Can't wait for The Room 2 next week!
I can correct them, or you can provide a revised set of impression and I can put them in. :)My OT reactions:
'Woo hoo quoted for my lords of waterdeep impressions'
'Bugger, my impressions are full of spelling mistakes'
:(
:DWe really need to get to a new page in this thread. My (old) Mini hates when I check to see if there are new posts and takes forever to load those images!
It's always in the back of my mind to try and keep the OP at least somewhat bandwidth friendly. But yeah it can get a little clogged.

Did you guys see the trailer for this game? It's insane

More details
I think I'm gonna get it later todayYou are a dead, failed video game character wandering through the recesses of the Random Access Memory, trying to find peace in the final moments of your existence before being deleted forever...
It's a bit like Sword & Sworcery, but with more action and weirdness.
What happens to dead video game characters?
In the garbage dump of the Random Access Memory, you travel from town to town, meeting people who offer you their lightning and their prayer. Lightning clears the way for you to move forward and prayer builds shelters in a distant town where you must frequently hide to avoid being deleted into nothingness by the garbage collector. Along the way, you are thrust into many battle challenges, the outcome of which effects your shelters. There is ultimately, no way to escape the garbage collector, but running from it buys you time to think, wander, contemplate, and hopefully be at peace with the inevitability of your deletion.
Each game randomly assigns you 1 of the 6 characters and 6 of the 11 areas. There is no set order to the stages of the game.
Interpretations
This game is weird. You've probably figured that out by now. Everything in it however, has a deeper meaning behind it. All of the strange places you go to, people you talk to, and scenarios you go through are part of a greater idea that I hope you spend a second or two trying to figure out and interpret...or not. You can also just play the damn thing.
Also, I can't wait to hear what you have to say. Please share your thoughts and interpretations on the facebook and twitter pages.
Development
Continue? was inspired by existential road trips into nowhere, Peruvian jungle drugs, and a brush with death while lost in the mountains of New Mexico. It is a quest for wonder, contemplation, and peace.

Which is good, because I suddenly had a craving for smartphone anime golf last week, but bad cause I already went ahead and started on the Japanese version. Also the global publisher seems hilariously incompetent and I fear for the long-term support of the game.

stealth edit: haven't you ever woken up one day and gone, "man, I really want to play some golf on my iphone, except I want it to be anime as h*ck"??? because i have. Now you too can play as a scantily clad underage succubus wearing an eyepatch, and throw your phone against the wall when you fuck up an otherwise brainless tee shot in some generic magical rainforest because of a bullshit 3m/s crosswind.Originally Posted by Tunesmith

Awesome. Thanks for the detailed write up. Very helpful! They are both great but somehow different games.
They share rules, UI, and the exceptional polish and sleekness (they are imho one of the best examples of how awesome a game could be if built from the ground up on the medium)
Gameplay wise, due to the different map dimension and some key rules, they provide a different experience.
Battle of the Bulge is a more tight experience, feel like playing chess sometimes.
The limited map and very clear target makes you really concentrate on the same spots every game (which turns out very different each time due to the fundamental randomness they have both in turn duration and fights).
Drive on Moscow has a much bigger maps and much more units: this makes many different strategies possibile, and you can even change strategy mid game several times if the odds do not favor you and you are a good gamer (this is something you can't afford in BotB generally).
The campaign is, while retaining the speed of BotB, longer and there are different scenarios already included (something that was added to BotB only post release).
Said that, they are both the PERFECT async games, and this is where both games shine.
You can take your turn in a matter of seconds, and the strategical situation can be seen AT A GLANCE in 1 second...letting you easily have many concurrent games going on.
Do know that, for now, only BotB is universal...Drive on Moscow is iPad only (Universal update is coming).
These games + iPhone....you can say goodbye to any productivity.
For what is worth...I have both and still play both.
Considering you do not have any and one is on sale...I would get Bulge.
If you like Bulge or want a more open ended game...Drive on Moscow will be a no brainer after that.
They have different strengths, Drive on Moscow resembling more a 'full fledged campaign' game (this is not a con for Bulge imho...I love how they concentrated on single war events instead of 'Panzer Generals' ultra long campaign spanning the whole war).
Haha, totally true! It's only ever a problem for a day or two so I don't think it's a biggie, and I would hate to see the beautiful op disappear.Yeah sometimes it's a bit of a nightmare...expecially using the mobile site...when loading the page bounces up and down while the images are loaded but...but....

