Can you check the volume versus the stock earbuds. Does it get much louder? The Rocketfish I have now gets a bit louder than the in ear one that was included but I would still like more volumeBought this on a whim this weekend at Microcenter, tested last night, works flawlessly. People I was in-party with said I sounded fine, no obvious background noise was seeping in, and said I sounded crystal clear. They sounded just fine as well.

So if you're looking for just a chat headset this will work. No mute function unfortunately.
Actual audio quality is fantastic and the surround sound worked very well in BF4. Not bad for a wireless signal. Not bad at all.
Voice quality is good, as is to be expected. Members in my Party were amazed by how clear I sounded.
It's a bit more expensive than the average headset, but I would highly recommend it.
PS4 voice chat is pretty great quality. Pair it was a good headset and you're in for a treat.Spend some time with my new PX4 last night and I'm very happy with it.

I feel like the chat audio quality is a touch higher but the PS4 mic is very sensitive so you end up with all kinds of ambient noises coming through. They really should have spent an extra few bucks and included a better headset but it's better than nothing.Originally Posted by HawksWinStanley
How does the packed in earbud compare to the headset that was packed in with the 360? I'm talking audio quality, not comfort.
- Is it possible to use something like Apple earbuds for just stereo sound, but use the camera as a mic (considering that chat sound is apparently sort of busted through apple earbuds mic)? If this is not possible, can I use some mic-less earbuds for stereo sound, and then use camera as a mic?
- Does chat work correctly through earbuds like the XBA-4IP, which have the microphone, and are meant to be used for iPhone? Or does the mic sound quality suffer through these the same way it does through apple earbuds, because these XBAs are meant to be used for iPhone after all?
I was just about to ask if anyone had tried out the PX4's, now I may need to pick up a set myself.Spend some time with my new PX4 last night and I'm very happy with it.

If anyones thinking about getting one, I recommend it.
The stock earpiece is way too big.
I had a problem with the volume in the stock earbuds, but on this one from Microcenter I've actually turned the volume down a bit it was so loud.Originally Posted by Glorious Ownage

I did this and its super quiet and the audio only came out of one of the speakers. I turned the volume all the way up as well on both the headset and my ps4. Also the mic didn't work. Anyone have these issues?Just plug the pulse headset in directly to the controller using the supplied 3.55mm jack it came with, turn the headset on for better quality sound.
the mic won't work because the contacts are touching the wrong components.Originally Posted by Cap'n Cook

I haven't had any success in any combo I've tried that wasn't 4 pole. You can try a 3.5 female to 3.5 male 4 pole adapter and see if that works.
I don't know about the sound quality of the mic, since I just got it last night and haven't had a chance to use party chat. It does work with voice commands, though. And I have to imagine it is better than something bundled with the console (it had to have been very cheap for Sony to include it with every console and not go above $399). If the sound quality isn't great, I'll have to look for something better. But living in Japan limits my options. Has anyone used an electret (condenser) microphone? I see a bunch on Amazon JP and wonder if they would work.

Not sure if can be used with PS4 but look ridiculously awesome.
On the PS3 I was able to have voice chat audio outputting to both my headset and through HDMI.
On the PS4 it would appear the only option I have is to have voice chat audio coming via ear bud/mic combo if it is plugged in, or via HDMI/OPTICAL if it is unplugged (but not both).
This means there is currently no way to have voice chat heard through both the headset and the TV simultaneously.
Now this is a problem if like me you have HDMI out to your TV and then use the optical cable to power your headphones.
In other words if you are using a headset without a mic then what options do you have? The second you plug a mic into the DS4 controller it effectively stops all chat output to the HDMI/OPTICAL out.
It is almost as if there is an option missing that was previously available on the PS3.
I'm running my PC 360's through a Fiio E17 and it works great, but mic isn't working by itself in the controller.
If I get a Y Adapter, will the mic work plugged into the controller alone, or with a Y adapter does it need both an audio source and mic source plugged into it.
Such a messed up setup I have right now, but whatever!
Thanks for any info!
The included earbud fits no earthly ear I can fathom. Just... how's it meant to go? Where does that sticky-out bit belong?
I tried looking for the options, but it seems the only way to hear chat audio is from a headset or headphone/mic combo (via Y cable) through the controller. It seems the PS4 cannot currently output chat audio to any other source via HDMI or optical. The PS3 did have the option to output chat audio to headset and HDMI or optical simultaneously, but it needs to be patched in for the PS4.This may appear a little off topic but it may apply to some folks looking into this.

