I'm Trying to buy the Gravity Rush DLC from the EU PS store at the moment (while its on offer) but can only find 2 out of the 3 packs the military and maid packs, with no sign at all of special forces mission pack.

Anyone know why? Was it never released in the EU?
If so its gonna really bug me that it shows up in my trophy section if i cant actually buy it.

Last I heard they were looking into it. I'm waiting for it myself too.

Did you play Tearaway yet? Did you like it? I actually wouldn't mind having the case myself. I only have 4 physical Vita games, two of which are Dragon's Crown and one is Persona 4 Golden. Tearaway would fit in there nicely.

I guess it's just the challenge that is off putting, and more so when luck is against you. So in a sense, it would have been welcome if the game had different options to costumize the way you play the game depending on your mood, like you given the choice to have checkpoints or not, or you adjust the amount of enemies on screen or their aggressiveness. It's pretty odd that the game doesn't have any difficulty modes.

I'd have loved being able to properly finish the game and then go back to the game and play it again just for the randomness, but then trying to survive as long as possible with the way it's meant to be played.

Thanks for the link, I've watched some of it already and is it me, or does it seem like the guy is playing the levels for a long time? Usually I take between seconds and 4 minutes on every level *will watch more of it later*

I'm definitely planning on playing the game more. Actually, today was pretty embarrassaring, as I was playing the game for so many hours. Every journey might last a couple of minutes, but you can't help but continuing all the time. And that's what I don't like, wasting hours on a game, doing the same sections over and over just because you can't save your progress. It felt unhealthy :( And that's without even trying daily challenges!

I'm having trouble getting a shotgun since shops are random and you don't always have enough money :( There have been so many times where I had like 30k wanting to spend on a shotgun before the jungle levels end. I also didn't realize that the shortcut for the temple levels won't appear if you don't have the shortcut for the ice level. Very frustrating!

But I'm trying to stick with playing the game from the beginning instead of using a shortcut. I made it to the temple once. It felt good for a couple of seconds, but I didn't get to explore it, some mummy killed me straight away.

Thanks about the huge fish, I thought you were meant to kill it. I wasn't sure where the exit was, at first I thought it was in the water!

I don't even know where to start.
(1) I'd say that replaying "the same levels" over and over isn't exactly the case, due to the randomness. It's not like you're practicing for a SMB speed run and every goomba is in the same place... it makes you think, adapt, and adjust. As for wasting time, it depends on why you're playing. If you find the core gameplay fun/challenging, it's not a waste at all, you should be enjoying yourself as you play. If you're not, I don't know why you'd keep playing. :P

(2) Shotguns.
(a) If you get a "The dead are restless" stage, look for the gravestone marked "ASH" and bomb it. Shotgun GET!
(b) If you don't mind adding to the stress level and you don't have the money... MURDER THE SHOPKEEPER. If he has one of the weapons (shotgun, machete, boomerang, ice gun) just pick it up and use it on him. Keep doing so until dead (except for ice gun; once frozen, drop it and whip the block to shatter him). SHOTGUN GET.
(c) Save your money and collect everything you can. This way you can purchase if necessary.
(3) Congrats on making it to the Temple. I've only made it to 4-4 twice and I've never beat the game. The temple is brutal. And that doesn't even take into account getting to world 5 (secret).
(4) As an aside, the shortcuts are really only useful for picking up the 2 secret characters in the Jungle (more in the PC version). That or for *trying* to practice against something that plagues you... however, you'll be so ill equipped if you try something like the Temple via the shortcut that there's no reason to bother. Dealing with mummies and Anubis and the block traps and everything with 4 bombs and 4 ropes? Not a picnic.

The military DLC was pretty fun, but are the other two worth it at this price?

It can be. Go watch the video I posted up there in response to VanWinkle. It's not an easy game. The only reason I'd say it's "less frustrating" is that you can build up your stats over time if you do well so you might like it more because you feel like you're progressing.

If you liked one, you will probably like the other 2. They're all pretty similar. Two "missions", two "challenges", 1 costume, and a trophy set of about 7. I'd say go for it, but by now, you miss the whole point of having them integrated into your playthrough from the start. :(

Thanks man, glad it won't affect the battery life. Unfortunately no SIM card was supplied with the Vita, so I'll just have to become accustomed to the No SIM text.

Wait what now I'm totally confused.