THIS THIS THIS!!Ugh. I like Skulls of the Shogun but why, once again, must I play the game in the Phone's default language? Seriously... is providing an option inside some menu so hard?
Please devs, don't overlook something so simple yet so important!
Replaying TWD is a chore now, unless you get rid of subtitles completely I'm forced to that awful Italian localization.
Btw, totally off topic but HOLY COW SINE MORA got updated with iCADE SUPPORT?!!!
How the hell did I miss that this last October, that changes everything! PittaGAF redeemed! :P

Man, it's been a long time since I played that...shit I think it might have been on my RAZR. lol. I remember it being ok, but of course times have changed since then....I bought an Iphone 5s a few months back. First apple device. And, I downloaded the Doom 2 RPG. Holy fuck is this thing boring. Anyone feel the same way? Seemed like a cool idea on paper and I always wanted to try it. Story and dialogue are terrible for an RPG and it's really lacking gameplay wise.
I defaulted my iDevices to english a long time ago, just for this reason, and never had regrets. I mean, what's the advantage in having "configurazioni" instead of "settings"?Ugh. I'm not 100% sure since it may have been updated, but I assume it is still garbage?
I was waiting until I heard it was fixed but for $1 I'm in, looking through the updates on itunes it's had regular patches so I'm confident it's improved and still supported.Originally Posted by toddhunter

What was wrong with the game in the first place? I always thought it looked interesting enough going by the promotional material, but never actually jumped in.Originally Posted by toddhunter

Generally what I read was it was buggy, unbalanced, not a good tutorial and too short. What was wrong with the game in the first place? I always thought it looked interesting enough going by the promotional material, but never actually jumped in.
I held off for a while but it was still on my radar as one I wanted to try.
Basically it was short, repetitive and had little to no depth or actual challenge. What was wrong with the game in the first place? I always thought it looked interesting enough going by the promotional material, but never actually jumped in.
But for $1 why not I suppose?
I've been watching the updates, and they definitely addressed some of the complaints in updates (some of the exploits were fixed / addressed, including the one where you just stuck everyone in a room and ignored your ships health since it could never die I think, more difficulty modes were added along with a tutorial of sorts i believe). For a buck I'll pick it up.Originally Posted by toddhunter

Ok if they have changed the room exploit, that goes a long way to fixing the game. Not being able to lose and not having much to do was a pretty lethal combo.I've been watching the updates, and they definitely addressed some of the complaints in updates (some of the exploits were fixed / addressed, including the one where you just stuck everyone in a room and ignored your ships health since it could never die I think, more difficulty modes were added along with a tutorial of sorts i believe). I'm taking a small break whilst Puzzle & Dragons eats up all my mobile time. That said, I'll almost certainly end up checking up on mine later now I've read your post. Curses.I gave in, and started playing Simpsons Tapped Out again. I'm so ashamed.

Aye, I'd be interested in an up to date list too. I've found a new place for my iCade so I can see it getting a lot more use. I'll probably just end up playing a whole lot of Metal Slug though. Is there a definitive list of icade supported games? Basically, I am wondering if cave shmups are compatible, that is the real deal breaker for me honestly.
Sigh.

Just keep checking recent posts as well as the 1st page list.
Want to grab the final fantasy games at half off at least. RPGs on mobile just work so well.

You hyped me up and now you say this?????
:P
I've no problem with space....I just want to play a good game tough.
Despite my reservations on the game...hype is rising nonetheless.
Basically what happened to me. I hadn't played in like a year though. What's your id Dave, I wanna see your masterpiece Springfield.Originally Posted by SmokyDave

Sure, it's still got issues, but the last set of missions were much more narratively interesting.
(thank you square)
i'm in the mood

Seriously. It'd be monstrous.
I let my family use my iDevices sometimes, so I need some apps to be in Italian, it's not about the OS itself.Originally Posted by LossLess009

What's really sad is that it's always ignorant/unaware/close-minded individuals who post the truly terrible ones.Lol@that FFVI thread. Some of anti-mobile GAF is ridiculous.
They never truly tried to really dabble into iOS, that much becomes pretty clear almost immediately in those threads. Then you have people like Haunted who likes to put himself on a pedestal saying that whenever he ventured in this thread(s) all he's seen was people with really low standards and how sad that was... not realizing that a good portion of us own most of the gaming platforms (if not all) and because of that we know how staying open minded helps you being a better gamer (ie knowing every platform can offer great titles and not to judge a book by his cover). Their loss anyway. Also, I hate generalization but I had to level then I'd say I see more "low standards" in pretty much every major AAA Game thread, especially if an exclusive, with people heralding decent games as the second coming, only to make room for the deserved backlash a month after release.
Yeah, this backwards mentality against mobile games really irks me. I think of hardcore gamers as people who like to experiment and who are interested in finding special games wherever they might be, not people who play 200 hours of Dark Souls, DOTA 2, etc. and only that.

:P
Seriously though, the mobile FF VI looks kinda... well... for someone who loved it and played the hell out of it on SNES, what we've seen so far is uninspiring.
Puzzle & Dragons is nearing 25mil downloads in Japan. Just saying. Please don't mistake this as port begging or 'lol go third party!' but honestly, every day on the subway watching people play various stuff on their iphones makes me wonder just how MASSIVE Pokemon would be on iOS.
Seriously. It'd be monstrous.
Lol, my thought process is "I have a $599 console (ipad2 launch) that can play millions of games that are free to 5$ while you pay 10-60$ silly console gamerz!"I have really high standards, that's why I only play iOS games and don't even own the new consoles.
:P

Sometime I weird myself out with this thought process, but whatever. :x
FFVI mobile looks too smooth and, in my opinion, loses the gritty and dark tone that the original had. I'm not sure how the original pixels can stretch on an iphone/ipad screen though. A compromise I guess.
