If they didn't care, they wouldn't show up at all. They aren't showing Mario Kart.
I phrased that badly. What I meant was: I think, that Nintendo thinks, that the VGX audience would love to see new footage of Mario Kart.Originally Posted by EatChildren
If Nintendo didn't care about the VGX audience they wouldn't bother with it, like they haven't bothered for the last forever. Nintendo owes no-one favours and wouldn't put up content unless they actually wanted something to show.
That said, I don't think Mario Kart would be unusual either. Mario Kart is another franchise loved by gamers from all cuts of cloth, and tends to be one of those franchises (like Smash) everyone from all camps likes to pick up and play. So yeah, Mario Kart would be another fit I think would work fine.
Okay, maybe not that last part.
Smash Bros. was what I was thinking. It's a good move for Nintendo, but I wouldn't be able to care all that much. I'm totally sold on SSB already. I need a new Zelda trailer.Haha Nintendo at the VGAs? Never thought I'd see the day.
Probably Super Smash Bros. with a (surprising?) new character.
Though yes, Nintendo could show just a new, decent length X trailer and I'd consider it a great showing from them. For now, that's the game that's got me the most hype about next-gen gaming.
Subscribed.
In the past years I personally got more out of the VGAs than E3.
Really excited.
How long were the VGA's in previous years?
One hour, two hours maybe.Originally Posted by Magic Mushroom
Three hours then.

The format is completely different though. In previous years the VGAs were a live stage events primarily aimed at television. Until last year they were never officially streamed online. To watch you had to find someone UStreaming the event, and even then SpikeTV producers kept shutting them down.
This year they've turned it into a pre-recorded (I think) studio event with developer interviews and extended gameplay sessions. As far as I'm aware it's not streaming on SpikeTV either, and is instead getting a bunch of official internet streams, with a TV recap later on.
Excellent. Thanks.Originally Posted by EatChildren

The hype is always strong- some great reveals, some terrible host and some really interesting stage presentation.
Every year we get the homies together to bask in the awkwardness of it all. I am excited!
Other guess for Gaf meltdown is Crash in Smash.
Realistically, I'm hoping they show a Zelda teaser, Bayo 2 or more X.
This I want!
bombs will be dropped zelda smash bros new 3d Mario wii u teased
It seems that VGX will be an interesting event.

- Why? With a teaser shown this early, a VGX reveal would be a logical follow-up and a major title from Sony. Naughty Dog is currently on an average of one new game every two years. The Last of Us was June 2013, so it's possible an Uncharted 4 reveal will wait until E3 2014 or beyond.

I think the 1 game every 2 years tempo is out of balance this time since ND has 2 teams, its been 2 years since UC3, UC3 director is making UC PS4, if the game is coming late 2014 it will be ~3 years since the UC3 team released a game. I think the reveal trailer will show off what the plot is about, the protagonist and small bits of gameplay(like the UC3 reveal), with a releasedate set for holiday 2014.
I seem to remember Aonuma saying in an interview at NYCC (I think?) that he considered revealing it there but held off. Would be a nice surprise.
