... made you soil yourself the first time it played something.

Completely forgot the controller had a speaker in it. Playing Killzone SF late at night, speakers turned down, room darkened. Long bloody tutorial as a child, okay, alright, knife section ... okay, ah got my gun, got some bullets cool. What's that glowing thing. Oh audio log. I'll grab that.

!#!#BLEEPBLEEP HELGAN SOMETHING SOMETHING BLAH BLAH BLAH!#!#

Fucking thing almost deafened me, made me jump a good foot backwards and drop the controller onto the floor, all while it's blurting out some sods diary.

Jesus christ. Is there anyway to lower the volume of the thing? Or just force it through the TV speakers. I noticed later Resogun allows you to lower the Controller volume in the menu, but I can't locate anything in the KZ menu.

It's so clear.

I thought it would be a gimmick but Resogun and Killzone use it really well. It's quite effective.

To lower the volume, hold down the PS button on the pad, goto Adjust Devices, and lower the 'Volume Control (Speaker for DualShock4)'

Yeah I completely forgot about it and it was a surprise, especially as it was quite loud. Sounded cool though.

You can lower the volume by long pressing the PS button>Adjust device>Speaker volume.

Hold down the home button, then click on 'Adjust Devices'. You can lower the controller volume from there.

Sure there is! Hold the PS button and click on adjust devices. You'll see volume control for the speaker on the controller as well as headset volume if you have it connected to the controller itself.

Enjoy!

Killzone uses it perfectly. Resogun uses it stupidly(what's the point of mirroring sounds already coming from the speakers?).

Unfortunately I wasn't surprised the first time I heard it because I watched multiple streams of Resogun pre-launch, so I was expecting it.

I didn't soil myself, but it really does add to the immersion. Games like KZ, Knack, and Resogun implement it well. Does any third-party game take advantage of the speaker?

Dear lord of everything that is good in this world, the Super Giant Games guys better get the Transistor speaking through the controller for Transistor. I know they've got the Light Bar flashing in tune to the Transistor's speaking habits.

I'd play Bastion again just to hear Rucks speak through the DS4 the entire time.

Yea, it startled me. It's actually a really neat feature. More so because it's so damn clear with the DS4's implementation.

I wish more games used it... Need for Speed for the police dispatch, Battlefield for soldier comms... would have been cool.

Anyway, you can adjust the global volume of it in the system options. I think it's located in the Bluetooth -> Controller section.

Should be pretty cool in Infamous assuming they have the same hidden audio logs as they have in the first two games. I loved what the speaker in the Wii Remote tried to do, but it was too hampered by terrible audio quality to come even close to achieving what it wanted. The DS4 looks to fix that problem and provide sufficiently clear audio to be used for audio logs/radio messages.

go to devices in the settings option find the controller option and adjust speaker audio.... of course you could make it so that all audio goes through your headphones thus making the speaker silent
