Downloaded it from my UK account this morning but it won't let me play it with my main north american account. Still I got to try it it out.

Really good. I played a fair amount of the PC version so the aiming is a little difficult for me right now but this game has huge potential. Great pick up and play game for when you have nothing else to do since the matches only last about 10-20 minutes at the most.

You can basically buy skill points with golden Eagles and then invest them in the crew skills, so you can start decked out if you invest in it. As a total noob you will still loose against people that know what they are doing, but faster reload and better G-Force resistance can make huge difference. But I didn't feel like I was at a big disadvantage (never paid a dime).

The crew skills for planes actually do very little and reload time is completely irrelevant if you don't play arcade with it's bullshit reload system. I don't need to see a nametag from 10 miles out since I can still see their plane, I don't need G-forces because it's still going to happen anyway in later aircraft.

But yes, you get an advantage no doubt, just not one that ensures victory since plenty of people buy Tier 13 premium aircraft just to get their asses kicked.

Tank crew skills seem like they'll be more worthwhile though which is what I worry about. In that area, crew skills seem to be huge compared to aircraft where my stock crew can decimate people. The tank crew skills information sounds like it could be very useful but the nice thing about Gaijin is that they don't make the skills do too much. It all still relies on the player.

So, is this like a Battlefield type game where two sides are pitted against each other?

Anyone have more early impressions, which "game option" is the best to start with, I know there's an arcade mode, something in the middle, and a full sim mode.

More or less. There are two teams and each team is made up of a mix of fighters and bombers. The bomber's job is to take out ground targets while the fighters escort them. After a match you can research new weapons, fighters, and bombers to use in future battles.

Playing right now and having a blast. Takes some getting use to the ui and how things work but it works great.

As for modes I'm only seeing arcade mode on the PS4, but that's all I played on the pc as well.

I just downloaded and gave this a blast. Afterwards, every game I tried to boot showed a black screen but audio still played. Coincidence or something to do with War Thunder? Resetting the console fixed it.

I love this game on PC...love.

I called it the call of duty of flight combat sims, its approachable, and its fun as hell, but it allows skills to rise to the top even if you are not in the best plane.

NA release now please!!!

This, blacklight, warframe, planetside, DC Universe...free...my word sony, bravo.

regarding the party system question above, pc had 4 man parties and allows for private matches, dog fighting a few friends is probably the best thing ever.

I wish they let you use R1 and L1 to change speed...and let you use the right stick to free roam. or it can R2 L2...I just want to rotate the plane with the right stick, like in other air plane games.

I like it so far though... you obviously need to work as a team and use strategy.....I went to shoot the ground troops by myself like an idiot..and I had bullets coming at me from all directions. Cut me up damn good.

Audio will still work with handshake issues.

Because it's been clearly communicated since before the PS4's launch that the NA release would come after Europe; a december release seems likely.

you can... you just have to make sure that your EU account is activated as the primary account on your PS4 or something like that..

then you just use your US profile to play it... but servers are only in EU. (so you are playing with/against other EU players and other gamers like yourself from other countries using this trick)

True but how many console games allow you to set options like FXAA or bloom level?

Yup. Make a UK account (I used fake name generator for address and such) and then activate the ps4 as your primary console on that. Then you can play it on your US account. Just go to your other and activate it there when you want to access the US store.

Been playing it for the last couple of hours, it's really very addictive, reminds me of the old sims I used to play on the Amiga, but rarely played since.

The actual game is fairly straightforward, but still trying to figure out all the menu and upgrades. Think I'll look into paying to upgrade to a better plain, I'm looking forward to putting in many more hours.

When I enter a game, it's always arcade, not sure if you can try the other game modes as you progress, as you can use them in test flights. BTW, first thing I did was invert the controls, can't be doing with the default setting, didn't feel natural.

Oh yeah, and it looks very good, very nice lighting.

Not only does this game work on a US account ( Fake UK Account Needed ), but Remote Play also works flawlessly. I'm glad Gaijin is bad at being incompetent. Some of the luster is missing though. I can't put my finger on it, during Remote Play that is.
