To commemorate FF11's 11th anniversary, DQ10's 1st anniversary, and FF14's successful launch, SE is going to be doing cross-promotional events in all three games.


Final Fantasy 11
Round 1: December 11, 2013
Rounds 2 and 3 will be in some time in 2014.



Sage Hourou from DQ10 has shown up in Vana'diel. It's not clear exactly what the requirements are, but if you do certain things, you can become a slime in Monstrosity and also get some slime equipment.



Spriggans from FF14 have also mysteriously shown up in Vana'diel, and apparently you'll also be able to use one in Monstrosity and also get some spriggan equipment as well.


Dragon Quest 10
FF11 part will run from mid January 2014 to mid February 2014.
FF14 part will run from mid February 2014 to mid March 2014.



Shantotto has shown up in Azlan village and needs help finding materials for her black magic. If you help her out, you can get a chocobo cap.



Kupuru Kopo has also wandered into Astoltia from Eorzea looking for a particular flower. Helping this fellow out will apparently get you a cactaur hat.


Final Fantasy 14
Scheduled to run from mid January 2014 to mid February 2014.



Shantotto has also appeared in Eorzea, as a giant for some reason. She'll be a FATE boss, and the reward is a totally adorable Shantotto minion.




Golems from DQ10 have also appeared in Eorzea. This one looks like a pretty crazy FATE with a golem, a gold golem, and a stone golem. The reward is a golem minion!

As cool as this is I really wish they added a slime minion to FFXIV and that outfit from FF11 :(

Damn, they nailed the fuck out of that DQX art design. They look too cute with the Miqote pose. Pretty cool stuff. Even getting FFXI involved.

Shantotto is easily one of my favorite characters in the series. That DQ stuff looks super ridiculous and tacky in FFXI.

I'll never understand how the XI team chose Shantotto as their mascot for Dissidia which really blew her up in terms of popularity. There are so many cooler characters in XI. That being said, I'll still get her minion.

Damn I want DQX so much, I might resub just for this (FFXI).

The US and Japanese servers for FF11 and FF14 are the same, so of course we're getting it.

The servers are global for both FF11 and FF14.

Looking cool, I like the way most of the crossovers seem to fit in one way or another (with the possible exception of Hourou). Definitely looking forward to claiming that Golem, I wonder if the English materials for the events will mention Dragon Quest X explicitly?

A little off-topic perhaps, did DQX use the same engine as FFXI? Hourou's FF11 model looks to be identical to his DQX counterpart.

Probably too much work making her model play nice with the engine. Much easier to just shove the FFXIII one into FFXIV.

Nah, Shantotto is pretty much the clear cut stand out from FFXI. Even had her own mini-expansion. Only Prishe (who was in Dissidia) comes close.

So if you're waiting for the PS4 version of FFXIV then you're going to miss the Shantotto Fate?

So much better than the competition if you ask me. FFXI is underrated as a PS2 game, visually. It holds up quite well with the "HD" treatment (i.e. playing it on PC).

FATEs are designed to be stupid, otherwise they would be very annoying (more so given how flooded this one is going to be be). I like your optimism though.

It makes me sad that FFXIV 1.0 is apparently what happens when you spend several years trying to make a modern version of the type of game that FFXI was. I feel like an old man saying this, but every single MMO that's popped up recently has just felt so shallow and linear in comparison to the deeper, less immediately accessible MMOs of the past. Ironically, I'm waiting on Blizzard to come out of nowhere with an Ultima-type MMO to plop down among all of the WoW-a-likes.

I hate to admit it, but I'd probably resurrect my poor little Taru for the ability to turn into a slime.

1.0 was what you get when you release a modern FFXI that's still wasn't done. Well, the failure of Crystal Tools as an engine didn't help either.

A modern FFXI could still work wonderfully.

Because Shantotto is the Final Fantasy multiverse's Dr Doom, FFXI's Vana'diel is her Latveria and the likes of Lightning aren't welcome.
