforming is the worst part of the game because of the stupid floaty jumps (otherwise it would be fantastic) and because there haven't been much 3D platformers this generation and the recent attempt was an incredible failure (Knack). The most non-Nintendo platforming I've gotten this gen has been in inFamous, for god's sake.
I'm not sure about that 19£ price point too. I just hope it's a real good 3D platformer or I will definitely lose hope.
You might want to check out some of the more recent posts in the Knack OT. Seems like gamers here are having a lot more fun with it than the reviewers did.I'm moderately hyped by this game mostly because I need a real old-school 3D charming platformer without buying a Wii U, I've beaten Crash Bandicoot 2 long enough.

I was worried that it'd be all flash and no substance.

This is the first time in forever I have not heard anyone say something negative about a Vita game. EVERYONE i have talked to in the industry or just regular gamers who have touched it cannot stop gushing about it. It must have something special. Anihawk is buying a Vita just for this game.I would be quasi-shocked if this wasn't receive well. It has everything going for it! What a good time to be a gamer. This, Zelda and Mario 3D World in the same week

I can't even believe I'm getting excited for a game that uses the damnable "blow into mic" mechanic, but I am.

I won't say it's just for this game, it's a decision that has matured gradually with this being the tipping point :)
