-Nice platform for multiplats. I can already tell this is going to be what the 360 was for me last gen -- where I play basically all of my Generic Multiplats like annual sports titles and the like.
-Resogun I didn't take to at all at first because the intro wasn't very clear on little details and I don't like the way manuals work on PSN (janky webview) but now I absolutely love it. Reminds me of how much I was into SSHD back when I came out. I've only even gotten through the first three worlds since I'm busy improving my performance there.
-Haven't even opened Killzone yet. That game appeals to me so little. Pure launch hype but out of duty I will open it at some point. Or maybe return it if I can still do that. Too busy with other games.

360
-DR3 is a ton of fun! My intro to the series. Zombie hordes are amazing and I'm looking forward to such massive crowds in non-zombie games (e.g., strategy games).
-I can tell they focused on media a lot. Doesn't really appeal to me because all I need is Netflix, YT, and maybe Hulu, but they may have brainwashed me into having this be my console source for online video. No way I'm routing my cable box and other stuff through it though. Not sold on that.

WiiU
-Owned this since launch, but it's probably getting the most love now. I finally played on the Pad when my wife was watching something last night and it was great. Going to be playing a ton of Mario.

Overall super enjoyable. I totally concede that the launch windows are quite weak but that's not really a problem if you only have an hour or two of gaming at most every day. The one thing I feel is missing is a quirky high-quality title like what SSX was on PS2 or Monkey Ball on GC. Ideally there would be more non-retail digital titles available at launch but at least Resogun is good (I'm sure KI is good too for what it is, just haven't bothered to try it out).

-PS4 (one week with the console)

Pros
-install times are fast
-Controller feels good
-OS is fast and quick

Cons
-No BluRay 3D support(PS3 is still coming up to dorm room for now) -.5
-Sub Account PSN woes (No social media options, No uploading Screenshots/video, no option to buy subscriptions)* -1.6

*I setup a master account for buying content only and a Sub account for playing, because I would bring my PS3 to after school rec program for children and let them use the sub account as it allowed me to block them from buying content yet still let them download demos. The sub account also used to have PSN plus back in 2010, and a DCUO sub in 2011 but I can't resub up on them sadly :(

- Controller is meh. Better than DS3, but still dramatically inferior to 360
- Initial setup was a breeze
- UI is no-nonsense, and also no frills. Pretty lame imo, but at least it's lame *and* fast. It will improve over the years for sure
- Resogun is great. Killzone was an awful bore that I still need to sell. AC was fun for awhile but I got bored pretty quickly. Contrast was terrible. Madden was terrible. Lego Marvel is fun.
- Netflix runs great, Amazon does not for me.
- Streaming is nice, but even set to high quality with high bandwidth, a lot of the streams are pretty bad.

Surpassed my expectations. Saying "Xbox On" and having turn on all of your gaming appliances (projector, cable box, and receiver) without fail is simply amazing.

Been meaning to re-watch Star Trek: The Next Generation, but haven't had the time. Now, it's wonderful to be able to snap Amazon Prime streaming Star Trek: TNG (in HD) while I race in Forza, play golf, or kill zombies.

PS4 only here

+ Everything is so responsive
+ Graphics obv
+ DS4 is a dream to hold and use
+ FANTASTIC form factor. What an attractive machine
+ I love that the UI basically forces you into games. I didn't like all the extraneous BS that was getting tacked on to old consoles.

+/- Load times are basically the same

- DS4 battery life
- Not a ton of games out. I bought 3 and sold/returned them all already.
- Still missing a ton of features.
- Blu-ray 3D? Vita management? Custom soundtracks? Instant resume?

All said, I still adore my PS4. But because I've already beaten everything worth playing (to me) I'm already back to play last gen games. I'm still having a ton of fun on my handhelds and finishing up games on PS3.

