Haven't gotten any notifications on mine yet...hopefully not a sign of things to come.

Many PlayStation Network users in the US today may have to reset their account password.

As posted in the official PlayStation community forum, Sony has reacted to "irregular activity" with some users' accounts. MercuryV of PlayStation Moderation and Support said, "If you are getting an error that your PSN account password is incorrect, you may need to reset it. We routinely monitor for irregular activity, and if such activity is detected, we may sometimes reset passwords of affected SEN accounts to protect consumers and their account information."

According to VG247, a similar requirement took place in EU, and "only a small number of users" experienced any sort of affect from the irregular activity.

Noticed this today. My girlfriend had to change her account password. Doesn't make any sense as I'm the one paying for + on my account and use the system much more than she does. Found it weird, but she was the only one in our house who needed a password change.

Both me and my roommate had to change ours. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Changing my password wasn't more than a 5 minute inconvenience. I'd rather they be cautious then let some hacker get a hold of my personal information. I am surprised that my PS3 asked for my new credentials and my PS4 was business as usual though. Maybe the servers are more automatically configured for the latter.

Did she keep the CC detail in the account? Valuable accounts for hackers allow to buy/sell FIFA coin.

I didn't get any email but my housemate does. It look like because his account has the CC detail and I don't

I think we've had at least 3 threads on this topic today. Hopefully it's not too serious a problem.

if they monitor this stuff, why not delete the accounts that haven't been touched since 2007 to free up some names for people?

never understood why there are so many accounts on XBL and PSN with 0GS and no trophies.

Translation indicates they may have been hacked/compromised again. Though, it does not appear to be anywhere near the level of intrusion as last time.

I had to reset mine today, it wasn't a huge deal or hassle to be honest. I do wish we knew what these so called irregular activities were though.

Didn't something like this happen before? I think they detected some mass log-ins and resetted those passwords.

I wish more online services would provide 2FA for the sake of security. They should use the Google Authenticator app, even, like GW2.

i figure my account was accessed. My email and password combo was found on that huge adobe link, which also happened to be my PSN login info as well.

Good catch on their part, they seem to have noticed weird activity and protected my account.

Didn't realize this was a thing... Just spent the last hour creating random, secure passwords for every single one of my accounts after thinking my account was hacked. Now I feel stupid and I have a notebook page filled top to bottom with all of these passwords I'll never remember.

The PSN attack was nearly 2.5 years ago. I wonder how many people have changed their password on their own volition since then?

Someone actually made this thread two days ago I think. I'm surprised it didn't catch on then.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthre...assword&page=2

Here it is, and the Sony Statement was posted then (5 days ago). That said, the OP never updated the thread, so that answers my initial question.

Ugg. At this point a password change would require me changing the password on PS4, PS3, Vita, the phone app, and the computer web browser.

I'd either have to go through the trouble of turning all those things on again and doing it all at once, or remembering a different password which I might forget by the time I need it. I'd almost rather just take my chances.

Tried to sign in to PS4, said my password's no longer valid and asked me for my birthdate. Gave it and it rejected it saying that the "info is no longer valid." Entered it again, and it's saying that the network is down for maintenance.

Ugh.

It says that it's the incorrect email address or password every time. It's doing the same with my Vita, too. Hope it doesn't mean I've been hacked.

Edit: Nope, guess my past self decided it'd be funny if my DoB was one year off.

Wonder what their policies for resetting PW are, more than 5 IP's within 1 day?
or a set distance (km) between the IP's location?
