Jesus, Japan.
Westerners are better at being cool and the Japanese are better at being cute. At least that's what I think.Originally Posted by Josephl64
Initial D...but yeah I get your point. I don't know if part of it is just what we're used to hearing though. I never watched Dragonball, but I would always just see random bits of it...and then the JP version has a higher pitched Goku. They seem to be fine with it...so who knows?
Not official subs, but here's an introductory clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lyl4UwXxTWchaha I have not watched an episode of the anime yet..maybe I should give it a look. Wonder if this will make it over to the west
It's the best "anime that shouldn't be good" ever. I started out writing it off on premise alone and then it became on of my favorite things ever. I'm not seeing it drop dead amazing but, it's kind like the definition of a sleeper hit. How's the anime? I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.
It's The Puppeteer of Anime.
There are some exceptions like GTO, but I guess that's true for the most part.Originally Posted by MedievalManIII

Also if we can add other schools as faves, Kay is ties with Mako for me
Should watch how they defeat the Maus with 3 (relatively) garbage tanks.
Panzer vor !
Nice little anime , very entertaining with a nice backstory.
*also best character in the series
I have a Maus in World of Tanks and heavily question the finale of Girls und Panzer. I've found in training rooms that the Hetzer is too tall for the ramp on the front of it to fit under the tracks on the Maus. I also question how a 15-ton tank can support half of the weight of a 190-ton beast like the Maus, and how a tank as tiny as the Japanese one they use could possibly stop the motor responsible for rotating the 50-ton turret on the Maus. However, I suppose this is a conversation for another time....
Fair enough. Good description. Moe is probably a bit excessive for me.Originally Posted by MedievalManIII
Despite how disgusting it feels to pronounce that word (all contexts aside, the word itself is ugly IMO), I will answer this question.
It's half moe and half military. If you like one, you'd probably be able to tolerate the other.
My apologies if the use of that word is offending to anyone. I just am generally put off by stuff that pander to the stereotype, so in the end I needed to know how much it delved into that sort of thing.
I don't see why it would: the source material didn't. If the game got localized, you would have a case of this.Hopefully it makes it stateside.
Edit: Whoops, disregard the above.
Despite the all girls cast, I believe the show doesn't have any fan service in it. At least, there aren't panty shots in this since the director himself assured even strictly told the animator to not do any that kind of thing. The tank battles are well directed, and fun to watch. Even someone I know that hate pandering stuff actually like GuP because how well the battles were directed.Fair enough. Good description. Moe is probably a bit excessive for me.

Intriguing. May look into it when I don't have as much on plate, then.Despite the all girls cast, I believe the show doesn't have any fan service in it. true, he didn't let the people who like fanservice down though since in the specials there is some of that...it was pretty smart how that was handledDespite the all girls cast, I believe the show doesn't have any fan service in it. Oh, my mistake! I had no idea that that existed!
Yep. It was a well done show. Unlike garbage like Upotte and Strike Witches.Despite the all girls cast, I believe the show doesn't have any fan service in it. Interesting.
I liked garupan quite a lot, and it'll be nice to have visited Ooarai in real-life, anime and a game xD
Lots of tank action, and a gazillion characters.
(This pic doesn't even show half of them)
well, except for the hot springs/open bathhouses bits, but you gotta have hot springs yo else how else you gonna know it's an animeDespite the all girls cast, I believe the show doesn't have any fan service in it. All saved for the OVAs.Despite the all girls cast, I believe the show doesn't have any fan service in it. Well, there's World of Tanks: Blitz in production for mobile phones. It would be kind of nice to have a game like that on the go.
I'll be keeping an eye on if the Maus is a playable vehicle. It's my favorite tank ever built; it's just a shame that the show displayed the crew of the thing (and to a somewhat lesser shame, had them talk), because faceless steel monstrosities are always intimidating antagonists. Once you show a human character as being behind it, it gives the audience something they can connect to and theoretically reason with. I personally prefer the unfeeling sort of antagonist, but I guess the producers of the show were more interested in comedic value.