So I bought the maid mission pack and the military mission pack

But in the trophy information it says their is the maid pack, spy pack and special forces pack.

What did I actually buy?

( I assume the military pack is the special forces pack but by some error has been named differently on the store?)

Yeah, the Spy pack is not on the store at all but it's supposed to be on sale too. They must have somehow accidentally removed it.

just got my new vita via UPS 5 minutes ago. setting it up now. nice piece of hardware! ive only toyed with a demo unit for 30 seconds until now. the screen is really sexy.

got the amazon bundle,so ill check those games out. i felt ashamed putting the 4g card in the slot.

i have Hotline Miami on PS3 already, and a bunch of PSP/PSX games already. looking forward to getting Hot Shots Golf and a few other games, JSR probably and definitely Spelunky.

cool to ear Rogue Legacy is coming. been interested in that.

They end on 11 December, so you have enough time for them.

Not sure wether to get them myself.

The military DLC was pretty fun, but are the other two worth it at this price?

No, I don't think so. I really, really enjoy it. Dying doesn't frustrate me, and I just really prefer the structure of the game design in Rogue Legacy. The exploration nature of the random castles, and just setting a goal for money, and trying to reach it, while also finding treasure chests for runes and stuff.

Both Rogue Legacy and Mutant Mudds is amazing.

Rogue Legacy is not a metroidvania though, CorrosiveFrost :p it's a rogue like platformer with rpg-elements, with randomly generated levels and fricking awesome gameplay.

Mutand mudds is a 16-bitish classic platformer with a neat use of background/forground play. Was pretty cool on 3DS for that reason, but it should look great on Vita.

I got the shits with this backlog issue (a mess of my own making) so I've promised myself that I'm going to go a game at a time for a while and put some solid time into completing some of these games.

1st up: Killzone. I've only toyed with the campaign until now and I've literally breezed through it (a little too easy if I'm honest although, I so feel pretty badass) until one set piece then... BAM! Massive difficulty spike.

Doesn't force you to do anything, but it does make it kind of a "self competition". Try to complete a set number of games from your backlog a month. I've made some great headway in recent months but I have a long way to go.

My impressions of the 2000 model are that it's nearly perfect. It actually makes the first Vita, which I thought had a very elegant design, feel like a clunker. The new one's really slim, and it still manages to not feel flimsy or small. Contours are perfect, and it just feels so much more natural in my hand. It's actually slim enough to feel more tablet-y, if that makes any sense.

The face buttons feel slightly clickier, more responsive, they even made the old dpad feel better than it already was. And dear lord it's nice to have a start/select that's easy to mash now. The angle on the triggers feels better to me for some reason, too. Battery life is supposed to be better, but it feels like it's going about the same rate on my first charge.

So the issue that keeps it from being all-the-way perfect is, of course, the LCD. It's still sharp as can be, and bright. But I notice the loss of vibrance every time I try a new game. In fact, the top brightness level makes me wish it could go a little more, it definitely feels a little "off" if you're used to the OLED. But......the new design actually holds more importance to me right now than the loss of colors that burn your eyes out. I played enough to just get into the game and felt the experience was just better all around. Plus, for people like me who left grease on the screen whenever you touched it, the new screen is like all my other touch devices, swiping leaves no trace. I played through Tearaway on my old one and the screen needed to be wiped off after nearly every big event, so this is a cool improvement. I bought both PSP models long ago, and this revision kind of kicks the pants off that one. Where that came off as a cheap revision, this is definitive to me.

I recently picked up Spelunky which I disliked at first but eventually came to love it. Its great for quick runs even though 98% of them end up being pointless, back at 1-1 (so far!). Today I snagged Rainbow Moon and I'm digging it. It also looks fantastic. Love my Vita so much, its just bursting with awesome games lately and its only going to get better.

Great impressions. I'm going to trade/sell in my white Vita when these guys arrive. I just hope they have an assortment of colors (Knowing Sony it'll be all Black). Btw, does the plastic front panel frame feel cheap ala the PSP revisions? The current Vita does have a pretty good front panel that doesn't feel cheap.

Would some of you mind posting what your favorite PS1 classics are and what your favorite Vita PSN games are (indie games I guess you would classify them as).

I also am interested in what PSP games you would consider are the best to pick up. I like everything but sports games.

