It could be better. I've just been using the default flat EQ and it's been okay for me. Explosions sound beefy, that's all I can really say with any confidence - like I said, I'm not much of an audiophile.

I cant stand stereo -.- so i just set these up and they worked as usual, much to my surprise.. I thought i would be lmited to stereo judging from al of the reports of some headsets not working and needing to wait for special cables etc (i knew about plugging it into the controller, but as i said previously, i hate stereo sound as im sort of an audiophile).

I usualy use a high def setup for sound but as of late i have been drawn to the cozy nature of headsets, so im in the market now that i know they work flawlessly.

Like you, don't want stereo or surround sound headphones. Since I have a Denon receiver and PSB speakers, I want something similar to the Xbox headset. The original poster suggested some pairs of Plantronics which are well reviewed by Ars Technica (another poster posted that). It seems those are the best wired one ear (non ear bud) available.

I've been using the headphones that came with my Samsung Galaxy S. They are much more comfortable, but the chat audio only comes out of one speaker. That's fine, but the microphone is on the other earbud's cord, which is really annoying.

That Vita pair that's been posted in here, will chat come out of both headphones? If not, is it at least the headphone that has the mic attached?

Another headset thread where everyone just recommends headphones.

Is there anyone out there using something like the Plantronics the OP listed and can verify they work? Not everyone wants to wear a pair of headphones, I just want a comfortable 3.5mm wired mono earpiece for voice chat only.

For real. I'm looking for similar. Not really for myself, but for several of my friends who continue to complain endlessly about the sound quality of the PS4 ear bud and also how badly it hurts their incredibly sensitive little girl ears.

You can currently use an adapter like this OR a USB to PC headset adapter with the legacy Astro Mixamp on PS4 (I bought mine in September 2009, and its USB port is for power only).

Attach your USB adapter to your PS4 console, or attach your 3.5mm adapter to the PS4 controller.

Run a cable from the red input to the PC MIC jack on top of the Mixamp. Remove the red daisy chain adapter from the bottom of the Mixamp and run a cable from the green input to either of the jacks the daisy chain adapter normally occupies.

You can now use your Mixamp with your PS4 as you normally would with your 360 or PS3.

Is there any way to adjust the volume of in-game audio separately from chat audio through the headset? The in-game audio seems way too loud.

click and hold the home button. then there should be a devices option that'll let you mess with the volumes.

Does this ONLY relay the chat audio? This looks like a good choice but I don't want any game audio coming into my ear, just voices.

I'm pretty sure the Plantronics ones are all 2.5mm and need an adaptor (that probably won't work based on some posts in this thread).

I ordered these two:

Is it possible for us to compile a table of working headset with prices attached to it? I'm in the market for a headset. My beats don't relay voice chat for some reason, but it was my first time playing with game audio through a headset and it was amazing. I'm just wondering what headset I should invest in.

I've been using my Astro A40s and they've worked perfectly despite not being able to take advantage of the Mixamp when used through the controller's 3.5mm jack. That's fine by me though as I don't wanna climb behind my desk to disconnect it from my PC anyway, and I only wear the headset when talking with friends. When not gaming I use my home theatre audio instead, because it's better than any headphones.

I've tested with Apple EarPods and they sound excellent, but I've noticed that the mic on them introduces a high-pitched whine that never goes away in the background that other players can hear.

Top Tip: Use the messaging function of the console to test what your mic sounds like - open a new message to a friend and make a voice recording to attach to the message - you can preview the sound clip before you attach it, and hear what the other players will hear. Obviously you can then cancel out of the message and not send anything, but it's good for seeing what mics work well and which ones cause problems for your fellow gamers.

PS Vita headsets are amazing piece of hardware. I own 4 and I could never be happier.

It's great for your personal use. You can easily find one for $10 like this one. It has a sliding mute button for mic in case you don't want to talk; most mics don't have a dedicated mute button. It's also has good speakers and microphone.

Best of all, its official too!

How''s the chat output volume on those? Most headsets I've tried all are too low.

I have that headset too. The mic works great, but the volume output through the speaker is low. Like maybe half as strong as a 360 headset. The volume is really my issue with the few headsets I've tried.

I agree with the general consensus that chat volume is too low. I'm hoping when my Vita earbuds come in that will be somewhat mitigated by having chat sound in both ears.

chat only. and it has vents that lets sound come in like normal from the outside.

my only complaint is that it's not 100% perfectly comfortable. but overall it's better than most options right now, and can be adjusted quite easily to remove any discomfort.

Did you hold the PS button and turn the device volume to max? that fixed it for me. I think it's still louder than the earbud. But I've come to the conclusion it's the ear bud making everyone sound so damn quiet. Because everyone said I come through twice as loud and clear as the rest. So if someone else had one of these on, they'd sound as good as you sound to others.

I bought this and am returning it. The sound output from the speaker is just way too low (not just other people chatting, game audio when I switch it over to all audio). Also it's bulky, feels cheap, and isn't the most comfortable thing to wear.

Something I wanted PSP to come out with that I never saw, I hope PS3 accessory manufacturers step up: I want a dongle that serves as a clip-on lapel mic (or has a cord leading out of it) with a headphone jack back out of it so that you can plug in your good headphones.

So imagine this, but smaller, and with a mic on the top or where the bump is:

There's no need to buy new headphones with a set-up like this, and it would be perfectly compatible with the headphone jack on the PS4 (or iPhone or Android, for that matter) without needing any approval or custom manufacturing. All it'd do would split the standard 3-pin configuration to a 2-pin headphone jack and a mic signal line, pretty simple engineering considering that's the same wiring they'd need to do to custom-build a headset. They could make it right now and sell it in a multipack and not need to come up with anything more than the cheap throwaway earbuds they already have crates of to toss alongside it.

Haven't tested them online yet, I have no experience using the mic on these, they are however GREAT for sound quality, so I'm hoping they work.

Anyone have time to help me test them on our PS4s?

Anybody have any recommendations for an over-the-ear headset with an actual mic (not the inline cable mic) in a price range below 40?

I'd rather get it via Amazon since I'm a prime member if at all possible.

So far this is the best option I can find:

http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-E...cm_rdp_product

But there's only 2 reviews since it's fairly new. If there are better options at a similar price range I'd love to hear them. If not I'll go with this later today.

edit: I specifically don't want in-line mic since the ps4 would be in my room and I tend to lay down belly down in my bed while playing. So in-line might be an issue if the cable is laying down somewhere.

Yeah I bought these because the default headset is absolutely horrendous. Worst headset I've ever used, and because it's the default headset, you get to hear everyone's terrible audio in-game (echoing, picking up everything, etc).

They're the best ones I could find for relatively cheap ($25), but they're not great. As soon as I can afford to buy a good headset I'll buy the Turtle Beach PX4 or something.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't expecting the best quality tbh, just good enough to be a bit better than the 360's standard headset would be fine. Another option I'm finding is this

http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-F...s4+turtlebeach

Which right now is only $30 for prime members. If I'm going by price alone as I have no idea on a comparison how good they are, these should technically be better and since they've been out longer they have more reviews.

Only issue I see is that it's two speakers vs the one of the other one you and I mentioned. I might end up going with the $25 ones since I don't play as much online as other folks, and as long as they're better than the 360's basic one I'm fine with that.

Yeah, I would recommend it over anything else in the price range IF you're going to be listening to game audio through your TV/stereo. It's annoying if you want to listen to game audio through it since it only has the one muff (footsteps in one ear sucks), but it's just fine for chat. Sound and mic quality are good, and it's comfortable to wear. Definitely get it if you aren't looking to spend a lot of money.
