GAF!

Is there a good HDMI splitter I could use so I don't have to turn the X1 ON every time I want to watch cable/satellite?

Has anyone experimented with this yet?

- Thank You -

I was thinking the same thing this morning. My wife doesn't really wanna deal with turning on another thing in the entertainment center when she just wants to watch TV.

It probably saves him a HDMI input on his A/V receiver...

I'm looking for one as well since my monitor has only one HDMI port and I'll be using both Wii U and PS4 on it. Any suggestions?

It'd be cool to find one. I remember having a giant splitter for RYW cables when I had a bunch of consoles way back when.

Thank You! Let us know how it goes.

I'm debating between powered ones and passive ones.

I believe you want to go powered. I just don't want to pick a model not tested with the X1 yet :)

I have the 5 port version of this one:

Might be overkill, but I'm happy with it.

gonna do the same. The TV-in works like a charm, but on the other end, my HTPC throws a fit over not being able to decide on a resolution. it makes me close then relaunch windows media center to find the right resolution. after that it is fine, but it is a headache my wife won't deal with.

i am splitting it off so i can have a Harmony scene to just "Watch TV" and if i want to watch TV in xbox I will have that as well.

I got this one - less than $10, it works great on my set up - the neat thing about it is, you can set priority - so, if you have an always on source (for me, that's Roku), when my PS4 or 360 turns on, it switches automatically to that one. So, if price matters, I can recommend this one.

Why not just not put the TV through the Xbox? If you end up mostly watching TV without the Xbox on, you lose any advantage of seeing notifications etc (tbh my wife would get pissed at that really fast). You can still use the oneguide for app channel

Does anyone know if these HDMI splitters/switchers require external power supplies when working with the PS3? I've read conflicting reports.

I have a Kinivo 301BN (they also make a 5 port version) it's automatic and prioritises based on the port number you plug into. ATM I have my roku on 3, ps3 on 2 and 360 on 1. If I turn on the 360 it automatically takes over for the other two, the ps3 being on (and xbox off) will take over for the roku. I've had it over a year and it works very well. It came with a remote also but I've never needed to use it.

Edit: since someone asked, it does require an ac adapter.

switcher is a device to select multiple input to 1 output
splitter is device for 1 input to multiple output

I want to be able to watch Tv without having my xbox one on all the time. After the RRod on the 360 I'm scared of having my xbox running most of the time but I still want to be able to use the TV with the xbox when I'm gaming.

Will post when I've got it and let you all know if it works or not.

I've been using this one for a while and can second the recommendation. It doesn't need an AC adapter, which is a big plus in my book. I've tested all the consoles with it and the only one that seems to have trouble is the PS4, but I suspect that's more the PS4's fault.

That looks like a unit I bought. It worked fine, but holy crap the Blue LED is bright as hell on that thing. I buried it upside down behind the units. Still tempted to create a more permanent solution.

Haven't tried it with my PS4. PS4 gets a direct line.

Any reason besides what's listed on their site? They say that Apple TV keeps their HDMI active at all times which is the same for the Roku, but keeping it on the lowest priority port would allow it to work fine (which is how my Roku is setup on it). Unless theres another problem you ran into?

I have both a roku and an Apple TV, only that with a roku, you can manually switch it to another device even when the roku is active and not asleep. With Apple TV, you can only switch the input when its asleep. Once its active, it won't let you switch to another device. So I just have a dedicated HDMI port on my TV for Apple TV. This is what happened to me, so unless I did something wrong, I recommend you do the same.

High maintenance ass bitch, that Apple TV.

Basically I want Satellite HDMI output to TV and Xbox so splitter it is "I believe". So one input (Satellite), 2 Outputs (TV and Xbox).

So my wife can watch TV with Xbox Off

And in my case, I will use the Xbox to watch satellite.

I'm hoping to get the same set up. My wife is not going to be cool with using the xbox 1 to watch TV. She already can't understand why there are 8 consoles hooked up in the "living room". Also, my 4 year old can work the TV, but the xbox 1 is a little bit too complex for her at this age, at least until I sit down and show her how to do it.

I've been using these for ages and they are perfect, we have two in our house. They switch over to the current live signal but you can switch them manually using the switch too.

If you are looking for an hdmi switchbox. This is the one I use:

http://www.amazon.com/Accell-K072C-0...hdmi+switchbox

A bit pricey but well worth it, also it is an auto-switcher with manual override if needed.

5 ports with remote.

I ordered one of these a week or so ago.

Hoping it works out well. Reviews seem fine. Seems to switch on its own. I plan on having the PS3/4 and Wii U hooked up to it. If not, no big loss.

Wait, almost everyone in this thread is misunderstanding the OP (myself included). They want an HDMI splitter, not an HDMI selector.

This little 1X2 box is probably your best bet. Splitters will be a little more expensive than a selector. You're going to need a passive powered splitter or an active splitter if you want to make sure it'll work with all cable boxes. The one in the link has an optional power input that you might need.

seems to work great for splitting my stb to xbox so I can watch tv with it off and still try out the tv features

strips hdcp too I believe

Now got this.Doesn't work.I get a picture when I either plug it straight through to the tv or via the xbox but when I plug both in I get a blank TV screen direct or 'this Tv does not support hdcp' from the xbox screen.