I constantly see these games on the PS store while browsing with my Vita. I can't trust the user reviews because I've honestly never seen a game rated below 3.5-4 stars (seriously, what is up with that?). I never owned a PS1 or a PSP and don't follow the Vita indie scene much.

So I'm planning on playing through the entire FF series on my Vita (or at least what I can, up to X). Gonna be my first time playing through the games, so that'll be fun!

Only concern I have is with FFV and FFVI. I've heard some pretty scary things about the load times on these, are they really as bad as people make them out to be? I don't really mind load times but if they're long and frequent they will almost certainly get on my nerves.

As an aside, how is the PS3 remote play for PS1 games on Vita over a private network, as far as lag and image quality goes? Only way I'm gonna play FFV on mine... and Crash and Spyro :(

Also, I should have mentioned this before. One of my favorite RPG's is Grandia 2 on the Dreamcast. I just LOVED the combat in that game. Do you all know of any other RPG that had combat just like Grandia 2's??? Would love to be able to pick up something like that on PSN for my Vita.

Only thing close is the Tales of games, and there aren't any good ones for the PSP that I know of. Not in the US, anyway.

Ys is great, but it's not a traditional RPG, it's a real time action RPG.

And my favorite PS1 RPG of all time is on the PSN, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.

Loves me some Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together.

I constantly see these games on the PS store while browsing with my Vita. I can't trust the user reviews because I've honestly never seen a game rated below 3.5-4 stars (seriously, what is up with that?). I never owned a PS1 or a PSP and don't follow the Vita indie scene much.

My personal favorites:

Indies =
Hotline Miami, Guacamelee, The Lone Survivor (<---- bliss for Silent Hill fans), Spelunky

PS1 =
Castlevania SOTN, Vagrant Story, FF7, Chrono Cross, Xenogears

PSP =
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Gods Eater Burst, All the Ys games, MGS Peace Walker, Dissidia 012 Duodecim, Tactics Ogre, Valkyria Chronicles 2 (must transfer this from a PS3 only), The 3rd Birthday, Persona 3 Portable, Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky

Honorable mentions to both Persona and Persona 2 Innocent Sin, the latter I finished twice on the PS1 but I haven't gotten to the remake yet.

I basically listed all of the PSP games I have on my Vita. Like you I skipped the PSP era so I've been having my mind blown left and right with how good these games are. Watch some gameplay videos and see if any of these appeal to you. They're arguably some of the best PSP games on the Vita store.

Finally picked up a Walking Dead bundle for my brother and threw it under the Christmas tree. Quick question for my fellow Vita owners. I have an old 16GB memory card I used before I upgraded to the 32. I'm going to give it to my brother. Should I wipe it now or is he able to wipe it and make it his own as soon as he sticks it into his Vita?

Just finished Killzone Mercenary - some impressions:

- I don't need to talk about how great the game looks, everyone's across that I'm sure. Contrary to what I've read elsewhere, I was very happy with the performance of the game. I didn't notice any chugging (although I'm definitely not a Framerate Nazi).

- I thought the gunplay was excellent. That was the real draw for me. The sound design helped this a lot too: guns sounded great and the game did an excellent job of making you feel like a badass: when I found out you can run at an enemy, slide at him and knife him in the plums I was sold!

- The 'feel like a badass' thing probably brings on one of my only negatives: it's a fairly easy game. I'm not a fps guy and I breezed through the campaign once I got the bit between my teeth. Plenty of reasons to replay it though... And multiplayer, obviously.

- Some people have said the campaign is too short. Well I think it fits with the vita's pick up and play ethos perfectly. I don't know how many hours it took me but it felt satisfying to me.

- They definitely could've tweeked the save game system. Accessing the arms dealer triggers a checkpoint but if you close the game completely (say you want to play something else), you're restarted from the beginning of the level. That shit me to tears on more than one occasion.

Anyway. Loved it. Like I said, I don't play fps' and I only picked this up because it's a keystone title for a platform I love. Couldn't recommend it more.

Glad you enjoyed it Omerta, not to forget a few big updates coming in next year so hold onto it. And also, if you are going to replay the campaign, give it a try with headphones and no map (or much UI at all). Plays a lot differently.

Very nice collection, Shinriji! Barely have any nice boxes here due to going digital. And between all the moving due to work being done...I may have even lost some of the few that I have...pretty awful I know.