The Good

- The controller
- Killer Instinct
- Multitasking, being able to watch a movie, have a Skype call, and then go straight back to my game

The Bad

- Xbox Music and Xbox Video region-locked
- Some glitches with starting apps

The Ugly

- New Zealand kind of got shafted. You can tell we were a Tier 2 country added at the last minute because A) Australia and B) the brand is strong here so why blow it? But no voice commands and YouTube isn't even in the bloody app store. Even if you download it from another region, it fails to boot if you have you machine set to New Zealand. Such horseshit and it reminds me why I hate distribution rights.

Resogun- Addicted, didn't expect to like it this much. Might be the best launch game.

KZ SF- Expected graphics to make up for bland gameplay but I'm dissapointed.

NFS Rivals- I don't usually play online but this has been enjoyable so far. Cool twist on the genre with the Burnout formula mixed with GTA. (But you can play as cops too). Basically cops n robbers/tag/hide n seek with cars lol.

Contrast- Cool concept but not up to PS4 standards. Shoddy animation.

OS looks very classy and buying games digitally/updates have worked perfectly as has Remote Play. No issues at all, very, very pleased and surprised. Expected more bugs based on the FUD a few weeks ago.

PS4. The headphone jack on the controller IS next gen. It's the most impressive, convenient, discreet, and useful feature on PS4. Night play issues, shitty TV speaker issues, sound isolation issues, it solves them all out of the box. The gyroscope text thing is also very nice. Combined with the quality build and ergonomics, this is the first time I've ever felt like these over priced controllers actually offered something worth the price.

I like the UI. The good parts from the XMB are still there and a few new thing. Very fast and easy.

The games are pretty good to me. I don't have a PC so Ps3 was really the best I've seen so far.
BF4, AC4, Killzone and Resogun blew me away graphically. Especially BF4.

I also enjoy RemotePlay a lot.

I got them both and I think both are great. Both launch lineups kind of sucked, but Microsoft's was a little bit better. XBO is also annoying in how slow things are to install. Besides those two complaints I'm pretty happy with everything and look forward to some great games.

Edit: Now I feel bad leaving the Wii U out. I don't have one but I will at some point, there's starting to be enough killer Nintendo releases out for it!

Xbox One:

Ups:
* Haven't hardly had any trouble with voice commands after acclimating myself the first day.
* Had a friend who went all-out at launch come by, signed his account into my 'box and within a couple of seconds we were playing fully-operational Killer Instinct while downloading Forza in the background. It was super smooth.
* The new bumpers took some adjusting to and I even still think I prefer the 360 bumpers, but overall I think the controller is super great.
* Really like how the suspends: last night play game until girlfriend shows up, Xbox go to Netflix, watch our movie, do our thing, she goes home for the night, Xbox play disc, bam immediate load in. The vision of kind of a persistent TV-management box is pretty cool. Not sure yet if it's actually cool or just that new-car smell.

Cons:
* Sincerely considering upgrading to HD cable for the bare-bones channel package I have so I can plug the thing into my Xbox...
* Snapping video of any kind is completely worthless without independent volume controls for each window. I tried slapping some Giant Bomb videos up alongside some aimless marauding in Assassin's Creed, but the sound is just so messy.
* Don't like the new Achievements page being sort of buried under several different layers, and the layout is a bit unwieldy compared to 360.
* Third-party apps need some work. Where the fuck is HBOgo? Why is watching specific TV episodes still so complicated in Netflix?

PS4:

Cons:
* Don't have one yet :(

Wii U & PS4.

___
I picked the Wii U up back in March or April. I've played nearly every "big" release for it so far and I really like the system and its games.
The games that utilize the tablet screen properly (ZombiU, SM3DW) are great and the features really add to the game.
Other games sometimes come off as gimmicky.

One thing I really like about it is how many games offer different control schemes.
Wii remote + nunchuck for FPS, pro controller for platformers and action games, gamepad for off screen play on the toilet...it's nice to have choices, y'know?
Personally I like playing with the pro controller and setting the gamepad down on the stand in front of my TV to use as a minimap or for HUD elements in games that allow it.

