So I downloaded the PS4 demo thinking it wouldn't be much but the differences and improvements are strikingly noticeable from the PS3 version.
There's obviously exaggeration to show off the new tech: the way the shirts crease and the way the shirts wave about. But it's still cool to see. But in particular I was struck by the detail of the grass, the shininess and rotations of the ball and most of all, the way players bodies are positioned and move when they shoot. Par for the course are the player faces getting better and better. But that's something that isn't as striking as the aforementioned stuff.
I played a bit of PS3 FIFA 14 a few months back and immediately saw it was not too different from 13. But the next-gen really is next-gen. Credit to EA on this. They may mess about with legacy editions and such nonsense on other platforms, but they've actually made an effort on PS4 it seems. The fact it is on the new Ignite engine is clear.
Thanks for the shout. I didn't play that on PS3 and it's been on my list since the PS4 version was announced. You want some good grass? Play Flower, man. Grass is epic in that.
Demo only so I can't comment, but if so then that's unfortunate.Didn't they cut a bunch of various modes though?
no matter how many creases are on shirts, Trash game is trash
Most on Gaf brush off sports games, so I expect the cynicism to be high. Full game is a blast for sure, tons better than the last generation starting off.
#BOYCOTTEASPORTS
After how they ruined Madden, and gave out this thrash ass live game at 60$ They don't deserve their place in the gaming industry. Don't even get me started on the rest of their crap.
I definitely agree, I rarely scored from run-by goals and people basically never score them on me. Fifa 14 is way, way better balanced than the previous ones.Originally Posted by Willkiller
Bullshit.
The heavy feel of 14 means you can score some truly beautiful goals from simple 'X' passes.
Play me, I'll show you.
Its why I'm skipping this one, I loved hearing the commentator say my name.Originally Posted by FlashFlooder

Plus you know it'll be back in FIFA 15 in 10 months time. Along with, hopefully, touchpad shot targeting like in the Vita version.
as far as on field visual upgrades, meh, not much.
madden looks more of an upgrade visually this year
Just a really great game all round, shame it isn't a huge upgrade significantly over the PS3/360 versions, that's my biggest complaint.

You guys are crazy, you can totally still do that! My most played game mode is Pro Clubs and I just checked the single player menu and you can still do player career!Originally Posted by JoeTheBlow

...I never noticed. I'll go download some.
Obviously an American.
My first FIFA game in over 10 years.
I still have to get used to not needing to run all the time and x to defend not really doing anything, but that makes it a more fun challenge, rather than some sort of football/pinball hybrid.
So far I'm glad I gave it another chance, even though the changed mechanics make me a terrible player.
Agreed. I wasn't expecting much of an improvement but it blew me away.Originally Posted by Monty Mole
It's beyond epic. Flower is absolutely stunning on PS4, everyone needs to witness it.
Looks lovely on the Vita too.
Doesn't that force you to 'play' through all the BS management simulation stuff, though (trades and the likes)?Originally Posted by PrematureQuiche

I don't want to have to deal with all that, I just want to play some soccer.
I can't wait to get the PS4 version, but right now I got NBA 2K14 (haven't opened it) and is contemplating exchanging it for FIFA 14 tomorrow.
Overall I'm very pleased by what I played.
It is trash and a pretty garbage game. They have all the pieces to make a good football game and they spoil it with the horrible gameplay that does not even resemble real football. Keys to Success in Fifa:Originally Posted by Resistance100
I don't see how anyone can call FIFA a trash game. Sure EA need to work on Madden, but they improve FIFA every year and is a fantastic series.
1) L1 + X 2-3 times
2)L1 + Triangle
3) Shoot
Repeat till the game ends.
Play me. If you play like that I'll hit double figures. We can even stream it ;)Originally Posted by TheCloser
