Somehow I have a feeling you aren't joking since your posting history leans toward more console-centric taste.

Nah, I love my PS3 for exclusives, but I mainly game on PC. Steam sales are the only way to go as a student. I just don't post about it that much on GAF. Console wars is much more entertaining, even though I don't even plan to pick up a PS4 before 2015 lol

Sorry :/ Some of them are though. But the same goes for PC gamers. I like both.

We'll the good news is that since the game is Origin exclusive EA won't be held back by Valve's arcane requirements which prevent them from patching or updating their game often. So I am sure that fixing this will be just one of many great updates EA makes to this amazing game.

Sick burn.

I still don't understand why EA made a deal with Ubi and not with Valve, seems so weird, Uplay doesn't even have a patching method within the client.

Whoa...almost looks like the game is in fast forward.

It actually is in fast forward (30>60fps = 2x faster). This was discussed on page 4 of this thread.

Ubisoft didn't mandate a 30% cut on DLC (or whatever it is that Valve wanted) for products on Steam, and Ubisoft wanted their games featured on Origin, maybe Valve didn't.

From the talk about slowdown with framedrops it seems hardlocked. I really have no idea why a western developer working with a modern engine which already supports variable framerates (FB3) would do that.

It's not, actually. The only thing that seems frame bound in Dark Souls are some calculations related to jumping physic, Which is why jump distance decreases slightly with higher FPS.

Still not really making any sense because who in their right mind would buy EA games on Uplay, sure there are some people who don't know any better but i would imagine Steam being worth that 30% cut just for the sheer number of people who make up that userbare people (from what i could gather) that would be interested in those games.

They just want to be able to communicate directly with their customers. On Facebook and Twitter. That's probably why they got rid of their NFS forums.

The PS4 version is excellent but capped just like all other versions. Very good and don't regret the purchase though.

Having played the game all weekend on PS4, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. IF you like cars and Racing games, buy it. Game is fantastic and tons of fun to be had.

Someone obviously never played the PC versions of any of the Dead Space games. All 3 were capped at 30 fps if you wanted vsync, all 3 required you to jump through hoops if you wanted to re-bind certain keys. The first one had unbearable mouse lag. Great games, but they got garbage PC ports.

I swear it went 60 at times with V-sync in the first game, I think it's just the game operates like Dark Souls and only works at FPSes that can be exactly duplicated into 60, and so any time DS1 dips under it jumps with 30 to be safe.

You can force vsync on PC. You can limit the framerate on PC. A game which doesn't control any of these is a better game than the one which locks framerate or doesn't allow you to turn off vsync. Some developers and publishers just don't care.

From all the possible genres... to make NFS, a speedy arcade racer locked at 30fps... sigh. It's just a rushed port in the pc version.

I feared that before the nextgen started, companies are busy trying to do both old gen and next gen console games at the same time, and the pc version will suffer for that.

Yeah, I'm sure that the Xbox One was used as the baseline for all three versions. That probably was their target platform and they just capped the framerate for the PS4 and PC versions so it would be equal across the boards. Though looking at that Total Biscuit video, the vehicle physics and game clock/ timing seem to be bound to the framerate itself, which is really odd.

haha. that video was great. terrible decision to lock @30fps. The menu and unskippable stuff is so over the top and painful. Stopping a racing game to show you a movie is terrible. A UI overlay telling you what to do would suffice.

So they actually tried to give a reason for locking it at 30FPS? I can't believe how horrible they made this game. People actually like this game? So this is how they are going to make consoles look good? By gimping the game on PC?

I actually bought this game a few days ago on PC (pre-order) thinking it was Ubisofts The Crew. Once I looked into it, I was still ok with the purchase until seeing the pretty weak standards the PC version is held to. First NFS offender for me was 2012's Most Wanted, which paled in comparison to the 2007 Most Wanted. Hopefully though Rivals is more feature complete vs 2012 Most Wanted (I'll be getting into the game this weekend when I have time).

lol i know you are being sarcastic and all but not all PC gamers are like those PC Master Race eDick swingsters. Personally i see fanboyism as ignorant as can be because at the end of the day they lose out on some great games. That is the great thing about being a passionate gamer that is unbiased towards all gaming platforms..we are the privileged that can enjoy PC gaming, Console gaming, Mobile gaming and so on so forth. I personally love PC gaming but i cannot even fathom going through this generation without at least a PS4 sitting next to my custom built PC ...

I am just freaking HAPPY current gen is done and over with...it was too long to endure.

Nope, sometimes you simply can't. If it's hardcoded, chances are that the cap will never be removed. I'm still waiting for a patch for Split/Second, for example...
