Yeah, that E3 interview was pretty poor on Geoff's part. Not because they were tough questions, more so because they were leading questions. Bayonetta 2 teased and dated I think. It's the only thing they have that fits in with the Spike audience.
Bayonetta, Zelda, Smash Bros, X, and Metroid are some primary candidates of what could appear at VGX. If I had to choose one it'd be Smash appearing there.

If he isn't coming to announce a game that people actually want (star fox, f zero, kid icarus U, new IP for hardcore gamers, Metroid, etc.) he shouldn't even bother showing up

I think it's Smash-related and they're introducing a new character called Dudey the Dudebro.
Smash is the most suitable game to show at this type of thing. They aren't showing a JRPG. It's good to know Nintendo realizes they can't stick in their crazy bubble anymore.
