Smash and Mario Kart were the biggest titles on the Cube, WiiU might be a failure but counting it out before Nintendo have released these big games is premature. Zelda will be unveiled as well next year.

Yes he is. The Wii U will be around next Christmas. It will have games that people want to play. Will the WiiU sell anything close to what the PS4 and Xbone sell? No.

I feel sorry for the ensuing wrath this guy is going to be experiencing, as well as any he has received so far. He is a lowly developer, not some senior vp at Sony. He probably knows less than a lot of "nobodys" on neogaf

Definitely inaccurate. People love Mario, they just don't buy home consoles in droves for Mario games. If you already have a Nintendo console though a Mario game is about as safe a bet as exists in gaming for getting a quality game.

Hold on, it's even worse than I thought.

VG247 made an article reporting on a Nintendo Life article reporting that someone posted a bunch of negative thoughts on WiiU.

Now waiting for IGN to wrap up the news. Hopefully they'll contact a bunch of Nintendo fans on GAF to give their own insight on the matter.

What the article is quoting, as is explained in the OP, is what he posted on GAF.

Nostradomus himself could rise from the grave and say Nintendo won't see 2020, and Gaf would go 'YEAH WELL YOU WERE WRONG ABOUT OTHER STUFF SO SHUT UP'

What a deceptive headline... He uses the phrase "Nobody gives a shit" and the word Mario in the same conversation, and suddenly he's saying nobody gives a shit about mario?

Anyway, I hope this guys right! I will probably never buy a WIIU, but I would love to play the new Mario... I could only imagine how many millions of dollars Nintendo would gain if they released Mario on all consoles.

Super Mario 3D World is better than any launch game for either console. I bought the PS4 and have spent more time on my Wii U since I bought Mario than on my PS4. There was nothing stupid about their idea to launch the game alongside those consoles. It's been sold out pretty much every store I've gone to. I'll be interested to see the numbers

Well, he may not be wrong, but if this industry really doesn't give a shit about Mario, then the whole console scene can die in a fire by next Christmas for all I care. I'm not sure why people are becoming increasingly spiteful towards Nintendo as their sales performance worsens; there isn't some ratio between sales and quality that validates all the hatred being spewed their direction.

He's not wrong, though he could have said that in a way that wasn't designed to get people angry.

Besides just disagreeing with his sentiment I think this should serve as another reminder for why devs on GAF should try to remain anonymous. I hope this doesn't negatively impact his career.

Nintendo has always been shit at marketing, and always will be as they've never really had to do it but now they need to get it together. And the Wii U will be around for 2 more Christmases at least.

I give a shit. Mario 3D World was an absolute delight to play co-op in.

As for Little Deviants, uh..... :\

Gotta say though, up until 3D World arrived, my Wii U had been turned off for about 10 months straight. But Between Mario 3D World and Wind Waker HD, I've been playing my Wii U more the last few weeks than my XB1 or PS4.

It's true that nobody gives a shit, but I think it will survive for at least two more years.
