Was hoping they would be a little bit quicker with the land and sea operations, still a very good F2P game though, probably among the best out there at the moment.
until then, meh... I like tanks!
Edit: I'm way late.
wait you got it to work with your US account?Originally Posted by TheSinkingKnight

it says it was only restricted to the user who downloaded it for me...with a little lock indicator too.

I made a UK account....doesn't work for my US one..but it started fine for my UK one... I'll try it later after the football games.
Did you make the UK account primary on your PS4? My US account is playing it fine.wait you got it to work with your US account?

I doubt the advantage is that big.
There are separate worlds. Just select another game type than Arcade where there are more limited controller options. If they're allowing gamepad/flightstick users play MP with those with mouse, I won't even bother to download this game. Everyone tells me mouse has huge advantage with this game, they need to separate worlds as such.
I thought the ground warfare was debuting on the same day as the PS4 release. Unless they pushed it back?Originally Posted by LiquidMetal14

But either way, PS4 updates at the same time as PC. Otherwise it couldn't be a Crossplatform game with PC and PS4 people on the same servers.
Getting that flight down with a controller was giving me fits for a while. It's all coming together now and it's turning into a lot of fun.
Sony of America, make it happen!
I play on PC with a joystick and I feel like the mouse users get an aiming advantage but it's offset by the maneuver advantages you get with a gamepad or joystick. Eventually, you get used to the aiming and become good with that as well, but I don't feel like gamepad users will necessarily be screwed.Originally Posted by Teknopathetic

Full Real Battles don't have mouse aim and force a joystick or gamepad so there's always that too but it's a sim mode.
Nobody in this thread should be shocked that the North American release is later because that has been widely reported to be the case since before the PS4's initial launch. It's likely coming in early December i.e. In the next couple weeks, since it helps flesh out a rather spartan month, release-wise.
War Thunder will be available on the European PlayStation Store when the PS4 launches in that region on Nov. 29. It’ll come to the U.S. PlayStation Store a few weeks later (before the end of the year, promised Yudintsev).Originally Posted by RealityPales

Darn! Really wanted to jump in and play with everyone across the pond. I'm much too lazy to make a EU account. :DWar Thunder will be available on the European PlayStation Store when the PS4 launches in that region on Nov. 29. I'm curious about this as well. I got an email saying they are going to be having an infantry beta, but I've never seen anything else official.Originally Posted by Lord of Castamere

I think the only thing it will have in common with BF1942 is the fact you can use air/infantry and they are planning on adding sea. Besides that it plays a bit different and I wonder if there will be an infantry "sim" mode.
I think you can since it gives you the option of what to set the mouse to when accepting your joystick. I have mine set as my view controller though for when I don't have head-tracking on.What about using a joystick AND mouse at the same time? Would that even work, is it possible LOL :)
There's no infantry, just tanks, anti-air, etc. So vehicles of the sea, air, and land with more authenticity and realism than BF obviously. Planes behave like they should and fly like they should based on the weather, damage, etc. It's a very in-depth system. Tanks will have an arcade mode that still blows away World of Tanks in terms of realistic gameplay but kind of streamlines it while Historic Battles will be more advanced modelling, one tank per match, and a lot larger maps based on actual tank battles. The best part is no magically disappearing tanks that you can see with your naked eye. You might not see their tag, but you can still try to shoot it from a kilometer away if you're in a Tiger.
So when all 3 are in eventually, it will be like that rock, paper, scissors gameplay. Planes can't see enemy tanks nametags unless a friendly light tank scouts them, fighters will be keeping the bombers from hitting the tanks or the obj, anti-air will keep the planes at bay, ships will be shelling the obj. or each other while using planes as spotters, etc. etc.
The phase we want to here is "No advantage at all". Why would anyone want to play a game where they had any structural disadvantage at all? One of the draws of console gameplay is that everybody is on a level playing field.Originally Posted by Teknopathetic

FYI, here is that that GiantBomb Quick Look people were talking about.
That would imply it's not handled at a system level or at the very least can be shut off/stopped by the developer/publisher
Hmm
I want to check this out when it's released, but I have a feeling I'll be horrible at it.
Nah, the arcade mode is like a simplified version just still authentic to the planes while Full Real is the sim mode and Historic Battles is somewhere in between which is what I usually play since not many play Full Real on PC even.Originally Posted by GillianSeed79
This game sounds cool, but this is like a pure flight sim right? I watched some youtube videos of this and one guy was playing with dual flight sticks and another video made it look there were actual combat pilots playing.

My friends that suck at flight sims love it for arcade so take that as you will.
Am I the only one who thinks this answer is a massive contradiction back to back? lol...Can I get some in-game advantages by paying real money?
No, you can’t! There is no way to get any advantage in battles by spending real money. You can buy Golden Eagles – special in-game currency which you can use to train your crews faster and unlock planes and upgrades for them earlier. But you’ll be fighting against more experienced and better equipped users, who didn’t spend anything. Also, with Golden Eagles you can buy “premium” planes, which come prepackaged with all upgrades. But they aren’t any better than regular planes – these are just rare models, like Australian aircraft in the UK research-tree.
I thought the same thing as well.Am I the only one who thinks this answer is a massive contradiction back to back? lol...
It is in a way but at least the premium planes are nothing special and mostly just variants of regular planes that earn more and make more. It isn't necessarily pay to win, but you do get some advantages in ranking up and seeing some cool aircraft at times, but that doesn't mean much in War Thunder where player skill trumps all. No magical plane that your plane can't touch so to speak.
It's a time-saver and definitely gives you advantages, but not pay-to-win which is how they should have addressed the question. There's no way to say it doesn't give you advantages...lol
Edit: I might be answering a lot at the moment considering I'm alt-tabbed while my plane climbs in War Thunder. :D
You will have an advantage if you start out with a decked out crew, because your opponents probably will not have to many points in the crew and that stuff makes a difference in fights.Originally Posted by SwiftDeath
No not really
It makes the game faster not easier
It takes away some of the grind but does not give you an advantage that other people can't get from simply grinding
I played it for a bit on PC it's decent fun and the f2p model isn't to bad at least at the beginning, I don't know how bad the repair times/costs get with rank 10+ crafts.