All that said, I still really like the gamepad. It has such a comfy feel to it.

Despite the dry spell of games for the first 6 months of this year, I really like the library that it has right now.
The Wonderful 101 alone is worth owning the console for, in my opinion.
I really enjoyed NSMBU early on too, such an underrated gem. ZombiU too.

___
I got the PS4 on launch day (UK). The best thing about it so far has been how quick and responsive the UI is.
I stopped using the Playstation store on my PS3 because it's so damn slow and unpleasant to use these days.

I like the share button, I only use it for screenshots but i think it's nice feature. I'm still not sure on how the record feature works.

Game-wise, Killzone SF is so-so. The visuals are great but the facial animations and NPC's in general look rough to me. I honestly preferred Mercenaries on the Vita.
Knack is fun and frustrating in equal measure. I'm playing it on hard and I seem to get killed in one hit a lot, usually down to the somewhat sluggish movement. Ilke the clayish artstyle it has going.
Resogun really steals the show for me.

Remote play with the Vita is promising. I've used it to play most of the games I own so far. Contrast and knack work almost flawlessly with it.
The analogue sticks on the Vita make Killzone a chore to play and Resogun being limited to 30FPS breaks my heart.
I hope it can be updated to perform better in the future. The prospects for playing something like Fallout 4 on the Vita in the future really rubs me the right way.

Finally, the controller. It is great. The fuller grips make it more comfortable in the palms, the triggers feel much better and they seem to have less resistance behind (I felt the 360's triggers were too firm).
the analogue sticks are great too, I honestly would have preferred convex thumb grips, but I don't mind concave.

I'm a dual-console guy, and I'm loving both so far.

I got my PS4 on launch day, and I've had a blast playing Killzone, Madden 25, and NBA 2K14. Love the controller, love the UI.

Got Xbox One on launch day as well, and I've been playing Dead Rising 3 and Ryse: Son of Rome virtually non-stop. The UI has a learning curve, but it offers very exciting possibilities.

I think we have two winners here.

I dislike almost every game I've played on my PS4 since launch except Resogun. (Killzone, Knack, NBA 2K, Madden, Fifa, Resogun). OS seems okay but the system missing base features from their last system is facepalm worthy. It'll get better but...it should have been there. Controller battery life sucks and my drive is pretty loud when playing Blu rays. =/

Haven't tried Xbox One.

Wii U is good for what it is. A machine for Nintendo games.

So far, meh.

Loving my xbox One, but Microsoft needs to address the basics of the OS pretty quickly.

I cans we they tried to streamline in because of the complaints about the 360 OS requiring "too many button presses", which was a stupid complaint to begin with, but they seem to have streamlined it at the cost of basic functionality. But it will get better.

Dead Rising is great fun and Killer Instinct is fantastic.

The controller is as close to perfection as you can get right now. The only gripe I could muster was that the bumpers needed to move down towards the triggers just a mil or two. Aside from that, perfection. Battery life if insane.

I love the look of the console. Mainly because it doesn't look like a games console. I've always wanted games consoles that look like Hifi components and the Xbox One is the only one that achieves that. As good looking as the PS4 is, to me it still looks like a games console.

PS4 Impressions

+ Background install is seamless
+ Native 1080p visuals and smoother framerates make a significant difference, even for games that aren't really "next-gen" (e.g. COD)
+ Controller feels excellent
+ Hardware runs fairly silent, outside of disc-spinning on startup

- System OS is still a little clumsy/awkward (can be figured out, but nothing stands out as being particularly intuitive or well-designed)
- Load times range from slow to god-awful (COD, NBA2K14, NFS Rivals being the only games I've played so far)
- 30FPS is completely playable, but still disappointing
- Online MP paywall is bad, even though PS+ is an otherwise great value

First console I've day-1'd in my life. Bought NBA2K14 at MSRP minus $5 (gift cert), a first for me in many, many years. Followed it up with a handful of Craigslist-type transactions for $45-$50 (Sold KZ, bought NFSR, BF4, & COD, sold NFSR, trying to sell BF4). I haven't bought and sold this many games for a console in this short a stretch ever.