Crap, no idea why I thought a 3.5mm mic would work in the DS4. The headphone and mic jack look the same, so I figured they would work, apparently not!

I use a Y cable with headphones and a clip on mic, tried the mic by itself (without the Y cable and with it) and it needs to have the Y cable to function. My clip on mic only has 2 bands (3 pole) on the plug, as opposed to the Y cable's 3 bands (4 pole), so I think that's why it doesn't work alone. However if you use the Y cable with mic but no headphones, there is no way for you to hear chat audio.
the pc360 has a split cable doesnt it? in that case, use a splitter into the DS4. that will output both chat and audio to headset and allow for chat. the only issue is that you are using an awesome set of headphones and you are only getting stereo vs a simulated surround which will sound way better. . but unless you have a receiver or TB or ASTRO amp then you will just do this for now to have voice and audio together with a working mic.Crap, no idea why I thought a 3.5mm mic would work in the DS4. the only option would be to use a USB mic. it may allow for both to pass.
it is an ear bud...not in ear. it should rest on the little cavity above the earlobe. not in your ear canal. hope that explains it? it is meant that way so it does not seal off sound to that ear and you can hear your surround/speakers and chat.As an aside:
The included earbud fits no earthly ear I can fathom. Just... how's it meant to go? Where does that sticky-out bit belong?

PS Vita headsets are amazing piece of hardware. I own 4 and I could never be happier.
It's great for your personal use. You can easily find one for $10 like this one. It has a sliding mute button for mic in case you don't want to talk; most mics don't have a dedicated mute button. It's also has good speakers and microphone.
Best of all, its official too!
I'm glad there are people who liked it choice! I'm sorry if it didn't satisfy the needs of other but I tried to give an honest opinion.
Thanks again for the wonderful PMs! :)
I was not fully happy with it because of chat in only one ear; however, Amazon gave me a complete refund and let me keep them so I can't complain!Originally Posted by shagg_187

Audio quality is excellent and the mic seems to be very good. I'm having a great time streaming, though I haven't done a voice chat with them yet. I'd definitely recommend them though.
Yeah, if you're listen to JUST game audio, it will always be one ear regardless of what headset you use*; Its a setback in the console and not the headset*. The only way to get it going is to buy a mono cable that will split the mono into stereo into both headsets, giving you the "feel" of dual audio in both earpieces*.Originally Posted by Neuromancer

You should always use game + chat audio for full stereo effect. Thanks again for responding!
*(please correct me here! I would love to know if you got it running as others would love to know too.)
The problem with iPhone earbuds is that there is a VERY NASTY feedback. It sounds like someone is launching a missile strike from Pentagon or something. I hear it a lot of and I know its the iPhone earbuds as others have complained about it too. Of course, it depends on what brand of iPhone headsets they're using i.e. Apple or aftermarket.so many iphone earbud versions that its hard to throw a blanket on that and say they all work.
Does anyone know if this holds true for Sony's XBA-4ip earbuds which are meant to be used with iPhone?Originally Posted by maxcer0081
found a good pic (in Chinese!) but you can see why iphone mics aren't working.

I remember hearing prior to launch that no headsets would be supported, so I was surprised yesterday when I plugged in my Turtle Beach PX21s and they worked OK. However, the Game and Chat audio is all coming through the same channel, and is all controlled by the 'Chat' volume on the little control thingamajig. The 'Game' volume does nothing except create an audible hum. Mic seems to work fine. They are basically functioning as a much more comfortable version of the free earbud that was bundled in.
Will it be possible to get it working just like on PS3? Is this something that can be patched? There seem to be a lot less Sound/Device options in the XMB than there were on the PS3.
Same page, right up above. I bought these and so did others,, they work great.Any headsets like the 360s i can use for the ps4?
