Microsoft honestly IS more likeable and does more good, and I stand by other corporations being better picks for "worst company in America", but if we're going to look only at video games let's at least pick the choice likely to fuck things up beyond themselves, EA's kind of in their own little bubble right now and what they're doing is only a problem if you get EA games, it's much harder to avoid a platform holder's policies.

... And honestly, it's almost comical how stuff like this is being addressed, I guess they really could've made it a 60 FPS PC game, maybe even a variable FPS next-gen title too.

Awesome news.

What kind of hardware is needed for 60fps constant?

Can anyone make a video? Ok youtube doesn't really show it though but comparison would be nice.

The following graph was taken from the Guru3D NFS: Rivals forum (it looks like they've taken it from gamegpu.ru):

Heh, figures unlocking wouldn't mean a damn thing on my setup then. PS4 really was the way to go, if anything I suspect the PS4 could've reliably been almost 60 FPS had it been unlocked.

Actually seems like a pretty well optimized game for some reason. :lol

The fix from Guru3D posted above is working great on my end although I've tweaked it further from some other tips from that same Guru3D thread. This is what I have as my command line:

-Render.ResolutionScale 1.5 -GameTime.MaxSimFps 45 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 45.0 -MaxVariableFps 45 -MaxInactiveVariableFps 45

Basically if you have a 780 GTX or above that command line will work very well, smooth out the framerate and make it look fantastic.

While its not golden standard 60fps, running at at 45fps is a LOT better than 30fps. The Render.ResolutionScale parameter can be tweaked further up to 2.0 but I found 1.5 to give excellent IQ since I'm playing on my HDTV. The other variables above can be tweaked to 60fps if you have hardware better than a 780. If you don't care about IQ, remove the render.resolutionscale setting altogether, change everything else to 60 and see how you go.

The key thing is, the framerate should not dip below the framerate you set in the command line. If it dips below you may as well be playing at sub 20fps and it screws with the games physics engine. Thus, if you are getting dips from 60fps and the game begins to slow down, it is much better to have the game locked at 40/45/50fps than have it locked at 60 and be experiencing dips.

Basically you need to experiment with the parameters above to find what is optimal for your hardware.