Now, is it worth it to jump in early? It really depends on how badly you want out of this gen. The games do look nice, but right now I find myself wanting to play Dragon's Dogma as much as I do COD or NBA2K14, if not moreso. There's still a lot of PS360 content that I fully intend on going through, and having a PS4 next to the Trey hasn't really done anything to dissuade that. Honestly, if not for the $100 rebate deal on Shop.ca and profits from scalping, I probably wouldn't have kept it. But if you've had enough with last generation gaming, I think what's out now for PSBone is a pretty decent selection of games that can keep you interested for a while, with better looking options in the near future.

Why is it that major gaming sites like game trailers agree with me then? It's because different people classify generations in different ways. GT and myself classify it by its abilities and similar games, not date of release.

Here are the latest generation walls:

PS2
Xbox
Wii
PSP
3DS

PS3
Xbox 360
WiiU
Vita

PS4
XBO

Yes within the walls there is some degree of variance, but each wall represents a huge jump in graphics and features. So by that definition Wiiu is last gen. It's still getting games, but so is ps3. In fact, I truly wonder if ps3 will be getting new games longer than WiiU.

PS4:

- The controller is a big improvement on the DS3, although that isn't saying much for me. The sticks are way too slippery and need constant readjusting when walking and especially running. The battery life is awful, I can't believe how terrible it is... what exactly is draining it? That seems like it will be a life long complaint and only get worse as the battery degrades. The lightbar is annoying and adds nothing to the experience, it is seemingly wasting battery power for no reason. Needs a patch to disable it if you want to. Basically at this point I will get a custom built white DS4, with different sticks and hopefully someone can put in a smartphone battery or something. Maybe a hard switch for the lightbar, should be fairly easy to do. Hopefully the demand is there.

- Needs UI customization, I hate the blue, I hate the look... I would like to get things looking the way I want, same as the PS3.

- No DLNA or MP3 support means without many games on show, there really isn't much use for it at the moment.

- Share feature is meaningless to me, why would I want facebook people to watch me play games? Youtube or something else is needed pronto.

- The UI is silky smooth, but how could it not with barely any features. It does far less than the PS3 so why shouldn't it be faster. Only really has remote play as a standout.

- A dashboard layout customization should be a necessity at some point as it is going to get pretty cluttered. I want to be able to create folders, give priority of view so my favourite games are first. Change to a grid layout perhaps. Basically I don't like how games are just thrown together.

- Speaking of which, remote play is god!

- The trophy sync and lack of button press to view the trophy means it is still behind the Xbox. Yes it is faster now, but why is it required? Its a simple 1 or 0, yes or no whether you have a trophy or not. And not being able to press the PS button and view what I just achieved means I don't bother to look. Basically I still don't care about trophies like I did achievements.

- Games wise there really isn't a good library. Resogun is the killer game for me but its a small fair that simply cannot carry the weight of expectation for the console. Killzone is decent but not the title needed for launch, more of a gap filler game.

- Motion sensing keypad is a cool feature.

- The players met function not working is really annoying and goes against their whole social spiel.

Man, I really can't get over the build quality. I mean, I'm disappointed. I have felt so "insecure" about a console dying on me, and I'm even more afraid of the PlayStation 4 breaking than I were the Xbox 360.

Many times it starts lagging in the OS menu or it becomes slower, and it isn't as smooth as you be but that's all software. When it comes to the console itself, it says a very weird "clicking" noise sometimes, and sometimes not. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the fan. Another thing is, that the glossy part gets LOTS of scratches easily.

Which brings me to the noise level which I'm not happy about either. I'm super excited about getting game sound out my headphones through the Dual Shock 4, but I almost can't keep the console on while playing at night in respect for others at my place.

