Really shows why it can be so hard to find variety nowadays. Hopefully this could make a return in the future as a side game.

DICE just doesn't get it when it comes to story and what's amazing is that after all these games and feedback they just aren't getting better. They keep on making the same mistakes.

DICE have been most successful when they focus on gameplay. The re-skinning of BC2 with Vietnam was inspired. No other developer goes that far. also 1942 was a monster success because that gameplay was just about perfect.

The scary thing is that they're right. Pile on the grit, convince people that they're now playing the 'proper' Battlefield despite being short of 40 players and watch the sales rocket. Sit back and wait for 24/7 1000 ticket Metro.

I actually found it endearing, because of the humor. The juxtaposition between blowing down a wall, and killing some, and having done that with a smiley face grenade was great.

Bad Company felt very Battlefield, and it knew it was ridiculous.

Focus groups wanting grittier, more serious tones in their shooters. Fuck them.

Ask Insomniac's Overstrike/Fuse team how changing their initial internal designs to the whims of the focus groups worked out for them.

I found the humor to be awesome. It's one of the reasons why I bought it. Black Ops (zombies) had just as funny humor as BC and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Wish there was more like that.

Not only that, all they want is the same damn thing over and over again. They literally squeeze all the personality and energy out of games. If they kill the humor in BC, then BC is literally pointless because the mainline series already does that.

NO! DICE that was literally your best game all around, everything was awesome about it. Multiplayer and singleplayer, memorable characters and soundtrack that I still listen to most days.

Such a shame they won't be able to recreate something like it :(
Up there in my few all time favorite games, played and got max rank on Xbox 360 and PS3 for multiplayer, tremendous fun.

Not surprising that DICE just doesn't get it.

The Bad Company 2 mutliplayer is the best multiplayer at least out of the last three games in the series (BC2, BF3, BF4). The guns felt the best and there was actual destructibility.

I agree. Some of the rush maps in that, especially Isla, were really damn good. When a map is specifically made for a certain mode, it really can shine on how good it is.

That's just nonsense, plain and simple. The reason why a lot of veteran Battlefield players didn't like Bad Company because the multiplayer was consolized garbage (or rather, it was Call of Duty'd). The fact that the first game wasn't released on the PC didn't help any either. The single player components of the Bad Company games were the BEST part of them. It was full of personality-- unlike the multiplayer, which was completely void of anything of the sort.

Actually, isn't that the entire selling point of the games? Keep the multiplayer serious, I don't care. I don't particularly like how CODified it is, but if that's what makes it sell- fine. But I doubt anyone that enjoyed that game is demanding that they change the tone of it. Battlefield 3's singleplayer? Completely forgettable, uninspired rubbish. I think there was a war in not-Iran and earthquakes and then Russians and terrorists. Completely void of any personality, and it was universally hated. I just completed Battlefield 4's campaign two days ago, and while it was definitely a better experience than Battlefield 3, it was still lacking in both the story and gameplay.

I sincerely hope they're not taking what EA's focus groups say to heart. After all, if it weren't for them, I may've purchased Fuse.

Fucking stupid. That's really all there is to say about it.

The humor in Bad Company is the one thing that actually made me give a shit about Battlefield. I haven't played one in the series since they took it out. I got Battlefield 4 because of the Buy 2, get 1 free deal at Target, and it's still sitting in its shrinkwrap. I'm going to see if I can exchange it for something else.

As I said before, the humor in BC was the one thing that I felt really set it apart from the bazillion other FPS games out at the time, and it was the main reason why I bothered to play it. Way to go, DICE. Focus testing rules!

I think Rush is a good example of why you don't trust focus testing, I remember when it was announced that BC1 wouldn't have conquest ever one including myself was disappointed but it turned out to be really really fun, it wouldn't have made it in if they have lessened to fans.

BF3 success was build off the ground work put down by BC1 and 2 just like COD4 success was build on the 3 games that came before it, I seriously doubt BF3 would have been as successful as it was with out the BC games and if dice cant see that they are fools

Have to agree. BF3 and BF4 actually feel like a downgrade when compared to BC. Not only that but BC had some amazing maps that led to some really crazy shit happening, none of this forced ''only in Battlefield'' nonsense we get today but instead multiple moments of madness per match.

Bad Company 1 solo campaign was precisely great because of its humor (well, that, and the extensive levels which were great for giving a feeling of freedom).

I don't know if I want to live in a world where "gamers" don't want to play a shooter if it's not 'serious' enough for them, and where BF3 solo's story is not seen as the turd it rightfully is.

It's more the insanity that they believe that we hated the humor, when that is completely untrue. There are always going to be critics, but I don't ever remember someone being loud enough to make sure the humor has been slashed away. Humor can definitely help make games to be fun, more interactive in a way and can also help connect with the characters more.

This is one of the stupidest things I've read coming from a game company.

Bad Company is one of the few big shooters with actual personality. Why the hell would you want to take that away to make it gritty?

NOT TO MENTION NOBODY PLAYS THOSE GAMES JUST FOR THE SINGLE PLAYER.

I loved the humor of BC. Grenades with smiley faces. Storming a battlefield in golf cart. Fighting over crates of gold instead of anything honorable.

I was so disappointed they toned it down for BC2. But BC2 did sell much better...so maybe they have a point.

I thought the first was a bit much, goofy would be the word I would use.

But BC2 was spot on, that shit made it different and the online was god tier.

You just think about that for a minute DICE. Your spin off multiplayer was better than your main franchise multiplayer.

Bad Company is a worthless piece of shit, probably the most embaressing thing EA put out last gen (and that's saying something). Bad Company 2 is a MASSIVE improvement, even if you could see they were turning the series away from its roots (boo! hiss!) and into a Call of Duty competitor. It's a shame Bad Company 3 was a step sideways instead of improving on the strong foundation laid by BC2.

And holy hell I couldn't disagree more about BC1 - it was the best campaign Dice has made yet.