Then comes the controller itself. It feels plastic-y, it feels cheap. There's something about the buttons, they seem larger than before, the d-pad as well but I'm fine with those. Unfortunately I'm finding, that my thumbs are slipping from the analogue sticks and they aren't as comfortable as my first impression.

Everything else about PS4 is awesome though. Remote Play worked perfectly fine, and I can't wait to test it out on the go today. The design and size of the device is sleek and I love the multi-tasking and Sharing capabilities but also all the settings and options in the menus.

I really don't think it has any standout games, and after impressions, I'm no longer excited about Killzone: Shadow Fall and is probably gonna skip it, but that has more to do with me being surprisingly satisfied by Call of Duty: Ghosts. And I'm excited to exchange my sealed copy of NBA 2K14 for FIFA 14 later on today. Those are my two games until other games comes out next year.

So far it's an awesome console but it seems VERY VULNERABLE - like it's going to die on me at some point.

Do any of you have that "clicking" sound from your fan (I guess)?

Absolutely loving my PS4. No problems at all with it, apart from the odd crash or two with the games (particularly BF4). But other than that, very smooth experience so far.

Controller is amazing, I feel like I can aim much better on BF4 and KZ than the DS3.

OS is fast, smooth and functional.

The Good:
-Killzone: Shadownfall. With this game Sony showed me what next gen looks like. And it looks good. Seriously, the graphics for this game have blown me away and It's a launch game. I really cannot recall the last pure launch game that has impressed me as much. The game is a lot of fun too playing with mates.

-The system itself seems to work really well and I am loving being able to move between menus and game/apps without having to quit.

The Bad:
-Game drought at the moment. I've got no interest in indie games really so once Killzone is done it's going to be back to the PS3 until new games pitch up.

The Ugly:
-Blu-ray discs won't play which means I will probably have to return this unit for a replacement unless there has been some announcement I have missed. Seriously what is going on with this? I'm gonna call Sony support when I get a moment.

PS4:

The Dual Shock 4 is fantastic, which is massive for me because I hated the DS3 and the PS4 is going to be my multiplatform machine. I'm really relieved actually. The sticks and triggers are inferior to the XB1's, but I actually find the DS4 more comfortable. Pushing forward on the sticks for long periods (e.g. in ACIV) leads to some discomfort due to the edges not being round enough, but they are much better sticks than the DS3's.

The battery life is dreadful, glad I got two controllers so I can just switch em out when they drain.

The console is noticeably louder than the XB1, but no where near original 360 or fat PS3 so I'm ok with that. However the console in standby appears to emit a small whine which you can hear in a silent room, bit annoying.

The UI is great, much better than the horrible XMB.

Killzone is surprisingly boring, but the graphics really knocked my socks off, best graphics I've ever seen in person. 1080p makes more of a difference to jaggy reduction than I was expecting.

ACIV is incredible, wonderfully addictive game, they nailed it, especially after the letdown of AC3.

Resogun - not immediately taken with this game. So far it's no Geometry Wars.

Xbox One:

The console is really quiet, which I very much like, but the power adaptor emits a whine similar to the PS4 in standby, again, this is a bit annoying in a silent room.

The controller I'm sadly disappointed with after extended use. I adore the triggers and the sticks, but the shape combined with the bumper layout makes using the controller slightly uncomfortable. Switching back and forth to the 360 controller makes this difference very apparent, Microsoft fucked this up somehow. It's "fine", I can use it and hit the bumpers, but it isn't the controller it should be, it should have been perfect, but I feel like it's a step back. The battery life is very good.

The UI is good, I like it, Windows 8 actually makes sense on a console.

Kinect is shit, it works about 60% of the time, it can't detect my floor to calibrate motion controls, it has a lot of potential but it's just frustrating right now.

Dead Rising 3 - I had a blast with this game, finished the campaign in week one, super fun, it grabbed me much more than the first two games. I think I'll go back to new game plus.

FIFA 14 - my first FIFA game, it's very complicated for a newcomer. Need to put more time into this one. 1080p plus 2xMSAA looks very crisp though.

Powerstar Golf - this game is great fun, highly recommended if you have another player in the house to play with.

Overall:

Overall I think Xbox One is winning in the games department, but the PS4 is winning in the controller and graphics department. So I guess I'm just glad I have both.

- Controller is great, apart from the battery life. Touchpad works great for the map in AC4, surprisingly.
- Needs more games, launch titles are always a bit mediocre. At least AC4 is good and Killzone looks nice. Resogun is the real winner with me.

I have both.

PS4's OS is blazing fast. It surprised me the most. I was never a dual shock fan(except with Ape Escape when it came out) but the DS4 is now my favorite controller. It's comfortable and feels good. KZ4 is beautiful and has a shitty campaign, have yet to play the mp. AC4 looks and runs great as does Need for Speed. Knack I thought I would like but I find pretty boring. Resogun is the shit, and it has earned all the hype. I was just blown away at how fast the system is. It's night and day in comparison to the PS360.

Xbox One's OS runs just okay. It's missing some features that the 360 had and has some other niggling issues. I find I like snap but Amazon Instant Video(less so Netflix) seems to have audio/video sync issues when snapped. Not always but more often than not. It doesn't really bother me though as I'm usually just listening to the audio anyways. I'm annoyed you can't snap Youtube to the side. Games seem to run worse when it is snapped(Ryse especially, Forza not so much). It's not game breaking, but I notice more framerate drops in Ryse when I have something snapped to the side. I think the DS4 is a better controller, but I come to like a lot of the voice things with Kinect.

Dead Rising 3 has awful grapichs the most notable being the framerate(which jumps quite a lot) and texture/object pop-in(all the time, ALL THE TIME). Still, I really love DR3 and have 24 hours with it even though it has those problems. Great game. Forza is fun, but I only have 5 hours with it. Ryse is a pretty, decent rental at best. It's much better played in 30 min. spurts than for extended periods of time. It's repetitive as hell. Beat it on once on Hard and am doing the Hardest difficulty now and don't think I'll finish as it's so boring. Real pretty though.

DR3(XB1), AC4(PS4) and Resogun are my most played games. For a launch I think XB1 overall has the better games but, man, Resogun, it's a great game and is super fun on coop. I think this gen I'll relegate my PC/PS4 to multiplatform games and my Xbox to exclusives. Complete flip flop from last generation.

The functionality of the Xbox One is fantastic, party chat is a mess right now but that's the only complaint I have. It's so snappy. I love being able to jump from gaming to a movie I was watching and then back into gaming. Looking up guides on internet explorer while in game then snapping back is really intuitive and Kinect 2.0 is great. It works like Kinect 1.0 should have. I have it in my room with maybe about 3-4 feet and it registers everything just fine. Autologin ect.

The only complaint about kinect is that it might be to sensitive. I was talking to my younger brother on the phone and I said I got the Xbox One and it heard that command and brought up the one guide. Games look fantastic on a properly calibrated TV and I haven't really noticed the crushed blacks as badly as some people have been saying. The Games I own are Forza 5 and Dead Rising 3. For the most part they are bug free, look, run, and sound great. Engine Noise on Forza 5 is mind blowing and the commands you can yell to Kinect for Dead Rising 3 are actually pretty fun.

Lets get to bugs. The only noticeable bugs that I ran is with the Netflix app. Sometimes saying Xbox "Go Home" the system can stutter and go to a black screen. It takes a few manual button pushes to go back to home or saying home multiple times to complete the action. Not sure if this is a problem with the netflix app or the xbox its self but my gut is telling me the app. The last complaint I have about xbox one is having to go out of game to view achievements.

Controller, don't know how they pulled it off. The Controller feels incredible. I have smaller hands so the bumpers don't bother me as much. I can see how it might be awkward for people with larger hands. Don't really have a complaint with the sticks, then again I haven't really used them with any shooting games. They feel fine to me.

To sum it up, the systems great and I'm happy with my purchase. I would also recommend it to fellow gamers. As with all consoles, the hardware helps make the system but the games sell the system. Waiting to see what Microsoft does this generation.

Final thought, I haven't been able to hook it up to a TV box but after having used it with voice commands that makes sense. When your not watching games but at your entertainment space being able to use voice commands to control your system and TV is pretty awesome.

XBOX ONE

Pros
+ Fantastic launch titles. I love Ryse, DR3 and Killer Instinct. Forza is fun too.
+ OS. Think its great, but not perfect.
+ Voice Commands / Kinect - really cool way to interact and do things. Works 90% of the time for me
+ Snap / TV - really enjoy this. Have my cable box plugged in to my XB1 and its great to use and get notifications when im watching TV
+ QR Code Scanning - some seriously next gen shit.
+ Skype - the camera looks great. Love the tracking and zoom
+ Controller - fun to use and the dpad is improved.
+ Headset is actually good. Love how the buttons are now on the controller port
+ Instant On is great. How quick the game goes to the home screen is great. I love how it auto resumes after you turn off the console.

Cons
- Launch has been quite buggy in terms of the OS
- NAT Issues out my arse. So annoying - very hard to connect to MP games or use party chat some times.
- Controller bumpers suck big time
- few niggles on the voice rec - i.e "Xbox On" never works for me.
- Demo's - so hard to fine. The OS needs some tweaks in general
- Miss the guide button to find achievements and a download queue

So far my experience is realizing my 10 month old baby needs a lot more attention than I thought. While I love every chance I get to play, it's not much. The U I is great IMO, I like the less is more approach Sony used, and it's nice to sign on and not be bombarded with useless shit. The jump in resolution is really a thing of beauty, and I was one of those who didn't think it would have a big impact. NBA is the showpiece of launch. I use it to wow friends who come over. Battlefield Conquest mode is probably the most amazing thing ever when it works. Even though I'm awful at it, I can appreciate the chaos of the battlefield when I'm riding in a chopper and watching the chaos unfold.

I would love am Xbox One, and while I've actually had multiple opportunities to buy one post launch, there's no way I can justify it with the little amount of time I have.

You expect the Xbone to have better exclusives compared to what played out this gen? PS3 in the last couple of years has had a more impressive line up than what has been slated for either console put together. 360 on the other hand had virtually nothing. Personally I think revealed line up for both consoles are pretty even, but Sony has much stronger first party and I am expecting them to be stronger on the exclusives by a fair margin. I mean so far big games wise MS has Halo 5, Titanfall, QB and maybe Sunset Overdrive. PS4 has U4, Infamous, The Order, Driveclub and a stronger indie line up. I would say they are pretty even at this point

I love my new PS4. Very happy with it, and I'm sure there's plenty of great gaming ahead on it. Only downside is the crashes on BF4 I've sustained so far - but that's hardly Sony's fault.

Mine has been doing the same thing. I've barely used the thing outside of plaything through Resogun and watching Netflix occasionally.

Sometimes when I wake it up from standby, it turns off, makes a few clicking sounds, reboots into safe mode, clicks some more, turns on and tells me not to unplug the power cord to shut it down (which I've never done.) It's also done this while loading Netflix. I don't know if it's my hardware or just something buggy with the software that everyone is going through.

But looking at it from an objective point of view it's one of the stronger launches from a game perspective that I've been a part of and with PS4 most of the stuff I need it to do it does it a million times faster than PS3. I feel like I should be more appreciative than I am about it.

edit: I still need to play Killzone. I have no idea why I'm putting that off so much.

No he's not, it's atrocious on every level. A strong contender for worst game of the year just like 3 was. What I can't figure out is why seemingly all of gaf loves a game that offers nothing of value to the player.

AC3 was garbage, AC4 is amazing. Easily a game of the year contender.

PS4

Being lazy, I absolutley love the improved usability compared to PS3. I can multitask, change settings and start downloads/installations - and go back to gaming instantly. It is also great to send the console to standby and rest assured, that come next day every download ant update will be taken care of.
Love the interface so far, love the real-name-system and the overall snappyness of the UI.

Games so far are not that big a leap, especially after playing a bit more on my low-to-mid-range-PC over the last year. But the ease of use, coupled with the awesome controller really makes PS4 worthwile. I have enough stuff to play to keep me busy till after christmans.

I did not expect to be that satisfied. This is a console-launch after all. Welp... maybe the big game-draught of 2014 will come. But I am hoping for a steady stream of smaller PSN-titles to fill the gaps.

But so far... happy as fuck!

Wii U:

Started off slow but got better. I love the GamePad and I like Nintendo first party stuff, but it needs more than just that to capture a wider market share. Even still, I'm not largely sold on the entire console. I sort of haven't really cared, aside for Super Mario 3D World, X and Bayonetta 2.

PS4/Xbox One:

I don't either but honestly, both are pretty unappealing right now. Especially when I have a gaming PC as an option, neither does enough to differentiate from a gaming PC.

Overall:

I've been pretty fucking unenthusiastic about this entire generation and with the PS4/Xbox One both out, I'm still the same. I largely play my 3DS and that's about it. I don't know what it is, but I don't remember any generation being this unexciting.

Love the Xbox One, love kinect voice control, i'll expect the ease of navigation in future products i buy. Bing'd Paul Walker to show a list of movies i can watch on Netflix and Xbox Video, im loving next gen. Party chat needs to be fixed, should be MS top priority.

Highlights
- Ryse WOW at this game's visuals
- XOne controller
- Xbox record that
- Snappy app hopping

It's not bad functionality, you just don't use it all that much. The snap stuff is neat, I do like that, but again, its novelty wears off when you realize that you'd rather just do one activity well instead of two activities with divided attention.

Not true, i snap between apps alot, and if my Wife has to go do something for 20 mins i jump into a game, as soon as she comes back i jump into our movie again. Its a MAJOR convenience compared to last gen...all done with voice commands.

X1 has been a good experience for me so far, considering all the fear-mongering generated by various insider posts. Whilst missing some features from the 360 OS, they'll get there eventually. Snap and Upload are great features. Kinect is an improvement, Xbox Fitness and voice commands have been pretty slick for me, plus the way it recognizes myself and my wife is cool.

I got FIFA free with my purchase and that is fun as expected, but not a true next-gen showcase (3d crowds are nice though). Bought CD and KI, really blown away by how fun KI is and CD has grown on me once I got used to the controls and upgraded my dragon.

I'll definitely be picking up DR3 and Ryse this month. DR3 was a cert, but seeing my friends play Ryse, has shown me I'm missing out, it looks awesome.

Smooth PS4 sailing here.

+The console is quiet, responsive and works like a dream. Absolutely nothing wrong with it and I'm playing A LOT.
+The controller is superb, I was always quite surprised when people bashed the DS3, but now, after using the DS4... I don't want to go back, ever.
+I'm very surprised with the range of Remote Play via direct connection. My Wii U is loosing connection when I'm in the next room (separated by one wall from the console), I can't even play it in my bed. On the other hand yesterday I played Resogun in the tub (HA!), while being separated from the PS4 by 2 rooms and 4 walls.
+The touchpad is actually quite useful, scrolling the map with it in AC4 is smooth and I do it quite often...
- but I completely don't understand why I cannot use it in the browser.
- There are literally no apps available in Poland. As a result there is no way to listen to music... No youtube app sucks too.
-- I've managed to scratch the glossy part of the console with a super delicate cloth. The plastic seems really cheap.

Therefore, most of my issues are with the console's software, not the hardware or games. It does the gaming part extremely well and I'm more than satisfied.

Is there any ETA on the next software update?

Messed around with Resogun and AC4. Didn't know what I was expecting but did not feel like a new generation.
